Am I the only one in here who doesn't really want any more pokemon reps?
Nintendo has SO many franchises without any kind of representation that by this point, give me ONE Pokemon alongside Pikachu and I'll handle.
No one should care about representation, but rather, having the best playable characters possible.
Pokémon has far more viable and unique choices than any other franchise, and it's not even close, which is why the uniqueness of the playable characters from said franchise is very evident. I mean, we had 6 in Brawl, and all of them either have (in any smash game) have realized incredible potential or have shown us incredible potential. Mewtwo also showed incredible potential and heck, I think there is some for Pichu as well (my character ideas for it showcase this).
Pokémon like Plusle and Minun (possibly one of the Forbidden Seven, Breloom, and a few other Pokémon also have incredible potential for being very good playable characters.
Of course, that doesn't mean Smash will turn into a giant Pokémon fest, because it shouldn't.

Still, I have a numerical formula for playable Pokémon in Smash thus far. Smash has always been in the range of 1/6th to 1/7th of the roster being playable Pokémon. I think that range is interesting, and could be an indicator of how many playable Pokémon we get this time.. I love looking at these numbers and finding some kind of formula, especially since these numbers are true in every smash game (thus far at least).
If let us say we keep the 6 Pokémon in Brawl plus get Mewtwo, that's 7 playable Pokémon, and they would fit in that same range with 42 to 49 playable characters. If the playable character amount is 49 to 56, 8 playable Pokémon (the Brawl playable Pokémon + Mewtwo + Pichu/a new playable Pokémon) would fit in that range (although anything above 53 playable characters is crazy to expect IMO).
