I dont think Toad is going to be playable, nor do I even like the character very much. I was merely going with the whole smash bros must release news with a major game release philosophy.

I can live without the Subspace cutscenes.

I did like them though. Unfortunately the SSE was very poorly executed. I still found it to be fun though.

It was fun... Until Tabuu came and required players to replay already beaten levels...
But I did enjoy the cutscenes for what they were worth.

He not only said something that nobody is talking about, as nobody is actually saying Toad is guaranteed, but nobody is saying he's definitely not going getting in.

He's just trying to rile people up by clear trolling and does not know what Sakurai will do and never will. Until the game comes out with Toad not playable, he could very much be playable. This is pretty much as accurate as we can get Toad's chances. Sakurai already said that movesets could change. That means Toad is not guaranteed to be Peach's B near the end.

That's literally it when it comes to Toad's chances. I don't even think they're high, but I won't kid myself; He could still get in. And it would be glorious if he did.

Yeah yeah...people thought Toon Link was out too because of his descendant being on the train.

I'm unsure whether Toad is still likely or not, but it's not over 'till it's over, so I'm not counting him out just yet.

Maybe.

Keep in mind that the Link in the background of the Spirit Tracks stage is a different person from Toon Link, who is literally one person from both WW and PH. They're different people.

It's a slightly different situation, since Peach's version of Toad appears to be the actual main Toad. Of course, it depends if you mean the Main Toad being playable or just any Toad in general(as in the generic race, not the other notable ones like Toadsworth).

So I'm not entirely sure that'll be the case. While I would like to think Sakurai wouldn't care, I don't remember any cases where you can play as the exact same person as the character in the background of a stage. I realize that they're both designed toon-like, but it's a slightly different story.

I do think Toad could be playable, but I really doubt he will unless Peach gets a new B move. Why not Toadsworth(as her B)? He actually is her current protector...

For example, if Sakurai confirmed that Ridley would be a stage hazard, people on here would have reactions like:

"Well, that's Other M Ridley! We can still have Ridley!" or "Sakurai is trolling us!"

It's never gonna be that easy for people to admit that their character doesn't have a chance.

If 3D World comes to pass and nothing is shown, I'm fully expecting "They haven't shown any newcomers yet, they're holding him back for later" or "He's an unlockable, of course he's not being shown yet."

Well, with Toad, people are only giving him consideration still is because of what Sakurai said in the Pic of the Day, that some of her moves may be changed. I doubt this means Toad, probably just the animations and regular attacks.

While, in the slight possibility, it could be a hint towards Toad, it's still extremely unlikely, and I doubt he'll be back. I'm 99% sure he's not gonna be in, and it will go to 100% once we see another pic of him on the site.

I have high doubts of Toad at this point. His chances are slim, and will be even more slim if he isn't revealed by the release of Super Mario 3D World. I'm not going to be absolutely certain of it though, unless a newcomer is released along with an anniversary/game release prior to SM3DW, (IIRC Little Mac has a chance of being revealed in November) and Toad isn't during the release of SM3DW, at which point I'll be 100% sure he won't be getting in.
