Well in any case, I'll be extremely happy if he's in and I'll take that L if he is, but the realist in me says he isn't.

Edit: I don't think this delusional assertion that he's in is healthy though when there isn't any evidence to suggest he's in other than "he's popular" (when you don't know the ballot results).

Standing on any extreme can be a detriment. Sure, assuming he's in as if it were something that's a given could come back to bite you hard when it turns out he isn't. On the other side, believing that he's just not getting in based of of "X" is unhealthy because you're 1) Refusing to even consider the possibility that you're wrong and 2) You can't even have fun in this whole process because you get in the way of yourself from making it happen.

What is healthy is realizing where you're currently standing on that spectrum. Are you so far to one side or the other that it's become either obsessive or to the point of scoffing at the idea? Neither is productive and both defeat the point on even contributing to threads like this because there's absolutely no room for compromise. I think in the 548 pages, we've had a little bit on both sides of that aisle and are slowly walking down the line to the end of this. You can believe he's absolutely in or absolutely not in, but it doesn't hurt to take in the perspective all the while.

I'm definitely taking in all the perspective! I was pretty solidly on the whole "Isaac is probably in" side for a while, but I figure with 2 months left and very few characters left to reveal that it's not likely.

I think he's 100% going to be DLC if not though.

I believe that Isaac is in this time, this is just too much...

First we have 3 characters in an arena, in GS, if you play against a friend, you can only use 3 characters instead of 4 since the GBA can't handle 8 adepts.

Second, why Link, Marth and Shulk in this order?
They are shown from oldest to newest, and we can replace them by your first 3 party members in Golden Sun.

Link = Isaac, both are silent protagonist.
Marth = Garet, Marth come from FIRE Emblem and Garet is a Mars adept, so he controls fire.

IMPORTANT: "???" is Marth's name, it is also how "Mars" is transliterated in Japanese.
In the fire Emblem OVA Marth name is Mars.

Shulk = Yvan, both have the ability to see into the FUTURE.

This angle is rarelly used in RPG, Camelot is one of the only studio using it.

Also, I believe that Rathalos may be a reference to the Fusion Dragon, the final boss in Golden Sun, why?

Both the Fusion Dragon and the Rathalos use fire attack and both can poison.

Beside the fusion dragon comes from the fusion of two Mars adepts (mars adepts controls fire like Garet)

And in Monster Hunter, the Rathalos drops can be use to make Fire Weapon, while the Rathian (the female) is use to make poison weapons.

So Rathalos is more link to fire then poison just like the Fusion Dragon.

Beside it's not the first time that Sakurai has use Twitter to tease a character, he did it whit Palutena, Shulk, Bayonneta, and Simon/King K Roll (red eyes)

He even put a freaking red and yellow barell during E3 were he was getting record to tease King K Roll early, so it would not be the first time.

Finally Golden Sun Dark Dawn page was update twice in the past weeks, it was the first time in years. (It may very well be nothing thought).

So yeah, Isaac is pretty much confirmed...



+ In one of is interview Sakurai stated that he is super carefull on twitter to not disapoint the fans.

If Isaac got in with a Felix echo then I would be rewatching the trailer to make sure I was not hallucinating. Post on Smash Boards to congratulate my fellow adepts. Then I would look at potential palette swaps of the characters. Lastly, moveset speculation and tier placement would be the next thing that would occupy my time.

I really do dislike it when people write off Isaac as "an anime swordsmen".

First of all, he's an adept/mage/whatever, which means he can use melee weapons, sure, but his strongpoint is his psynergy/magic.

Second of all, just because something is anime-esque doesn't mean you should automatically dislike it. There are plenty of characters overlooked/written off for exactly this reason and the "West" isn't the only target audience for Smash Bros.

Nintendo's a Japanese company.

Third of all, swordsmen aren't inherently bad. Sure, there may be a lot of swordsmen, but at this point, most, if not all of them (at least the veterans), are either seen as an integral part of the roster or simple enough to bring into future games. You wouldn't want to get rid of (normal) Link just because he's a swordsman, right? (at least, I hope not)

Besides, I, for one, like playing as Marth, Lucina, and Roy.

Fourth of all, Isaac isn't even a Fire Emblem character. This may be obvious, but there are a lot of people who don't seem to know this.

Fifth of all, Isaac's games are made by the same people as Waluigi, so if you wanted him in but not Isaac, well....

They even gave the Memories their own distinctive title... is this perhaps something they plan to formally introduce to other regions the next time we get Smash news (which we suspect is pretty soon), and they're rolling it out now to prep for that? Did a translator goof and translate something they weren't supposed to?

We'll have to see if the next fighter brings along another Flashback post.

I would say the Smash direct would happen in November. At best we will get a stand alone trailer this month.

Funny part is that he'd be what I would consider a very anime-lite kind of design. All of the Golden Sun designs have never exactly shot out to me screaming "I'm anime!". Like, sure, there are some super-distortions that are cartoonish with hair-color and style, but it's certainly not what you would say is in the same vein in designs that give you stuff like Naruto, One-Piece or Bleach.

Very contrary to what many people assume about Golden Sun, it's is a very Western-inspired story, design and art-style. This just colors most people that say anime-swordsman as not even trying to pull up a wiki page for half a second. It actually distinguishes itself very well in that mold. Basing it's lore and story on the old western philosophical ideals of matter and alchemy, and also basing it's clothing and character designs in tune with rustic adventurers with light, traveling armor/clothing with robes and a large amount of realism attached to them. It's actually quite detailed if you take a second to even look at Felix, for instance.

It's actually so dedicated to this, even all the way through Dark Dawn, that it really never caught fire in Japan as readily who typically opts for cute designs, sleek/cool designs and clownish designs. Basically extremes of any cardinal anime design direction.

I think that's the added allure you get with Golden Sun though. They didn't take an easy out with art-style or design or music but stuck with how to build a continuous and believable world that you can immerse yourself in. The furthest they ever go away from that is djinn and some summons/weapon releases that hearken back a little to some of the over-the-top RPG attacks you saw in some Final Fantasy games. Even then, they manage to rope it in enough to not break that immersion. In fact it does the opposite and awes you in how bad-ass it is.

I've consumed a fair share of anime in my time. Golden Sun is really stretching the definition of anime.
