Konami got Castlevania this time and be glad Bomberman is represented at all. I never understood the mindset that a character deserves more than any other, there's only a few available slots for DLC so it's obvious every fan requested character wouldn't make the cut.
This only gives Bomberman far more brand awareness especially for people who never played any of his games.
I'm not exactly unhappy at the Mii costume, but to say that I should be content with any form of representation is just absurd. I like the characters I like, you like the characters you like. At the end of the day, we're going to want those characters in over other characters (e.g. Bomberman would've been a MUCH better choice than Simon). Sakurai isn't some god that has blessed me, and I don't owe him anything. Ultimately, he is the producer, and I am the consumer. Why should I be content just because its hard work? If I don't like a product, I don't have to buy it. Obviously I shouldn't be overly critical for the sake of being critical, but I am allowed to critique what characters get in or which would fit better, no?
Like I said, the Mii costume is much better than some assist trophy, which is technically better than nothing or some png spirit. So if that's all he's gonna get, yes I'm happy with that, because something is better than nothing (I'll still buy the Mii costume just to send them a message that he's a beloved character). But to see what could've been is rather frustrating, especially when he got essentially a runner up prize. How much more would it have taken to make him a character if he got a mii costume?
Hopefully this didn't sound like a rant lol, the internet translates tone so poorly. Just trying to debate.
I think the human characters would be way more likely to fall into the uncanny valley if they tried to make deluxe mii costumes for them. So I think even Ashley, Jeff or Prince of Sable could be a bit awkward looking. (Knuckle Joe might be too short)
I'm not sure if Shovel Knight as a sword fighter would actually be perfect....so far the deluxe costumes have done a decent job of representing the characters. Sans and Cuphead as gunners....and Bomberman as a brawler, while not perfect...at least he doesn't have a weapon for no reason.
Shovel Knight on the other hand doesn't use his shovel like a sword at all. I think he'd end up being the least "immersive" of all the deluxe costumes.
This is exactly why a character is better. A Mii costume at the end of the day its just an afterthought. I'm assuming Bomberman had the same situation as Rex from Xenoblade treatment in that case. A Mii costume trying to mimic a character just feels wrong, which is why I wish they would put in more costumes that, you know, actually go on Miis like the astronaut suit, business suit, hoodie, etc. instead of [insert intellectual property here]. I at least hope he has special voice clips.
