Tingle is a full out protagonist and has his own series, with multiple games. Tails barely has two games, with Shadow having one. Tingle is really closer to Wario or Yoshi now in terms of being separated from their respective original franchise appearance.

I'm saying he's far more important than a lot of those listed and he could easily be playable instead. The only real thing holding him back is how hated he is in America, and I'm not so sure that's more than a bit of an exaggeration by that point. Him being playable wouldn't have a ridiculous impact. He'd just be the new punching bag.

Worst that'll happen is the whole fandumb idea that "He took a spot from someone else." That'll only arguable if there was data of another Zelda character that was playable. So far, the only one he could've gotten over, assuming Sheik and Ganondorf come back is... Toon Zelda/Toon Sheik. Not exactly a big deal. Albeit, seeing as how his games are essentially their own franchise now, being that they're all unique gameplay-wise, I wouldn't mind if he represented his own series like Wario and Yoshi do. If he gets in, anyway.
