It seems like a lot of people stopped playing pokemon during some phase when it became unpopular to do so and picked up Diamond/ Pearl when it came out.

Apparently many of the famous pokemon youtubers and the likes skipped generation 3, just like I did and went straight into Diamon and Pearl

Probably why generation 3 remake isn't as requested as generation 2 despite a very vocal group. Because most of us pokemon fans reached a point where liking pokemon became dorky so we stopped until people didn't care anymore, and that point just happened to be during generation 3.

I almost skipped Gen IV. It was very boring as hell. At least till HG/SS came out.

Anyway, I'm not sure if I'd want a Gen V or VI rep of the two.

I completely disagree with you, Generation IV was a lot better than Generation V. Casually and competitevely

I enjoyed competitive battle during generation IV. The physical/ special split was revolutionary.

It also introduced a lot of interesting pokemon that are amount my favorites such as vespiquen and drapion.

Generation V had a boring layout of the world and mostly boring pokemon, and extremely bad starters in comparison. What it introduced to pokemon is a bunch of "broken" pokemon and abilities which changed a lot of the game and I felt it made it boring.

...and somehow the sucky Venusaur got a lot of boosts and ended up in OU

Also, on a completely unrelated note, I've just won a Facebook contest to get stuff in Animal Crossing. Hell yeah! :awesome:
From now on, you must replace the word "Hell" with "heel" as your personal quirk. It makes you more endearing as a character.

So get used to saying things such as:

"Heel yeah!"

or

"What the heel?!"

Note that I skipped it till HG/SS came out. Diamond/Pearl/Platinum were boring and slow. As for Gen V, it was way better and more fun. The changes were far superior. And the Gen IV starters were far more boring to me. I found the Gen V ones superior as well. And I don't just mean Serperior.

There was nothing wrong with either's world, anyway. Gen IV did give one good thing, which was the special/physical split, but beyond that? Can't really see what was so good about it.

I just can't imagine how you could think the starters of generation V were good at all.

Their movepools were incredibly shallow compared to the starters of generation IV, and the fact that serperior and Samurott were single typed didn't help that.

Empoleon was a defensive master, resisting 11 types and being completely immune to a 12th, while infernape was a powerhouse. BOTH were in OU, compared to Samurott in NU and emboar in RU. Emboar is an idiotic design anyway, a slow defensive FIRE TYPE. Weak against ground and rock.

Torterra, which having horribly crippling weaknesses had an awesome movepool and a nice design, while Serperior is stuck with no real attacks and even his dream ability leaves him using the same predictable attack over and over again. He has no variety

TBH Black/ White 2 solved a lot of the problems I had with the original. Because they left out the old pokemon, many of the routes were stuck with little pokemon and the amount of types that were located in each area felt extremely limited. I went through an entire section of the game where I had no pokemon with an advantage over the wild pokemon in the area, mostly because I started with serperior, and it was a pain to get through.

I'm not a competitive Pokemon player. I didn't find the Gen IV starters that interesting at all as is. No reason to.

I'm not bothered about the type differences.

I liked they left out old Pokemon, actually. The only issues I had with BW and 2 was how hyper linear they were, and story forced it.

You don't have to be a competitive player to realize Serperior using the same attack over and over is boring compared to Torterra being able to learn Earthquake and stone edge, along with the awesome Wood Hammer and Superpower.

As if I'd give myself a gimmick, heel hell no.
Gimmicks, yes gimmicks suit the Neon Heels.
The type of gimmicks that make people say "Hey, whats their deal?"
Lame gimmicks that make people say "Are they for real!?"

Who needs to realize it? I'm not bothered when I spam the same attack at all. It's fine to me.

I just go with what's the best move at the time, regardless if I have to use the same move over and over.

I still play to win, but I don't mind that.

Also my comment about being single type ISN'T saying that dual types are better than single types, it's just referring to the fact that single type pokemon usually have more limited movesets than dual typed

I was wondering when I was going to get an angry Banjo fan response. :awesome:
Well, it was gonna be either me or N3ON.

Though I guess she'd have been a lot nicer about it than me, after all, someone has to be the a**hole around here, might as well be me, HAHAHAHA.

Metal when did you become so Asian and sexy?

Agreed.

How come you're not a girl Metal?

As if I'd give myself a gimmick, heel hell no.
Reminds me of the time I made your gimmick to be HOLDING things, like Holding John off till I got there to fight him, HOLDING Kuma down, etc...

Your gimmick is that you keep your baby the heel away from Mr. CombustingFetus up there, due to his gimmick which should be obvious.
Oh my GOD, I ****ing lost it with this. Hahahahahahaha! I literally woke up the neighbors in a giggle fit.

Limited rarely bothers me unless I can't put a move on I specifically want. Which is rare.

Anyway, if we had a new Gen version of Pokemon Trainer(using regular Starters only), what should he/she be?

Now that's a gimmick that is less gimmicky that I can get behind. There's a lot more I can do with that and it has more meaning. I'll back this, hell I even play with the Heels thing, but no way am I going to have some sort of speech quirk!

Ground, Rock, and Ice and it should take place in a mountainous Tibetan/ Himalayan region.
Uhm....

Remove the trio, make you start off with a normal type that has lackluster stats unless you put the time into him.

OR

Two Pokemon.

Both are weak to each other, one is a monotype and one a dual type, both have their strengths and weaknesses in regard to combat, so choosing one will affect your game strategy.

Like one could have better raw stats, while the other has a better ability and movepool.

I have always thought that it'd be nice to have the switch up the types of the first Pokemon, it'd seriously throw everyone for a loop.

Oasis is actually a famous manga artist and is a currently writing a manga entirely based on Smashboards. This thread specifically.

Fire Emblem arguments sold separately.
You actually don't know the half of it dude...

Forget the starter wheel.

Set up multiple different starting points all throughout the region in various settings that alter what types you start with that also slightly changes the story told.

Wasn't the go-to "OMG let's change the starter types" Dark-Psychic-Fighting for a long time? In any case, I doubt Game Freak would change up the primary types for the starters. Grass-Water-Fire is the go-to arrangement because it's something young children can easily figure out(Fire burns Grass, Grass absorbs Water, Water douses Fire). Now try getting a little kid to figure out on their own that martial arts is super effective against shadows.

That'd be complicated to write, but it would be incredibly awesome.

Even better if you have to catch your starter, so that way it isn't anything 'special.'

I normally box starters these days anyway.

We talked about alternate starter types in the pokecenter and this is the list we came up with

Grass, Water, Fire.
Water, Electric, Ground *
Psychic, Fighting, Dark *
Grass, Poison, Ground
Rock, Bug, Grass
Ground, Fire, Ice
Ground, Steel, Ice
Flying, Fighting, Rock
Ice, Flying, Fighting
Rock, Fire, Steel
Rock, Ice, Ground
Rock, Ice, Grass
Rock, Fire, Grass
Rock, Flying, Grass
Ground, Fire, Grass

The star indicates it doesn't exactly work because of immunity as opposed to weakness

And yes, I now realize Ground Ice Rock IS one the list. I just kinda goofed with that

Edit 2: Rock, ice and grass are one the list A LOT because they have a lot of weaknesses, or should I say common weaknesses.

Aren't they doing that with the new starters?

Fire/Physic, Water/Fighting, Grass/Dark

That way the Fire and Water starters are weak to each other. A little confusing, but cool.
