I think the name has to be catchy where you can say it without Smash. Such as, "Let's play Melee, lets play Brawl."

Super Smash Razmataz probably does not achieve this, but it is a good name nonetheless.

GX would be alright, but XX would be good news:

Anyway, here's a bunch of synonyms for Melee: http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/09/ggxxacplusrlogo.png

Brawl is a direct synonym and a definition. The ones that match it best are the following:

Definition: brawl
Synonyms: battle royal, fight, fracas, fray, free-for-all, hoedown, melee, rhubarb, riot, row, rumble, shindig, slugfest, turmoil, uproar

Hence why I think Riot and Sluggfest are good choices.
Straight from google and other dictionary sites have similar results

It can, and mostly is, used for fighting synonyms, but can also be used for argument synonyms like squabble, bicker, and quarrel.

Oh okay. I still like GX reminds me of F-zero. :chuckle:

Yeah see, that's the thing. Clash doesn't quite do that for me.

Let's play Clash...

Or Universe... Likewise for Rumble, let's play Rumble, you like a Rumble pack?

Sluggfest and Riot do this more easily for me. Riot sounds kinda off-the-wall and uncommon like Melee. And Sluggfest is more like Brawl in the way it carries it's meaning. Both also carry either two vowels like Melee and Sluggfest, or a long vowel like Brawl and Riot. Clash is too quick to say, and whyle Rumble rolls off the tongue better it doesn't quite carry the meaning of a BIG free-for-all fight like the other two do.

Yeah, Brawl can be sued for quarrels as can the others if you follow those links. That's why they're synonyms, but their inherent meaning leans more to one side than the other. How often do people use Brawl when they refer to a non-physical conflict? A Clash can carry that meaning much more easily. And Rumble can also mean vibrate. An off-the-wall secondary meaning which none of the previous entries have carried. Now while Riot does ALSO carry a 2nd meaning, it still follows in line with it referring to a violent uprising or conflict.

I think Strife achieves this. Maybe Riot. Slugfest seems too slow to say with that hard first syllable, although fest might work (although sounds too happy).

Since there is a 3DS and a Wii version, maybe the 3DS one will be a more personalized quest name (since it might feature customization) and Wii U can have the crazy battle name.

Example: 3DS Crusade Wii U Crash

(In Reggie voice) "Get ready to play as your favorite Nintendo superstars at the big arena with your friends and fans worldwide on the Nintendo Wii U, or take them on tour as you go about your day with the Nintendo 3DS. Introducing Super Smash Bros. Arena and Super Smash Bros. Tour, coming next year."

Rumble and Slugfest are used quite often in the Boxing scene as well as UFC. So either one of our suggested names could work under the context of being a subtitle for a fighting game such as Smash, regardless of the second meaning they may carry. I just think Rumble has a nice ring to it. It would also be a nice nod to the Digimon: Rumble Arena games also made by Namco.

Riot just sounds weird to me. I try to invision the announer saying each of these names and riot sounds off to me. Super Smash Bros. Riot! I also try it at the end of the special game modes like they do for Melee/Brawl:
Tiny Riot! Lightning Riot!....Still sounds off.

Now Rumble that's a word that is famous for being chanted out before a fight as i've posted before :bee: Any one of these can be it potentially unless Sakurai throws one of his infamous curve balls.

Well see, on Riot, I was sorta thinking like Melee with the announcer.

SUPER Smash Bros...
RRRRRRRRRRIOT!

Sluggfest could be like the SSF4 announcer.

SUPER SMASH BROS...
SLUGG-FEST

GET READY TO FACE YOUR RIVALS.

This is another issue: The announcer. the Brawl one wasn't the same as the Melee. and the new one may sound totally different and may completly butcher the subtitle.

You see, because arena is Spanish for sand. Thus having the arena on the beach. Because beaches are sandy.

Was really hilarious.

Well then Sluggfest it is then:

Riot could be more like this:

Perhaps it might be that novelty colorful sand and the arena takes place in a sandbox? Nah, too weird. Why would characters be fighting in a sandbox? Maybe if they were toddlers or something, I don't know.

Because they are toys being manipulated by Master Hand.

He can't just say it, the Announcer always drags out the word.
64: Super Smash Brooooooootheeeeeerrrrssss!

Melee: Super Smash Brothers Meleeeeeeeeeee!

Brawl:Braaaaawwwwl! I'll just post his audio track for Brawl. Since none one says anything at the end on opening cinematic.

It doesn't really work with Sluggfest unless you force it. Words like Riot and Rumble work because it's easier to roll R's than roll the G's of SluggggggFeessssst

Is slugfest like Beerfest except you eat slugs instead of drink beer?

Well you can eat slugs, so I guess you could say that. Pretty sure you cannot get drunk on slugs, unless possibly a nudibranch or something. Though, probably eating one of those could kill you.

In France, Mewtwo's signature attack is known as Frappe Psy. Is it a delicious frozen coffee beverage?

Likely fake, but have this

On another note, I managed to complete my roster analysis.
Same guy who said a certain Super Saiyan has a chance. Last time I checked: Having a lisence to make games of series =/= Being the owners or creators of series. He also gave 2 different and completely opposite answers to a single question. So I'm saying he's full of bull (but I'll keep it in mind though)

That guy apparently has provided false info in the past. Not that this is believable anyway, but no one should be buying into this.

That said, I'm sure of this will turn out to be accidentally true, but not the Smash part.

If by Goku, you mean Sun Wukong from that Famicom game.

I still would like to see how the internet is going to explode if that Goku gets in.
'Twould be even better if one of his color palettes was orange and blue like DBZ Goku's, revealed at the same time.

Predictions aren't any good if they're not right and based on strong evidence for the prediction.
