They refused to let SSBM's tournament be live streamed.

And JohnKnight is assuming the worst, and going very far into the possibilities in the future.
I personally think he's taking things to far.

A SSBM tournament=??? No, this is the biggest smash tournament ever, bar none, we won't be able to stream it, we will get minimal videos of it (all banned by EVO, due to legal threats; we have to hide our videos, like E for All Brawl demo videos in 2007), and we will literally not be able to view one of the biggest event in the games' competitive history.

We will miss the return of Ken after 6 years, the rise of Dr. PP, the great pool SFAT is in, and most of the brackets. That sucks. That is stupid. That shouldn't happen.

We don't know what Nintendo will do next year. After the crap they're getting right now the marketing team may just have a say and we'll see a few executives pull rank. Heck, if the Wii U continues to not sell they'll have a lot more problems than whether or not a Super Smash Bros stream gets aired at EVO. We all need to just stop with the hyperbole. Is this a dumb move? Yes. Is this indicative of a policy that will continue into the future? We don't know. Judging by the immense reaction, probably not, but for now let's just deal with the situation at hand.

Well Nintendo already got Brawl black balled competitively, and now Melee.

Gesh, I wonder what they'll do with Smash 3DS and WiiU.

It means we won't be able to see it. Instead of getting what we got with Zenith and APEX (where I watch all the videos), I will get 5 videos of crappy quality. It will be as if history didn't exist. It's like when the video footage of the World Series of the past were lost; it sucked. This is one of the biggest pieces of Smash history, and damn it, we won't be able to record it or see it.

5 videos of crappy quality is better than absolutely nothing. And if you see those 5 videos, that means it's there and you can see it.

And maybe I'm being an optimist or I don't understand fully what I'm talking about, but seriously, John? No livestream doesn't mean Smash is no longer in the competitive scene with other games. It's still there, whether it's streamed or not, and just because you can't livestream doesn't mean you can't record and upload later (which is how I watch most of these things anyway).

But honestly, I'm sick of this topic. So I'm just dropping it with that.

Brawl is already black balled by all major tournament organizations, and now it looks Melee is black balled, too. This will happen with Smash WiiU and 3DS... probably immediately.

Unless I'm mistaken, I remember you saying that you wanted to play that competitively. Well, good luck getting livestreams for that, which hurts the community growth, hurts the community interaction, and actually hurts Nintendo.

Saying certain things could happen (I'm not saying they will) doesn't mean I'm wrong or right, but that, because of this, it is very possible. The thing that scares me is summed up by this: I don't know what they will do; you don't know what they will do. Instead of stopping this months in advance, Nintendo waited until literally the Majora's Mask 72 hours started. What's next=??? Does Nintendo go down a downward spiral, or is this it=??? Anything is possible.

I see, so because no one will be able to view a tournament live without showing up in person, this might end the competitive smash community.

No, it is the last chance smash has at being in a gigantic tournament, UNLESS WE WIN!!!

I'm not talking merely as a Melee or Project M competitive player; I am talking on behalf of the Brawl players who were screwed at MLG by Nintendo (that actually made me quit competitive Brawl, and that was the last time I played the game without mods; I actually almost sold my Wii after that); I am talking as a future competitive Smash 3DS and WiiU player.

I want smash in the big show tournaments. I want the livestreams, I want to be on the livestreams someday (I've been on some for Project M), I want to see the big moments on livestreams. Don't you see=??? Nintendo of America is trying to stop all that. And you know what=??? It's wrong, and I want them to stop that. I feel I have the moral obligation to let them know that I am sick of this.

That is all I am trying to do. Nothing more, nothing less.

Fire Emblem should be much more colorful, but instead we get stuck with Chrom and Lucina. Like, bloody hell.

Best case scenario: we keep Ike, he gets axes on some moves (Up Tilt, D Air, U Air, F Smash ; double Ragnell / Urvan hit ~ Copyright by ManlySpirit all rights reserved ~) and in a similar vein, Chrom / Lucina get lances on some moves.
