well we did singles and doubles at the fest 2 weeks ago and i don't think those ended until about 5 ish... given we did start maybe 2 hours after the fest started. but we also only had like 10 people there.

when did the fest actually start, and how many setups were there? yeah 10 person tournies should run quite fast though

I want the teams bracket to start at about 1:00 tomorrow, so it would be great if everyone would arrive at or before 12:30, especially if you're bringing setups. I'll be setting up everything around noon, so between 12 and 12:30 is the prime time to show up.

about this, usually in tournies, IF there are systems not being used for tournament matches, they are open for friendlies... the problem is, usually all setups go to tournament use during a tourney... it makes sense too... I don't know how many they are normally having at these as I havent made it to one yet, but if there are enough maybe they could designate 1 or 2 setups solely for friendlies/money matches outside of tournament play...

but yeah, if you show up to late for the tournament, you should be able to get a few friendlies in I'm sure

we would need more setups and more room if that would be possible. alternatively we'd need less people. and i don't like the second option.

Oct. 21st I have a higher chance of making it too, I'm requesting for that off, I can't get the 7th off, because my team leader just made the schedule and she was kinda scary today as well.

Edit - Well seeing as it is, the smashfest is basically for friendlies while the tourney you probably wont be able to get a lot in. But yes bringing in more setups could solve that problem very easily, but if the place is too small you are quite limited on how many setups you can put up and room as well. So the best bet would wait for a t.v to get open, like once you get into semi-finals I guess and probably play a little more after the tourney has ended.

yeah, everyone except like 4 people left right after the tourney... so they all missed out on the infinite double jump friendlies and everything.

October 7th COK2 who's down for it?

I will hopefully be accquiring a new car before October 7th, but if I don't I'm seeing if anyone in MN was interested in going to this one. If I get my car I'll definitly be driving it to ohio, but if I don't hopefully someone here has some transportation :3

Crashman is also interested in this tourney, and it's Dope's last tourney!!!!! I kinda wanted to go just to bid Dope the motha fuggin falco who started me smoking farewell lol.

Superdoodleman? Aaron? Luke and Deepok I'll talk to you? Bluewolf?

Yes! We should definitely do a low tier tourney. Thay way my G&W has better chances. >_> I've also been working on my Pichu game...

btw, which tiers constitute a low tier tourney? It it just Bottom Tier? Or is it Low/Bottom?

I'm hoping it's just Bottom :chuckle:

The more the merrier. I am going to try to come visit from college on the weekend of the next tourney so I can get back in the action. I probably havent played for more than 6 hours in the past month (not counting the time at the tourney, but that time isn't really the best time to practice techincal stuff), so I was a bit rusty. Nonetheless I took 3rd in teams with SDM, so I hope to be back in a month with some REAL skill, not the fake skill that showed in singles :(

Anyways I found someone who plays smash down here at WSU so I can practice on a steady basis. Hooray!

Also, I am for a lower tier tourney, seeing as I have taken an interest in pikachu I'm trying to actually get good with him rather than just mediocre with a bunch of people.

If not many people are interested in low tiers we could always get 5 or 6 of us around one cube and just do a round robin for a couple of bucks to first... that would have to be at a fest though because theres pretty much no way we could do it during a tourney

All it takes is more setups. We only had 4 at this last tourney, and they were all being used for a majority of the time. Often there was downtime if you weren't playing a match, and not to mention once you get knocked out all you can do is watch until the tourney gets down to semis and finals. There were more people than setups/4, so even with everyone playing some could only watch.

Thats just an idea. More setups would distract people. Between matches for example people are tempted to play friendlies, like some did at the tourney, and it held it up. However, of course the MM must be battled out, and you just GOTTA play this dudes ganondorf, or whatever else comes up. Maybe a solution would be to dedicate a setup to specifically friendlies and the others for the tourney. This would ensure that everyone (even people like me that got eliminated ASAP) would have a place to play rather than sit around for the hour or more that I did, watching. As entertaining as that is, I wanted to play and experience more versus stuff. I probably shouldn't expect everyone to be able to play during the singles though, but wouldn' it be nice? :)

already suggested that a few posts back, and ideally it would be great, but an extra setup would (most likely) just be used to make the tourney go faster...

It's hard moving setups around. and if you bring a setup you could probably ask the tourney organizer really nicely if you can dedicate it to something you like.

Just make sure that if it's at bluewolf's spot you bring an extension cord, maybe two... that back part of the room was asking to get used :(...

nope, link is directly above luigi...

56k, no one ever said this was happening, dont get to excited yet... And as for who plays what... I know for sure a few people play game and watch, and theres a few ness players too.. truthfully I think you'd see less link/luigis than you'd think... BUT, a low tier tournament isnt happening as far as anyone knows yet...
