Since Protoman is a prototype he is incomplete. Mean he would want to be a more complete robot, i.e. Megaman.

Just take Megaman ZX's Prometheus and Pandora and make them have a DKC style swap-out style. They originated from the DS, so they've always been on Nintendo. They were in ZXA, which was the most recent canonical Megaman game (Starforce? What is Starforce?) since they went into 8-Bit Copout hell.
Certainly be a unique combination of Fire and Ice. May make a moveset soon.

My only problem with Zero over Protoman is that the design of Smash 4 Mega Man doesn't go with Zero.

It would be like having Mario and Paper Luigi.
