In some ways, that'd actually be a more fair item than the Smash Ball...

This could actually be an idea for a level 2 kind of Final smash

Perhaps characters with more powerful and/or screen covering Final Smashes would take a longer time to eat it.

There should just be several different adjustable options for acquiring your Final Smash.

Smash Ball
Smash Fruit
Smash Zone (King of the Hill zone appears, you have to defend the position)
Smash Meter (something like Playstation All-Stars [not that I've played it])
Smash Power (a meter you build by doing awesome things like getting Bonus points)

Bonus points like the ones you can get in Melee? Sounds like a good idea to me!
