There is no possibility Ridley isn't playable; I SHAVED MY HEAD!!! I haven't done that in 10 years!!!

(I also didn't have like really long and thick hair back then either)

My previously most wanted potential newcomer (Mega Man) was the "big reveal" before, so why can't my new #1 (Ridley) be the next newcomer revealed=???

I don't know if I should be happy or nervous.

That hole is where Ridley escaped is it not?

It looks kinda big....

Sakurai made a size joke last week with a Olimar/Kirby picture (noting Olimar is much taller in Smash Wii U even though Kirby is actually several times taller than Olimar).

It's almost like Sakurai knows the stupid size arguments. Heck, having Bowser in it hints at it!!!

Seriously, I'm going to laugh if Ridley is indeed playable, and smaller/shorter than Samus!!! Or maybe Ridley is the new biggest character!

Ness disconfirmed.

"Ridley, who has not been playable in Smash Bros, up until now" should be how Ridley is confirmed!!!

Also, only part of his toe should be visible, and it should take up the entire Dojo.

Does Sakurai even know about the size issue?

Who doesn't=??? It's the only thing Ridley detractors say anymore... that and "Bowser h@5 t3h m@g1c 3xcu53!!!!"

Seriously though, this is pretty damning...

...for people not expecting Ridley.

The last time Sakurai hinted at a character like this was Ness. That should put a nail in that coffin.

Sakurai also has brought up character size, character to stage scale, stage size, and character height, all of which Sakurai has made BIGGER.

I fully expect Ridley to be announced as a playable character, but I don't know when. It could be at this Gamescon, it could be a random date, it could be at E3, it could be a few days before either game is released. But either way, I know, I just know it will happen now.

Guys, Ridley playable has to happen.

I mean C'MON!!!! I shaved my head the day before this happened. I joked "I wouldn't be surprised if Diddy Kong was confirmed today!!!" before the Dojo update that confirmed Diddy Kong.

This is coming from the guy who's guessed 8 straight NBA Finals (between the two teams) right, and 10 of the last 12 Super Bowls right (between the two right). Heck, when I used to gamble, my friends never bet on anything against me, because I am a betting beast. I got the cards stacked in, and now the flop is gonna give me a Royal Flush guys...

...and I'm giving it to Ridley!!!

Look, I'm not saying that Ridley won't be in, but just to play devil's advocate, saying that this "confirms" him because the same happened with Ness is simply grasping at straws for one last bit of hope. It's ok John, you can cry, we won't judge you.

That just isn't good business. You didn't see Steve Jobs with the iPhone got "oh, and one less thing [the iPhone can do]", but rather, "oh, and one more thing [the iPhone can do]." That's simply business suicide. If Sakurai does this with even one character it will deflate hype, and deflate hype for no real rhyme or reason. And again, it wouldn't build hype, but destroy it.

Right about now, the seemingly dead in the water Wii U needs all the hype that it can get, and deflating hype for its' most hyped title right now (or so I think) would be a suicide move.

But hey, it's Nintendo; they love committing suicide with the Wii U. Like when the Wii U have no memory, made the Wii U not support wired controllers, made the Wii U region-locked (unlike the Xbox One or PS4), timed the release of games in the worst way possible, and really have terribly hyped up their Wii U brand, games, and products to where used tampons sold about as many units as the Wii U.

So hey, if Nintendo wants to go back to love hotels, maybe by deconfirmed Ridley, a rare potentially groundbreaking newcomer, in the most d*ckish way possible way, is the way to go if Nintendo wants to fail and get Dreamcast'd.

And it will be glorious! If Ridley ends up not playable then perhaps the SSB4 roster might very well end up not too conservative. A SSB4 roster with zero cuts and only popular newcomers never excited me... that's why I was more hyped over Villager and Wii Fit Trainer than I was for Mega Man (and I love Mega Man and Mega Man X games).

Meh, I would just shrug it off and say "one more character for me to try out" and move on. I am not emotionally invested into Ridley.

Also I have troubles believing that Mega Man (the most wanted third party) and Ridley (the most wanted Nintendo newcomer) would be some of the first people revealed if Sakurai didn't have something MAJOR up his sleeve.

Why would you play both of your strongest hands so early?

Now what exactly would be so major to do that? I think revealing Ridley in light of the WiiU's abysmal sales may actually be a wise thing. Remember, they need to build up as much hype as possible. Ridley would make Smashboards explode.

Welp, I guess I know what we'll be talking about the rest of the week on here.

As for this stage, Sakurai could've picked it specifically to help represent a newcomer (ala Halberd). However I wouldn't call the hole in the wall (or the caption) a good sign.

At least there's a semi-decent chance of finding out relatively soon.

The lava hole in the wall was always there. I do think that the Halberd analogy is a very real possibility. Him coming in at any second is highly reminiscent of how Meta Knight, Pit, and Zero Suit Samus showed up in the Brawl trailer.
