The funny thing about the three fire apes is that Darmanitan probably isn't the most debatable of the bunch, it'd be Infernape. Its conceptual basis, Japanese name and design favors regular monkeys more then apes.

On the current topic though, I don't think there's any problem if they repeat animals, what matters to me is what they do with that. Poliwrath and Greninja may be based off of frogs/toads, but both are still liked in their own right because they each have their own personality to them.

TBH my deleted and rather misguided rant aside the bunny is the least awkward thing in that picture.

More specifically, it's the only one that looks like it had any thought put into it.


I just realized the cow is a Water Buffalo, but I have a natural hatred of ungulates for boring me as a small child in Zoo Tycoon so for me it's potato potahto.

I was thinking the Sun legend would've been Fire/Grass...both of these types as a strong association with the sun in the games especially since both grass and Fire types benefit from Sunny Day...

The moon would be fairy/Dark for the same reason, fairies and dark types have a strong connection to the moon as well...Whether it's through evolving at night or moon stones or straight up coming from the moon...plus dark types can use Moonlight, and fairies use Moonblast...

....but yeah what I meant was that there are fairies that use moon stones to evolve, not that all pokemon that use moon stones to evolve are directly connected...like fairies who have other connections...

I -think- Goomy was supposed to cover that, in an abstract but still kind of obvious if you think of the concept sort of way.

Not that I'd be against more sea slugs, but me being a hipster with a Finding Nemo DVD set I have another idea in mind.

Look at the pretty Spanish Dancer.

It's a free-swimming slug. Maybe it's no Dragon Slug, but it's still pretty cool in it's own right.

As for what would make a good starter, I settled on "lungfish" quite a long time ago. Due to my limiting myself a bit too hard on ideas, however, it's the ONLY thing I've settled on. . .
