I'm not certain if Sakurai may try to pair Diddy up with Dixie like the Ice Climbers are. Whether he does or not, I still dislike that idea.

I like it for trying to call back to DKC2, but dislike it for what it will do to Diddy and his existing playstyle.

I still think it might be Mewtwo.

I wouldn't mind either way. But considering the situation we had that makes the Ice Climbers iffy, I think he'll probably just drop the idea for them. Similar reasons why I don't think any new Duo characters are coming in. I'd have loved Plusle & Minun too(assuming they were ever planned), but there's other ways to rep each Gen. No Gen was left unrepped thusfar. If we get a direct Gen VI character, we can expect Gen V Poke Ball Pokemon.

Sakurai has done a kickass job at showing off every Generation of Pokemon so far, and you can argue playable as well.

Yeah the Ice Climber issue is the only thing that gets in their way. But once/if the Ice Climber issue is figured out, I would imagine that the team would use the existing code and apply it to other potential duo characters. I mean theoretically, the hard part would be solved through the Ice Climber's trial and errors.

Yeah, it shouldn't be too hard to create a second duo character after successfully creating one. The problem I think, would be the memory it takes up as well as balance. Plus, Diddy and Dixie could easily be able to do things that the other can't, it would kind of take away from their characters and potential.

If Dixie got in, part of me wants her to be paired up with Kiddy, kinda like how Sakurai originally planned for Diddy and Dixie to be paired up. (not like the ice climbers, but like how they are teamed up in the original DKC games) Kiddy isn't that notable, but still...it would make Dixie seem like less of a clone or semi-clone.

I want Diddy to stay an independent character.

I find him the most likely. If only because it has two Mega Evolutions. Then Lucario cause he has one. Jigglypuff for being a new type. Trainer is the lowest only because one of his Pokemon has a Mega Evolution. The other is that if Ice Climbers is having trouble, Trainer is in the same boat. Also, Sakurai may change around Trainer's Pokemon besides Charizard for all we know. Or them all. He just went with the most generic style of Trainer he could think of, but used the most recognized character design, being Red. My guess is that he doesn't really care enough about the model at all, and just wanted to show off the latest Gen III look at best.(he does show off tons of each Generation, after all.) Keep in mind, I've looked at the so-called plans for Melee, and two things show up that supports this theory;

-Sakurai wanted to put in a Gold/Silver Pokemon.(he only did after clones were available, since Pichu was easy)
-He wanted to put in a Pokemon Trainer.(this is the big one; He just wanted to show off the mechanic)

Keep in mind the original source is nowhere to be found, but I think others can confirm the "Melee plans" if they're real or not.

IMO, I'd prefer Diddy and Dixie separated. I think I have an idea of what his plans could've been for them as a team. Instead of fighting at the same time, they'd just switch between each other(think of like how Mario Kart Double Dash does it), but have both models onscreen at once. It's similar to how Zelda/Sheik and Trainer do it.

I would put more stock in Diddy/Dixie due to AC being added, but the fact that he's had trouble with IC's and Olimar makes me wonder if they would even be possible

Dixie is one of my "best bet" choices. Along with Chrom and Mewtwo.

Yeah, it shouldn't be too hard to create a second duo character after successfully creating one. The problem I think, would be the memory it takes up as well as balance. Plus, Diddy and Dixie could easily be able to do things that the other can't, it would kind of take away from their characters and potential.

From what I've been seeing/hearing from Sakurai and these daily pictures i'm not worried on the balance front. Memory is a issue though, but I think if they really wanted it to happen they would find a way to make it happen.

Personally I agree, I think Diddy does have enough potential to be his own character. Dixie on the other hand, I can't really say. She hasn't really appeared/done much like Diddy who has gotten some of his moves from games like DK64 which Dixie was absent from. Not saying it will hurt her chances. I think she was in the Diddy Kong Racing sequel and that barrel rocket racing game.

I did make a Dixie & Kiddy thread a while back. But a couple folks said they would rather have Diddy & Dixie, saying that Kiddy was-- everyone's favorite word --"irrelevant."

Yeah Sakurai wanted to include Dixie in the game, he mentioned in a Famitsu article that she was intended to be with Diddy.

Hades is possibly the best villain I've ever seen in a story. I really would like if Pit (and possibly other KI characters) has codec calls like the Star Fox characters and Snake. The dialogue in that game was very well written.

Wait how did you guys imagine the Diddy+Dixie team playing??? Because that is how imagined them playing all along. I made a whole moveset on the Dixie+Kiddy thread about the potential moveset that can be applied to a Diddy+Dixie moveset.

It depends if he wants to make the character the actual Red, which would work out since he has an Anime appearance, it's the perfect time to do it. I doubt that'll be the case, mind you. He doesn't seem to really show Yoshi as any more than a generic guy besides the SSE at best. And he's barely notable in it either...

Jigglypuff probably will have something. Maybe some her moves will look mystical like Zelda/Peach's. Even though Fairy is closer to mystical arts and the Fae, it does probably have some magical elements(as in elements of a work, not earth/fire/etc.), so it fits like that for the purposes of Smash.

Exactly like the games(if I remember correctly). The first character actually does stuff, but can switch to the other one who'd be able to do different stuff. Basically, the second one runs in the background like PT does(except right next to you). Imagine Ice Climbers, but Nana cannot attack or be attacked. You press a button to switch the two, and now Popo is in that position. It's the same idea as Pokemon Trainer, but with two characters, and two models total. Remember in Paper Mario(64 and GC versions) where you could switch between both characters, while the other one is inactive during battle? It's practically like that.

If Toad is announced with 3D world, then it will probably be in some sort of Nintendo Direct along with unrevealed aspects of the game. I almost feel like Smash has more info than 3D World and it is not coming out for another year.
