Ah yes, the game that introduced that pathetic Quint character.
I've heard that game was a big step down from Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge.
They're both about on par, one's longer while the other has better music & less weird console to handheld moments.
The GB series was never really all that good until IV and reached it's peak with V. They're still fun games, some of the best on the GB, though.
I still don't like the gimmick levels and areas (the skiing level, the trash can escape); plus I felt some of the levels were fairly underwhelming. If the gameplay wasn't so slow and lethargic, I think I would definitely agree with you though.
Yeah I'll definitely agree that it's a tad slower, but other than I disagree with the levels being gimmicky/underwhelming.
4 and 5 aren't bad games, but eh, unless you really like Mega Man like you and I do, you probably won't see anything redeemable about it.
Yeah they aren't bad, I still pop them in every once in a while.
4's probably my least liked game. I never really found any major uses for the RM weapons, I found there to be some cheap moments in the level design, and I dislike having to press a button after firing a pellet in order to have the Buster Charge (which wasn't as useful as in later games).
The weapon balance and weapons were kind of weak, but eh, I guess I just like using the Mega Buster.
Same here.
2 had the best weapons (Metal Blade, Crash Bomb, etc) and most of the tip top best levels, music, and just had perfect atmosphere. I think Mega Man 3 might have better gameplay, but man, Mega Man 2 just has that pure classic "feel" that is so freaking enjoyable, and has a ton of replay value.
I partially disagree. Metal Blade was OP, Time Stopper was very gimmicky, Atomic Fire's only real use was on Wood Man on Easy Mode, Crash Bombs don't have much Weapon Energy and are pretty punishing if you happen to miss a shot.
9 unarguably has the best weapons in series. There's not one that's not useful In-Game and none of them are OP either. This is one of the few things I'll openly fight people on when it comes to this series.
Other than that my big issue with 2 is that it's the most punishing of the series. The Wily Castle Stages are where the game dips a lot in quality. I'M LOOKING AT YOU WILY 4.
Off the top of my head it's the only game in the series where certain bosses only have 1 weakness, where you can get a Game Over and lose all your E-Tanks, certain weapons are very punishing. There are also a lot more sections where you required to have to use a specific weapon, which results in having to play conservatively and planning ahead of time.
