I wonder if Ridley gets confirmed what the Ridley haters will actually do. Will they they just complain that Ridley shouldn't have gotten into the game? Will they try to deny they ever hated Ridley? Will they jump ship to hate on another character? So many possibilities....

They'll probably throw a tantrum.

Of course i'll probably follow suit if Paper Mario gets in....

Ideally, they would leave the Smash speculation scene once and for all (those like Vaztor71). Sadly, however, I can see them gearing up to go against another character to antagonize.

I'm ready to see what retro studios is working on. I bet the "not so distant future" is E3 though.

I don't think the "not so distant future" sounds like June. It's all semantics, but it seems like "near future" doesn't sound so roundabout, and taken literally doesn't sound as distant as "not so distant". They could've said "soon" as well.

Man, can't believe E3 is coming closer. I've been waiting for SSB4 since '91.

You're not the only one. People building their own happiness from other people's misery, I find it sickening, even something small like this. Ah...you don't know how much it saddens me when people say things like this. I mean, I know it's just a video game and I'm not taking it that seriously. I'm especially not taking speculation and all this **** seriously. However, I was a bit disappointed with Melee, and Brawl too. But did that stop me from liking those games? If SSB4 disappoints me somehow (which, like you've said, we are all going to be disappointed one way or another), then so be it. I'm still going to enjoy the game in the end. And even if I end up not liking the game from some reason, I'll force myself to find a way to enjoy it. Because Super Smash Bros. is my fave video game series of all time, and it's not going to stop at number 4.

Even from stupid fans, or people that really deserve it, I just can't bring myself to enjoy those tears. Uh, I don't even know how to explain myself...
This is basically what schadenfreude (lulz for short) is. It is also why fail videos are so damn popular on YouTube or why America's Funniest Home Videos is on its 23rd season. :awesome:

Schadenfreude, German for happiness in the misfortune of others.

That is German.

Yeah, it is mostly unfunny nowadays... probably since I am desensitized to people failing... that or Bob Saget isn't the host anymore. I watch bits of it before Once Upon a Time.

Yeah, I watch new episodes every Sunday night.

But yeah the only people's tears I will lick is ones who post extremely immature/idiotic reactions, regardless of it being terrible news, the best news ever, or anything in between.

Well I definitely wouldn't mind being wrong about it being shown at E3. I'm hoping it's Star Fox, but it could be Metroid. I used to think it could be F-Zero, but maaaaaaaan, that interview where Miyamoto was like

[eyes open wide] I am really pleased to hear Twitter’s opinion, because since the first episode on SNES many games have been made but the series has evolved very little. I thought people had grown weary of it.
I’d like to say: Thank you very much and try to wait by playing Nintendo Land’s F-Zero mini-game.
I am also very curious and I’d like to ask those people: Why F-Zero? What do you want that we haven’t done before?
Makes it seem like he had Zero *winkwink* plans for another F-Zero game. It's good that he seems very interested in the F-Zero fanbase though. I like seeing a developer adress his fanbase directly like he does in this quote. This is the only franchise besides Mother that I thought may actually die.

I hate to say it, but Mother and F-Zero are pretty much in the hospital known as Smash Bros. hanging on by Oxygen support.

I would hate to see F-zero die without an online game. Online gives the franchise so much potentials to expand and it's one of the things fans want to see the most out of Nintendo. Unfortunately, knowing Nintendo, none of the games I want outside of Smash are going to get made (F-zero, Star Fox or a Custom Robo game). As for a Retro game, I fully expect it to be a new IP. It should be great, but I don't think I'm going to be interested in the long run.

Mother is starting to recover a little with Earthbound's VC release, though. It will never be the same as it once was, but it's still there.

Mother is more like that almost dead patient in the hospital that you forget about because he shares a room with F-Zero and Mach Rider.

Unlike F-zero, Mother is already finished as a franchise, so I can understand it ending. But I legitimately thought that Western Mother fan base was going to dissipate within the next decade or so due to so little contents being release. The fact that the game is even getting a Virtual Console release at all is good enough for me (hoping that there's not any significant changes).

F-zero on the other hand is a franchise I'm really worried about, There's still untapped potentials for the franchise and to see it die would be a huge shame.

F-Zero is on life support.

But Mother just made a pretty recent recovery. I mean getting a VC spot for Earthbound is pretty big.

Yeah what SSBF said. Mother IS OVER. The saga is finished.

I don't think VC means anything for a franchise. F-Zero has some VC stuff too after all.

I'm a big fan of M3, but Itoi pretty much said he didn't want to do it anymore
Well the Mother Saga as others have said, is completed. It finished strong though. I won't complain.

At least people are developing a fan-made Mother 4
Really?

That's like people making a Lord of the Rings 2. It just doesn't seem right. The story was already concluded. There is no need for another one.

It's not going to be further in the future most likely, probably like a direct sequel to EB with graphics and maybe battle mechanics of M3.

Take GX, and add online . That's all they have to do to get me to buy it.

How can you guys hate on someone trying to make their own game? Really, props to whoever has enough skill and ambition to make a game themselves, even if it's a fan-made sequel.

I'm not hating, and I respect them for attempting. I hope they do well and maybe show Nintendo that fans want a sequel (though that's really doubtful)
Darn the internet for making me seem like a sarcastic noob.

When did I say I hated it?

I just said it didn't feel right as the story is concluded.

And props to anyone who can make a game. It's hard work.

K.Rool is so close to overtaking Little Mac.

I am glad that Mewtwo, Ridley, Mac, and K.Rool are in the top five though.

Shortie, I think that was the 1,600 votes comparison. No way did I see Mega Man get ninty-nine out of 100 votes.

As for the poll itself, the Top Five is all good stuff (Mega Man being at #1 makes me especially happy). I'm also pleased to see that Krystal and Zoroark have surpassed Pac-Man and that Dixie Kong and Goroh are rising up the poll. Disappointed that Waluigi's gap from Isaac is increasing.
