Hey so I saw lots of people posting pics of new character models (not just skins!) into melee..... Is this real???

Is there actually a way to import whole new character models into melee?

Yes, and no. From my understanding (which may be wrong, but is likely correct), the new models are done by vertex hacking a few vertices on different skins. If that's what you mean, then yes, but if you mean importing new models along with new bone animations, hurtboxes, et cetera, or even just vertex hacking wildly unique models in, I don't believe anyone has done that for melee yet.

I always thought this model was amazing but that itd be wasted on roy. So then I thought, why not just make it over marth.

No idea what going on with the face texture. Im working on it.
Easier to fix than I expected.
This is one of the posts. Is this a model he imported into melee?

"If you want to to access modified target stages through the Stage Select Screen get the index of the stage and replace the the last byte (DD) in the corresponding dol offset."

How do you do this? Is there a tutorial?

NOTE: As of now, all of these imported stage files are larger than the original files they overwrite. In order to install them, you will need to rebuild the ISO.
1) Open your ISO with GCR
2) Right click on "root" in the file tree on the right and click "Export". Select a location to export the entire filesystem.
3) Close GCR.
4) Go to the exported Root folder and overwrite an original file with one from this page.
5) Open GCR.
6) Click "Options" in the top and then click "Do not use game.toc".
7) Select "Root" at the top and select "Open..." and navigate to the root you just exported and modified.
8) Click "Root" again in the top left and click "Save...". Choose a name and location for the new ISO.
9) Click "Root" again and select "Rebuild".
Alternatively DTW can rebuild your iso without the need to export your iso. However as of now it can only do so one file at a time.

If you want to to access modified target stages through the Stage Select Screen get the index of the stage and replace the the last byte (DD) in the corresponding dol offset.

To change the song that plays for a given stage read this

If you wish to request an import. Head over to brawl vault and post the link to that stage in here along with an image/video. As well as tag me. My import process is doing whatever I want whenever I feel like so don't expect an immediate import. Ill take it into consideration though. These things take a long time to do .

If you wish to help in some way theres plenty to do with task as simple as entering numbers in DTW, loading the game and looking for changes. Just PM me or tag me to let me know.

Thanks!

Made a Stage Pack of most of the imports into the "Hacked Stages" select screen for 20XX. Comes with stage icons.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/atl6los7wa8zx15/Stage_Pack.zip

Added:

-Silph Co
-Metal Cavern
-Miiverse
-75m
-Metroid Lab
-Kalos w/ background
-Suzuka Castle

How-To

-Place all the files in the .zip into your 20XX root folder. Open GCR > Options > Check Do not use 'game.toc'.
-Rebuild.

hahaha that font oh my god. i laughed so hard thank you. 10/10/
Thanks, yea the font was a joke. Can't wait to see what else zankyou makes. Next I might make ryu a character. I could make him skins and I have a base CSP. I could change his animations to give him a custom moveset, would take some time, but possible. Anyway Zankyou is a god with models and I hope for meleebox to become a tool.

I have no coding experience, how do I do this?

That would be awesome if you could get the script working for already created stages. I am about finished on a Python script that will completely remove a section of the DAT file and adjust all the pointers in the file appropriately. You simply designate a file offset and a length to remove, so it is not as robust as what it sounds like you have. All I've done is modify @DRGN's code that increases the file size.
The lag thing is interesting. I think I'm going to start messing around with Brawlbox some more.

Couple more things to discuss:

Let's go back to the Hyrule 64 import for a sec.
I finally reread Brandondorf's out-of-nowhere post about blending modes. I had a feeling this might have been the cause for the castle windows looking weird, and I found success. Changed the blending mode word at offset 0x8f134 from 01040105 to 01040505.

Cool! I also rotated the top stone texture into correct place using the same method as I posted about for Yoshi's Fortune.
Now, if you watch Edwguard's video of the brawl import, you'll notice there are shadows underneath the platforms.

So I went into Brawlbox and found the platform objects.

That "model19" texture is a 32x32 white texture that is used for those shadows. It also has a blend structure.

That 32x32 white texture is included in the DAT import of yours. I figured fixing the shadow would be just changing the blending mode flags for that texture, identical to what I did for the castle windows. But after changing the blend mode flags, no shadow appeared. I tried messing with some of the material flags in combination with new blend mode flags and still couldn't get it to appear. What are your thoughts on this? Some other random flags (texture struct flags maybe?) that need to be set, or do you think/remember ignoring the placement of that object in your import or something?

Also, more textures appear in Brawlbox, than when I open up your import in DTW. Is there a reason you didn't import them?

Yes, I'd love to. Ideally some new ones and some of the old ones touched up.

I'm looking for the most up to date and best version of this stage (Hyrule Castle). I currently have it over Peach.btt and the shadows are a bit funky.

Also, how do I add in Frozen PS in addition to normal PS, but that being the only duplicate stage change?

All of them
character models tend to cause lag if you were talking about them.

Sounds good, because i tried the smash 4 fd and it froze the game after 5 seconds of playing on it and i wasn't sure if that's because it doesn't work on wii. If there's another version of it that works, i haven't been made aware of it

It works on the wii, I remember that happening to me though but I don't remember why. Maybe it is an old version of the import you are using or maybe it doesn't work on Nintendont, I don't remember.

I believe the issue with FD crashing is because it is not compatible with 20XX. Or the rainbow fd code at least.

I might not be able to try it until later, but just turning off rainbow fd should fix it then, right?

I can confirm that turning off the rainbow code fixes it
