Super Smash Bros 4 (Wii U/3DS) Topic

You know, I just noticed something.

Joke characters in Smash (when present) have always been from the Pokemon franchise.

The Pokémon Trainer was a "WTF?" character, but it wasn't a joke. Now the stamina system was a joke, as was the long time between switching them, and as was Lucario's aura system (which was a gigantic catastrophe), but by no means was it meant to be a joke. Jigglypuff was kinda a joke, but it was a joke that was funnier because Jigglypuff is, was, and will always be fun to play as in Smash Bros!

Ganondorf was a Pokemon in Brawl?

True facts: Captain Falcon wasn't in Melee.

Instead, we got Melee Mewtwo disguised as Captain Falcon and trying (and failing) to copy him.

I have never seen anyone playing Ganondorf lose including every Youtube video. This notion that he is bad has no supporting evidence.

Smash 64 had Jigglypuff, Melee had Pichu. Brawl didn't really have a joke character.

R.O.B. to most people that I know of, was more of a WTF? character, and certainly not a joke.

Theres no doubting Wii Fit Trainer is a joke character though, and if we get an entirely new Pokemon rep, let's hope it won't be a joke. (I'd prefer Mewtwo over a new rep, just saying we don't need another Jokemon)

Biggest reason I actually play sports games is for the team management mode (Won a championship with the magic about 4 or 5 years after the 2013 season on 2K13)

With the Warriors I won it in 1 (in 2K11) because I can, and because someone was dumb enough to accept all my bad cap space players for their draft picks!

Also, I prefer The Association Mode, because I love playing as all the players. I love playing as bench warmers/defensive stoppers and stopping teams offensively but still allow like 100 points a game because all I do is fast break offense and 3-point/in the paint shooting!

But still, sports managers are fun. Actually, I would love it if someone made a sports managements game around cities with sports teams, and keeping their sports teams, and keeping them happy. That would be especially fun for small markets with many teams like say Kansas City and San Diego (the latter of which is a no man's land for professional sports; you got nowhere to grow, because San Diego is surrounded by mountains and the ocean).

OMG... you remembered that? But yes, it's true... I had three different versions of Pay Day in Meowth's moveset.

B - Amulet Coin (this is Pay Day the way it was portrayed in the Pokémon games - a projectile attack)
Side B - Fury Swipes
Up B - Faint Attack
Down B - Payback (this is Pay Day the way it was portrayed in Smash 64 - a counter attack)
Final Smash - Pay Day (this is Pay Day the way it was portrayed in Brawl)

Note that Meowth has two Dark-type moves (Faint Attack and Payback)

I get what you mean there. WFT was certainly a more unusual choice, but at least she'll (probably) be a decent character fighter wise. Pichu is just a clone and has practically no advantages over Pikachu. (it's faster speed and good grab game can't make up for it's self damaging moves)

Pichu's self-damage does, at most I believe, 4% damage with Agility. Thunder's self-damage can be avoided, but I see what you mean. Jigglypuff wasn't bad, it just made people think "Really?" We've gotten used to Jiggz, though.

Yeah, Jigglypuff is a veteran now, and for me, Smash wouldn't be the same without her.

I don't the term WTF character. In retrospect, both Mr. Game & Watch and R.O.B. were unexpected, but they feel more in the vain of retro characters, and I think they should be classified as such. Both played an important role in Nintendo history. And the same goes for WFT. Even though she came completely out of left field, she fits in well and doesn't appear to be a joke character (meaning purposely bad). Her moves are funny because of how she does them, but she is not a joke character herself.

I know theres still a good amount of people who aren't mega-fans (or fans period) of him, I'm just well aware of his popularity. (not to mention the forest maze song, I've heard that and remixes of it countless times)

Same here... I have played and beaten Super Mario RPG dozens of times when I was in middle school and high school... Geno is a pretty cool character but he objectively doesn't deserve to be in Smash over the likes of Toad, Bowser Jr., and Paper Mario.

I loved its design as soon as I saw it, and now that I see that it's a Dark/Psychic type, I love it even more. I don't care if that type combination has sucky defense, I love it.

@Treecko: Its only weakness is Bug. That's pretty good in terms of type. Like Electric or Normal. Just one weakness.

With only one 4x weakness it doesn't suck defensively. It's nothing spectacular with no resistences but iwouldn't say it sucks. It's called Karamanero.

I remeber Geno made one cameo in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga as the one who explained the rules of a mini-game, but it was just his wooden doll body. (or in other words his design)
