Yeah, given the huge amount of Shy Guy types, a bunch of Shy Guy abilities and weapons being incorporated into one would be pretty awesome.

I'd rather have said Shy Guy be General Guy above all others though.

I associate him more with Yoshi. They've appeared in every Yoshi game, after all.

And it makes more sense than the Baby Mario Bros. or Baby Bowser being in a different series group from their grown-up counterparts.

I would drop kick someone for a new Metroid character. Preferably Ridley, and to a lesser extent Dark Samus. So there's that. Actually, I'd do the same for another Capcom character too but you get my point.

Sadly, it seems that Yoshi and F-Zero will never get more than one rep. However, Yoshi is a Mario subseries and I've always seen him as a Mario character anyways .

Probably because Yoshi's Story is not a Mario game... so it wouldn't make sense for Yoshi's Island (SSB64 stage) to have the Mushroom icon...

Luigi represents the Mario series in general along with Rosalina, Bowser, Peach and Mr. Nintendo himself.
On speaking of Yoshi's Story, I partially understand his own series being granted to Yoshi. But otherwise he hasn't really gotten much representation and has been tacked on to mostly Mario games in general. DK, however, originating from Mario has distanced in terms of universes on a bigger scale than Yoshi.
