Why? If we have enough by some point, we'll have enough to start ( obviously); therefore there is no reason to.
yea, well, anyways I`m going to drop out, cause of conflicting decisons, so I won`t do the tourney, hve someone else replace me plz

First off, this seems pretty ridiculously dead to me.
Second, way to completely contradict yourself, and start off saying that how tournament players do don't matter, when they are the most plausible standard, while afterwards saying that olimar isn't low because zap owned you with him, how does that make any sense?
If someone isn't doing well in tournaments, theres no way to better say that hes low tier, if fox never won any matches in melee, even with his shine being so ridiculous, do you still think he would ahve been top tier?

I would like to join but I have one question: why on earth is Ness on here? I agree with everyone else but Ness? Lucas maybe but definately not Ness. Oh and Sonic should be on this list as should Pokemon Trainer.

*reads through posts* It's pretty bad that the person who is supposed to be hosting this is almost never on... As I said, I'd like to join with Ness despite him not being low tier. (Hey, you listed him so I'll go with it.)

I think that for a tournament to be successful and run smoothly, the tournament organizer needs to show up, you know, often. Just a thought.

Where'd you go sudsy, we kinda need ya here.

Great.

Where do I say that? Or is this more made up bull crap just to have SOMETHING on me ( see old Friendly Neighborhood Tournament for more info)
while afterwards saying that olimar isn't low because zap owned you with him, how does that make any sense?
Because I realized how good Olimar is when the metagame has progressed as far as Zap's Olimar has. Simple. I don't care that he doesn't place well in tournaments--THAT DOESN'T MEAN JACK SQUAT. Characters are chosen for various reasons, often because they are simply liked characters. The fact that someone uses a particular character doesn't necessarily mean ANYTHING. The majority of Olimar's I have seen don't use Olimar to a higher level when compared to Zap. Blame the players not Olimar.

I'm sorry if I'm not illogical enough for you to understand.

If someone isn't doing well in tournaments, theres no way to better say that hes low tier,
Utter bullcrap. The standard for "tiers" is so inherently irrational, if you just think about it for three seconds ( or in your case an hour).
Why is it the standard, then? Because it's easier to make a decision if you include some sort of empirical data ( position in which characters rank and how frequently they place), REGARDLESS if it satisfies your needs. This is subjective matter; it is a logical principle that objective information is inherently unreliable.

if fox never won any matches in melee, even with his shine being so ridiculous, do you still think he would ahve been top tier?
I would have placed him high, knowing he's super fast and can tech with a tremendous amount of power.

(Why can't i get criticism from remotely sharp people?)

Allright, guys--I need a general time period ( including date, of course) which works for the majority of you all.

I'm thinking of a tournament which runs any night needed 9 PM eastern to two AM eastern the next mornings until we've finished.

All should go over the rules one more time.

The tourney date won't be set until I get more than a handful of people telling me the earliest time ( after today) that works for them.

However, Monday at 8:30 PM eastern or so might be my resort if I don't get enough.

Is the whole tournament in that time or just the first round ?

Btw, if i lose do i need to pick a counterpick stage or can i choose FD again ?

I guess monday 8:30 pm eastern is alright with me. Shouldn't have any problems with that, but you never know.

9:30 EST Monday is good for me, but I can more than likely change plans if need be.

Sure I can wait till the 17th. We've been waiting for a while now so I think a few more days won't make much of a difference.

Unfortunately, I'll be out of town on the 17th. But I'll happily drop out if someone wants to take my place.

Assuming the 17th becomes the set date.

so the whole tournament (1st round) takes place at once, 17th is not a play by date, correct?
