So far I've only been genuinely hyped for Richter. I mean K Rool and Ridley were exciting to but mainly because of what it meant for the roster.

Well...that is disappointin.
I personally don't think it means anything. 108 stages is probably accurate but my guess is that Nintendo asked them to fix it for the latest issue since they still haven't revealed those stages yet

Stating what I said in the Shantae thread.
"Eh, it's a bit of a grey area. They definitely screwed up somewhere, but it can be any number of reasons. Was it a typo, and there is really only 103 errors, or did they make the mistake of revealing the stage count to early and Nintendo told them off and made them restate it as 103 in order to make things more ambiguous."

to be added in the support group.I'm definitely hyped for Simon! I played the original Castlevania trilogy many many years ago and have fond memories of them (still need to beat 3. Lol). In fact, Castlevania 2: Simons Quest is THE first video game I remember playing. So when I saw Snake get into Brawl, I thought that also meant Simon had a great chance to get in. Didn't know I would wait 10+ years for that to happen.
My second would be K. Rool. I've played the first DKC game many times despite not owning a SNES, but my very first owned console was the DK64 Jungle Green N64 (and still have it in great condition too) and sure enough, my first N64 game I owned was DK64. What an amazing game! Still love it to this day. It always weirded me out that K. Rool was never in Smash for so long. Just seeing DK & Diddy without K. Rool just feels off. Not anymore! About freaking time he got in!

Victory theme should probably be the victory music from GS after a battle, remixed or origional.
Animations:
1. Screen is empty then has a sand cloud drift onscreen and Isaac reforms in a crouched position then stands into psynergy using stance with his hand in the air.
2. Isaac is sitting Indian style and uses lift on himself to float.
3. A Djinn appears behind Isaac and lands on his head, then Isaac smiles and a smiley bubble pops up above him like in GS.

This whole stage deal has me really bummed out. I hope the ‘Nintendo told CoroCoro to lie’ theory is true, but for the first time, I got the feeling that Isaac might not make it in.

I've kept an open mind to the possibility of Isaac instead being DLC since the suspicious second trademark renewal only happened in August, whereas K. Rool's happened back in 2015. Even so, I think it'll just make speculation here feel miserably negative to take this reversion back to 103 at face value. It's just as real a possibility that they're trying to cover the truth up by bringing ambiguity back into it.

There's no reason for 108 to have been said in the first place. There isn't any chance that it was a simple typo, since that "108" thing was actually a graphic, not typed text.
Besides, I don't really buy that they are prone to making a typo such as that when it's a monthly-printed magazine. Those tend to go through several revisions, so it's more likely that they were fed 108, with Nintendo anticipating at least one of the new stages would be revealed, but that didn't come through because of the delay.

It makes sense that it was corrected to 103 for this issue anyways cause that is the stage total currently. Of course if this means speculation becomes insufferable again time to take a break lol.

The question I have is: Why did they not clarify the stage total sooner? The issue that told us 108 stages has been out for over a month now. Yet at no point did anyone at Coro Coro, Nintendo, or even Sakurai himself come forward and tell us that the "108 stages" was inaccurate. It seems like if you had put out a mistake that generates a lot of attention, you would want to clarify that stuff right away (not a month later when everyone has taken it as fact).

Honestly I don’t think there is any reason to get worked up over the 103 stages unless a proper translation stating they made a typo in the last issue is said. There is no way a major magazine would make such a big mistake without announcing their correction of it.

I just remembered a dream I had a couple of days ago.
It involved a Smash Direct where they revealed Spirits as some sort of story mode with Hades as the main villain. Then it showed a cutscene with a ton of characters lying on the ground defeated (I think it was Ike, Shulk, Little Mac, Marth and someone else). Then Isaac appeared, sword drawn, and Hades said something like ‘Pitiful. Just another swordfighter’. Isaac sighed, sheathed his sword, used Venus Psynergy and his reveal trailer began (as his battle theme started playing).
It was pretty awesome (the same dream also contained a fakeout trailer for something Breath of the Wild related ending with a Bandanna Dee reveal)

I don't think it bodes well for Isaac. I mean if 103 is the final stage count for the game, then his chances are dramatically lowered IMO. Mainly because I can't see Isaac being added in without Venus/Mars Lighthouse being in the game.
Unless it's a deal where Isaac's stage is included post-release then maybe that changes things but I think that it's reaching at this point. Still want to hope Isaac and Felix (as an Echo) will be included as DLC if they're not base roster.

I feel like no matter how you look at the stage thing, things still look good. The only brand new character that "has" arrived with a stage so far is Simon/Richter (right?) I wouldnt be surprised if Isaac arrives without a stage like Ridley, K-Rool, Isabelle and all the echos did.
I also wouldnt be surprised if one of the missing stage slots "did" end up being a Golden Sun stage, since most people speculate the remaining stages will be revealed along with the last couple newcomers. This is what I think is most likely, he'll be revealed along with a stage for him.
I really feel like Isaac is a lock either way. If we dont get a stage for him then Ill just go live on battlefield Magicant <3

Of course they aren't gonna keep spoiling it. This doesn't mean anything lol. They aren't gonna design a perfect square roster and leave an ugly empty gap when they could've filled it already by resizing the list if 103 was already all of it. 108 just makes sense and will happen.

I don't believe that personally. I'm of the belief that 108 was a legit screw up on the part of CoroCoro. As in it was 103 but they put 108 by mistake.

Damn your right I forgot bout Inkling and I didnt consider that every other char added so far already has stage representation...
Still, like I said I feel like Isaac being introduced along with a stage is what is most likely.

If 103 is true and 108 was a mistake, I'll call it GG for base roster. I've never seen CoroCoro backpedal like this before, so I honestly don't know what to think.

I do to. It's the only way I see Isaac getting in. It's just with 103 being the likely end game for the base roster, it doesn't bode well for our Golden Boy. At least for the base roster.
80-20 that they made an error in that issue. Of course there's no way to prove that but at the same time saying that they accidentally leaked 108 is reaching.

Frankly if the last claim of 108 had been a typo, you'd expect any reputable magazine to print a retraction in the newer issue.

Dormancy excludes popular characters all the time, it's the fact that only a few characters prove the exception which forms the basis of those claims. Sakurai himself has said something to the effect of characters with a future standing at greater odds of inclusion.

I don't think we've had a new IP go stageless since ROB, and ROB is still considered really weird because of it. I don't want to be a pessimist but I wouldn't really expect any third party or new IPs if this is the case.
Do we have any examples of CoroCoro even doing anything like this, stating a number and then retconning it later on? I can't think of this ever happening, or CoroCoro ever being wrong for that matter.

I hope 103 is not the real number. Still holding out for a Venus Lighthouse stage. I think they're just backtracking to the official number from the direct, not the final number.

This situation got me thinking about the ESRB leak. People saw Shulk and debated on if it was real or not, but when Nintendo took down the video of it, just about everyone agreed that it was real. For the Coro Coro mistake, I wonder if they didn't want another situation where they hastily try to cover it up. Either way, I think it is most likely that there will be 108 stages in the base game.
They have yet to say they made a mistake in the September issue as well (saying 103 stages are in the game is not an acknowledgement that the issue before was wrong). I certainly expect a credible organization to admit mistakes in a timely manner. If the stage total in the base game turns out to be 103, I will no longer consider Coro Coro a credible source.

For some reason, I have this weird feeling that Sakurai and his team at this point are trolling us because a lot of people believe in leakers like Vergeben and the box theory right now. Basically get everyone to accept that we are getting 2 characters that we've heard of only to go "SURPRISE! Here's even more characters that you asked for!" A great way to make people stop believing fake (and possibly real) leaks.
Of course, that's my overflowing optimism leaking out. lol
