Water battles would be awsome. There would need to be dangers to if there could be Water battles.

What levels would be best for Water battles?

You can still get knocked off the screen if that's what you mean.:)

I for one am looking forward to Bandai/Namco assisting in making this game. I understand that third-party assistance in Nintendo's first-party fighter is strange, but if I'm not mistaken (which I could be) the head of the development team on Bandai/Namco's side doesn't like butchering original ideas. I think that the new Smash game will still feel like Smash, not Soulcaliber or Tekken. Personally, on my side, I would love to see some of the "Tales of" characters in Smash 4, like Lloyd Irving (Tales of Symphonia) and Asbel Lhant (Tales of Graces). Another interesting, yet ultimately up to player's taste, idea would be to make your own character, based on fighting styles of others, like Soulcaliber did. Of course, that would likely not make it in competitive play, but it would be a neat feature for casual gamers as well (I play some competitive, but I'm not well known, ^_^) Anyway, those are my ideas, take 'em or leave 'em. ^_^

When I call Shulk She-hulk I'm fully aware who he is. I just think it's a dumb name, and dislike the character.

I'm looking forward in to seeing what Namco can do with the 4th smash.I really liked Soulcaliber but i only played the one Link was in.Iv never played Tekken but Tekken looks like it would be fun to play.I hope that they make it so that you can make your own character, based on fighting styles of others.I tend to play games that you can Create your own character.I think it could be competitive play.Depending on how Namco can create that mode.

That's true, that Custom Characters may be able to be used in competitive play, but it definitely changes things up. Like on SoulCaliber V, You can make someone play like Nightmare, but not as tall, or not as "buff" so things played slightly different. Of course, SoulCaliber is all about weapons, and size of the character doesn't really matter. Technically, Smash Bros. should be classified as it's own genre, as most fighting games follow the style of three punch buttons, three kick buttons, guard button, jump, and crouch. Mobility isn't really there. Smash Bros was the first "fighting game" I played that didn't play like a "fighting game."

So, if you are able to make your own character, would that character share the same physical size and reach properties that the original character had? Or would the custom character have his own size and reach? Off the wall example, but imagine using Pikachu, then creating a character using Pikachu's abilities as a base. Would that Custom Character be formed and based on Pikachu's model, or would it be based on it's own model? The easiest thing I picture is Pikachu's FSmash. Because Pikachu is so low to the ground, his FSmash hits slightly above the ground. Would the Custom Character share the same size? Would his FSmash be at the same level as Pikachu's? Or would it be a proportion, like would the new character attack at the same ratio of height that Pikachu does?

I know that my points are probably easily refutable, but I haven't been able to think of ways around it that would make Custom Characters be usable for competitive play, unless you made a Custom Character tourney or something like that.

It would change them up a hole lot.See i don't think i would like that if i can't make it fight as good as peach then whats the point in leating me make a Character?..Mabe they learned from there mistakes with SoulCaliber V.I think it should have its own size and reach,Rather than down grading its reach. It should have limits when it comes to its size mabe cause not all sizes have the same reach and style.

Kirby and pikachu are about the same size so i think they both have the same type of reach i could be wrong tho they seem like there the same size.

...what is this, I don't even? Where did you get She-hulk from?
Shulk is a common abbreviation for She-Hulk.

Me turn for snu-snu.

Custom characters are banned from tournament play. All the scaled changes in hitboxes and hurboxes would muck things up.

Ah yes, thanks for clarifying.

I'm starting to dislike SSB now... Once some hardcore info hits, then yes, I'll like it more, but right now, with Namco in the lines, it feels like we're about to play another Tekken game.

I'm not saying we will, but I do have my thoughts.

This is Shulk.

Shulk =/= She-Hulk. Honestly, people, learn to google.

So basicly, when I just mention Shulk in a post about Namco not making Smash 4 themselves then we get all this arguing about who Shulk is.It's hilarious of course, but it's an example of how a new topic turns up.shinpichu is correct,I meant Shulk from Xenoblade.:troll:

Yeah I'm really getting bored of Brawl now,and I've nearly finished all my other games(SM3DL:Beat secret level.KIU:Have most weapons.MK7:Beat 150cc reverse.PokemonB1:Has most gen 5 pokes and all TMs.TLoZ TP:Has all special moves and side quests.TLoZ WW:Half way through Second Quest.Pushmo/Pullblox:Got bored.DRW:Half way through.MTO:Unlocked all kit for Mii.TLoZ SS:Barely any side quests)and my upcoming games are a long way away(PokemonB2,NSMB2,NSMBU,Nintendo Land and LBP Karting(yes I have a PS3)).I hope they hurry up and don't slack off like with Brawl(7 years!).

This thread is really slowing down.Where is everybody?Or have they just lost interest?
Not everyone devotes their full time and energy to this thread. Also, there are other threads centered around the upcoming Smash titles in this sub-forum. If you'd like to see more activity in a greater variety of topics related to the upcoming Smash games you should check out the rest of the board instead of this one thread.

Hope this helps your boredom and/or enthusiasm. ;)

i find it kind of weird having all these other topics when really all of those topics can lead to discussion in here right?

But i just had some random ideas and i thought i should discuss them here.

How many of you love long matches? I love them. One thing i always did back in early days was i had 99 stock FFA matches. These would sometimes go from 1 1/2 hours to 3 hours and it be really interesting seeing the scoreboard afterwards. Nowadays i don't think i could ever go through it again but i'll always try to have that odd 50 stock ffa. Most of the time i do 10 stock FFA's with 15 minutes at the timer.

Anyway i was thinking it can get really tiresome hearing that same tune over and over again. I know some themes will always be great. But what if after one song is done a new one comes on. Rather then play the same thing on a loop go to the next song. It creates variety and gives other chances for songs to be heard.

Also i'm thinking to make it interesting what if the stage officially changed. Now i know in Smash Bros. they have tried this to an extent. Daytime changing, season changing, platform changing. BUt say something happened and it stayed that way. A lot of fighting games do this now i'm not sure where it began i think it was SF or MK(Mortal Kombat) where there were several levels to a stage. I think Namco has also done this in Tekken and SC. So it would be nice to see a whole new stage made from an entire new floor.

Then i thought of this crazy new idea. What if there was an item where you could teleport from one stage to another? Keep the brawl going on but in a different stage. Ie changing from Fire Emblem Castle to Hyrule Temple. Or Mushroom Kingdom to Halberd.

Then again maybe these would be kind of hard i don't know how Video Games work. But don't you think it be cool?

Maybe there'll be one stage which flicks through all stages but it would be hard to do with stages like Castle Siege and Warioware Inc. that already change. For the music maybe but as an option.

What do you think the game should be called?I think the games should have different names.E.g:Wii U:Universe 3DS:Clash.

Wait?I'm a cadet now?:awesome:

One of the reasons why the bigger names of smashboards ssb4 speculation aren't here is exhaustion. there is no news at all that hasn't already been discussed in this thread's predecessor or THAT thread's predecessor... that's right... this is the third incarnation of smash 4 speculation.

one from before it was announced, another from when it was announced, and this one spawned from the namco bandai announcement and the Smash World Forums adding smash 4 in it's own category like brawl, melee and 64.

Kuma's still around here because......... idunno...

I post primarily in the GD section since I find it fun. I don't post here because everywhere else is far more interesting and I don't have to worry about the topic diverging to characters. All that stupid talk is safely locked away into one part of this forum.

I responded on the Shulk thing since I love She-Hulk.

Things just got real. Certainly makes me feel old, and I only joined the just early last summer. Some people have been at this since 08.
Not that I'd expect these kids to listen to their elders about the ways of Sakurai. lol

Kinda insane that we are going to all be jumping on the hype wagon like with SSBB when it was announced back in 06... Seems like a hella long time since I had to check the dojo everyday.

I know that the wait for Brawl was quite long, and I waited and waited for it, and when I got it, I was ecstatic. I hope that Smash 4 will do the same thing, but better, and I hope that the cast isn't cut, but is expanded by at least 15 characters, with various other third parties and of course Namco Bandai characters, like the Tales of characters, and maybe even Pac-Man and some other old staples. Personally, I'd love to see any form of Megaman, or Zero, but...I doubt Capcom would even think of helping out.

15? Now you're just setting yourself up for disappointment. I'd say we're getting 10 new characters at most.

I was just looking through some old threads from when Brawl came out. . . I just realized it took quite some time for the community to start commenting on how OP MK was, I hope this happens with the next smash, everyone disregards the top character for a while, then suddenly everyone is like WHAT THE HNNNGH, TOP TIER.
Why I would like this to happen? So I can have that character all to myself for the first few weeks.

To be honest I am a litle scared with the whole "new direction" thing. Could this be the end of tue whole thing as we know it meaning no more 4 players fighting to knock oneanother of the stage thats what kepps smash difrent
This is more true with the tekken serise talking about it

In demos, there was some debate as to how good :metaknightbrawl: really was. When Brawl was released though, everyone knew :metaknightbrawl: was wayyyyyy overpowered.

That and I've been training for a big regional tournament. I always try to get better. Plus I've also been adding loads of hacks for Project M. I love me some Project M!

We've never had the roster expand by 15 characters. Melee expanded the roster by 14 characters, Brawl expanded the roster by 13 characters( 17 newcomers, 4 cut characters). You should expect the Smash WiiU and/or Smash 3DS roster to have no more than 52 playable characters and no less than 45 playable characters.
