So far I've only been genuinely hyped for Richter. I mean K Rool and Ridley were exciting to but mainly because of what it meant for the roster.

Well...that is disappointin.Uh-oh. I just saw this in the General Speculation thread...
Seems like the latest Coro Coro issue is going back to the 103 stage total, as opposed to 108 in the previous issues. Thanks @DartsEnthusiast for the heads up.https://t.co/eTIHx4MnkB

Suddenly, new franchises look a lot less likely.
I personally don't think it means anything. 108 stages is probably accurate but my guess is that Nintendo asked them to fix it for the latest issue since they still haven't revealed those stages yetUh-oh. I just saw this in the General Speculation thread...

Welcome fellow Adept! Make sure you pin True Blue Warrior to be added in the support group.Hello!
How do i join?
I'm a new user and that stuff
Isaac is one of my most wanted so...
I'm definitely hyped for Simon! I played the original Castlevania trilogy many many years ago and have fond memories of them (still need to beat 3. Lol). In fact, Castlevania 2: Simons Quest is THE first video game I remember playing. So when I saw Snake get into Brawl, I thought that also meant Simon had a great chance to get in. Didn't know I would wait 10+ years for that to happen.Out of all the newcomers so far, who is everyone most hype for? For me it was the Belmont duo.
After that probably Ridley. Almost more so for what it meant in terms of possibilty.
Right now, there's a bit of debate on whether or not 108 stages could still be true. I'd give a link, but I still have more support threads to give the bad news to and don't want to override my announcement post in my clipboard.Well...that is disappointin.
Victory theme should probably be the victory music from GS after a battle, remixed or origional.I'm bored...
Anyway, what would be a good Victory Theme and Victory Animations for Isaac?
Agreed. I really hate having to be a downer, and Isaac is my fifth-most-wanted, but you guys had to find out at some point. This whole stage deal has me really bummed out. I hope the ‘Nintendo told CoroCoro to lie’ theory is true, but for the first time, I got the feeling that Isaac might not make it in.
I've kept an open mind to the possibility of Isaac instead being DLC since the suspicious second trademark renewal only happened in August, whereas K. Rool's happened back in 2015. Even so, I think it'll just make speculation here feel miserably negative to take this reversion back to 103 at face value. It's just as real a possibility that they're trying to cover the truth up by bringing ambiguity back into it.This whole stage deal has me really bummed out. I hope the ‘Nintendo told CoroCoro to lie’ theory is true, but for the first time, I got the feeling that Isaac might not make it in.
It makes sense that it was corrected to 103 for this issue anyways cause that is the stage total currently. Of course if this means speculation becomes insufferable again time to take a break lol. There is just no way they would leave those empty spaces in the stage select screen either. In terms of aesthetics, it's ugly. 108 stages is definitely happening in my opinion
Yeah I havent played much DK games sadly but even so I still felt like DK was too classic not to have his villian present.Welcome fellow Adept! Make sure you pin True Blue Warrior to be added in the support group.

My second would be K. Rool. I've played the first DKC game many times despite not owning a SNES, but my very first owned console was the DK64 Jungle Green N64 (and still have it in great condition too) and sure enough, my first N64 game I owned was DK64. What an amazing game! Still love it to this day. It always weirded me out that K. Rool was never in Smash for so long. Just seeing DK & Diddy without K. Rool just feels off. Not anymore! About freaking time he got in!
Got to love how Little Mac was there, wonder if he was treated as a sword fighter, dream logic and all.I just remembered a dream I had a couple of days ago.
It involved a Smash Direct where they revealed Spirits as some sort of story mode with Hades as the main villain. Then it showed a cutscene with a ton of characters lying on the ground defeated (I think it was Ike, Shulk, Little Mac, Marth and someone else). Then Isaac appeared, sword drawn, and Hades said something like ‘Pitiful. Just another swordfighter’. Isaac sighed, sheathed his sword, used Venus Psynergy and his reveal trailer began (as his battle theme started playing).
It was pretty awesome (the same dream also contained a fakeout trailer for something Breath of the Wild related ending with a Bandanna Dee reveal)
If only there was a way to make out Smash Dreams a reality.I just remembered a dream I had a couple of days ago.

I feel like no matter how you look at the stage thing, things still look good. The only brand new character that "has" arrived with a stage so far is Simon/Richter (right?) I wouldnt be surprised if Isaac arrives without a stage like Ridley, K-Rool, Isabelle and all the echos did.You guys acting like there’s a chance Isaac won’t get in.
Fo shame.

There is no missing stages dude. Or at least none of which are confirmed to happen.I also wouldnt be surprised if one of the missing stage slots "did" end up being a Golden Sun stage, since most people speculate the remaining stages will be revealed along with the last couple newcomers. This is what I think is most likely, he'll be revealed along with a stage for him.
Of course they aren't gonna keep spoiling it. This doesn't mean anything lol. They aren't gonna design a perfect square roster and leave an ugly empty gap when they could've filled it already by resizing the list if 103 was already all of it. 108 just makes sense and will happen.Uh-oh. I don't believe that personally. I'm of the belief that 108 was a legit screw up on the part of CoroCoro. As in it was 103 but they put 108 by mistake.Of course they aren't gonna keep spoiling it. Heh, didn’t expect my words to come back and bite me in the ass so soon. Guess things aren’t looking that bad either."An evil spirit grips GoodGrief741!"

I really feel like Isaac is a lock either way. If we dont get a stage for him then Ill just go live on battlefield Magicant <3
All of those characters you mentioned are from pre-existing franchises.
There is no missing stages dude. Or at least none of which are confirmed to happen.
Damn your right I forgot bout Inkling and I didnt consider that every other char added so far already has stage representation...Though I should note that you missed Inkling, from the other new franchise, got a new stage as well.
I do to. It's the only way I see Isaac getting in. It's just with 103 being the likely end game for the base roster, it doesn't bode well for our Golden Boy. At least for the base roster.Damn your right I forgot bout Inkling and I didnt consider that every other char added so far already has stage representation...
Still, like I said I feel like Isaac being introduced along with a stage is what is most likely.
80-20 that they made an error in that issue. Of course there's no way to prove that but at the same time saying that they accidentally leaked 108 is reaching. If 103 is true and 108 was a mistake, I'll call it GG for base roster. I've never seen CoroCoro backpedal like this before, so I honestly don't know what to think.
Dormancy excludes popular characters all the time, it's the fact that only a few characters prove the exception which forms the basis of those claims. Sakurai himself has said something to the effect of characters with a future standing at greater odds of inclusion.A new game would help, I agree
Dormance hasnt excluded popular characters before, fact.
I dont think I understand this. How does pointing out included characters that were relatively in the same boat as Isaac (popular in-demand character, dormant series) show how unlikely it is...?
a new ip without a stage? don't see it happening.A mistake was made. But it's alright if it's 103 stages.
Still could mean Isaac is in.
I don't think we've had a new IP go stageless since ROB, and ROB is still considered really weird because of it. I don't want to be a pessimist but I wouldn't really expect any third party or new IPs if this is the case.A mistake was made. But it's alright if it's 103 stages.
Still could mean Isaac is in.
Do we have any examples of CoroCoro even doing anything like this, stating a number and then retconning it later on? I can't think of this ever happening, or CoroCoro ever being wrong for that matter.Frankly if the last claim of 108 had been a typo, you'd expect any reputable magazine to print a retraction in the newer issue.
If they don't do that here, it either means they're callous towards misinformation (which seems unlikely for a publisher of anything above tabloid nonsense), or the only mistake was sharing that number, not the number itself.

The only examples you've listed are those that eschew the normal inclusion process: third-parties and the retros. Isaac is neither of those (in Sakurai's mind, at least) and won't be granted such concessions, so equating them is fundamentally flawed. The closer examples would be K. Rool, and, if we get him, Geno - who hail from active series, but are both long-dormant characters included due to popularity. This is the path to the roster Isaac would take, one which wasn't really an option before Ultimate.
I've never read a CoroCoro so the person to ask about typos, corrections, and retractions would be PushDustIn .Do we have any examples of CoroCoro even doing anything like this, stating a number and then retconning it later on? I can't think of this ever happening, or CoroCoro ever being wrong for that matter.
