Some lametastic pokemon ideas...

Ice Cream!!

Vanilluxe will follow any nearby player and then stop to create a Blizzard from it's horn around itself. Anyone who gets caught in the Blizzard will take damage and temporarily freeze if they are at high % (kinda like Suicune in Melee). After the Blizzard is over, Vanilluxe will stay for a little longer, but will not attack. During that time, if any one jumps on it's head, they will start eating it until they jump off or the ice cream disappears.

Clefairy (not sure if this one could work...but oh well)

Clefairy is back! Clefairy will use the move Encore. Clefairy will start to clap it's hands, then a spotlight will go on it. It will exert a quick flash/wave. Then confetti will start to fall near it. Anyone caught in the flash can only use the last attack that was used (normal, special, smash attacks, etc), but can still control/jump/shield. For example, if your last attack is a Dtilt, only that attack (including Dair) will execute, no matter what attack buttons you press, same thing if your last attack is a B>. If a taunt is used before getting affected by Encore, but the player did not attack after taunting, the player will keep on taunting until Encore ends.

What happends if you haven't used any attack (referring to Cleafairy's encore)?

^ Like no attack at all before? Maybe the Encore fails if that happens or intsead of getting hit by a wave, the Encore will affect all opponents. During that time, if you attack, I guess that will be considered the last attack, and that will be the only attack you can use. The idea is a bit iffy, but I kinda like the idea of only using a certain move for a period of time.

Kinda similar, but I was also thinking that a pokemon (Psychic or Ghost would be cool) could use the move Disable. Basically all the opponents can't use a certain button (I think that's more punishable than just an attack) for some time. The button (it will show which one on screen) could be any one (but not control): special attack, jump, shield (lol no dodging), etc. This could be a problem for smash attacks, so I guess if the control stick for smash attacks is disabled, you also cannot preform smash attacks with the A button. But if the A button gets disabled, you can still preform smash attacks with it, for example. I kinda got inspiration from Bowyer's arrow attack that disables buttons from Super Mario RPG.

[collapse=Bowyer]

Nya! NYA! Angry I am!~

Although, I wound't mind seeing Bowyer as an AT, taking up the "disabling buttons" role. ;P[/collapse]

Clever, I was thinking about the ghosts from Luigi's Mansion, when the assist trophy is activated three ghosts pop out (blue orange and pink) and scare the opposing characters making them trip randomly for a while.

much like Poké Balls have those insanely powerful Legendary Pokémon, the Assist Trophies could have this... thing:

The Orne. Anyone who's played Kid Icarus: Uprising will recognize this guy. In the original games, Ornes are enemies capable of one hit kills and in Smash Bros., it would be no different.

Upon summoned the Orne wanders around the stage, aimlessly, but anyone who touches it recieves insane knockback (think of Marth's Final Smash, but more powerful). Like in Uprising, its signature theme would play as long as it was present.

You can here the theme here. It is an ominous 8-bit tune which is extremely fitting for this powerful foe.

being so powerful, it would be rare to appear as well.

Co***rigus
[collapse=Image]
[/collapse]

When summoned from a Poke Ball, Co***rigus will basically stand still, waiting for any opponent to come near it. Once it has spotted its target, Co***rigus will grab that player, and drag him/her into its body.

Players who are trapped inside Co***rigus will take damage for every half second they're in there, but they can break free if their current damage is quite low.

If any players stay inside Co***rigus for too long, it'll release them, but in a mummified state. While mummified, players are completely helpless, but they can't flinch from any attacks (quite identical to the Yoshi eggs). After about 5-10 seconds, the players will revert back to normal.

Note: Sorry if parts of the name are censored. Apparently, Co***rigus's name has a very bad reputation for using a word that's considered vulgar to the English language.

They really should have localized that name as Cophagrigus.

Cophagrigus = 11 characters
the games have a 10 character limit, so, since an 'f' is phonetically equal to an 'ph', they just switched the letters. unfortunately, the censors detect the word 'f a g' regardless of context or whatever letters before or after. even the games themselves don't allow trading of Cof agrigus unless they have a nickname (which also happens with Froslass and Probopass).

this same 10 character limit is the reason why Feraligatr and Victreebel have the name spelt the way they are. could've been Feralligator and Victreebell if it wasn't for the 10 character limit.

back on topic, here we have a known enemy from the Mario series: the Venus Fire Trap.

Upon summoning, a pipe rises from the place where the Assist Trophy was used, akin to Mario and Luigi on-screen appearences. this pipe is impassable, so it serves as a temporary obstacle.

then, the Piranha Plant rises from it and begins shooting fireballs at the nearest foe. these fireballs pass through walls and fly on set direction (meaning, no homing). they also pass through foes, meaning they can hit multiple players on its way. the Venus Fire Trap would enter inside the pipe and return for every two fireballs shot, much like the original games.

there's one drawback, however: if one player stands besides the pipe (or above), the Piranha wouldn't rise and would render the Assist Trophy useless. this, too, is a recreation from the original games.

the Assist Trophy would last around 15-20 seconds, including time where the plant is inside the pipe.

Jynx! (wth this is kinda weird)

Jynx will walk around similar to Muchlax (and stay around the same time), wiggling her hips as well. If any opponents gets close, she will hug the player, which does no damage but it is impossible to escape. Jynx's lips will then glow and she will kiss the player on the face. She will then let go and the player will be in a confused state. The effects are similar to that of the Negative Zone; the player will start to trip more often, get dizzy, sleep randomly, and reverse movement. The dizziness is different than the shield break, however. Basically, the player will slowly stagger when moving (walking, running, etc.). Kinda like how the player looks/moves in the Mario Party 6 mini game Dizzy Rotisserie lol. The kiss effect lasts longer if the player has higher damage, so different effects could happen after each other or two could happen at the same time. So basically Jynx uses Lovely and Sweet Kiss all in one... |:B

Alternately, Smoochum could appear instead and will have the same attack. However, instead of hugging, she will jump on the opponent's face if they are close enough, and then start smoochin'. (^3^) ~ ♥

I made this as a joke elsewhere, but they should have Dialga as a Pokeball pokemon. It would be incredibly rare, but when it uses Roar of Time, all of the graphics are degraded to a N64 level and the players are unable to use side specials. It'd just be such a nice meta joke.

Also, I want to see Diglett and Dugtrio as a pokeball pokemon, simply so that we can hear their cries: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCsayJJg4iQ

I'm not sure if this has been suggested yet, but I'd say Magikarp should be a Pokeball character. He gets released and splashes around. Unlike Goldeen, he can be attacked and hit around. However, once he takes a certain amount of damage or has been hit a certain amount of times, he evloves into Gyrados!! Gyrados then begins using Rampage and attacking everyone, including the person who used the Pokeball, that's within the vicinity.

Smeargle
[collapse=Image]
[/collapse]

When released from a Poke Ball, Smeargle will use Sketch to copy one of the special moves from the player who released it; Ex.: Mario's Fireball. Afterwards, it'll use that copied move to attack, if it's able to. Smeargle's threat level to opponents can vary, depending on which special move it Sketched.

Dwebble

Dwebble appears from a Poke Ball ready to fight. Well, not exactly. This Dwebble is really just trying to keep his home intact. He'll just scuttle about the battlefield looking cute and all, while swiping at those who get too close with X-Scissor. The claws, when lit up by X-Scissor, will swipe at a range of about a Bowser-length in front of Dwebble. This does about 18% damage with little knockback. However, Dwebble is loyal to the fighter who sent it out.

On rare occasions, or if the opponent connects a strong attack to Dwebble's shell, Dwebble will be put into a state similar to Shell Smash. Dwebble glows a reddish color and goes berserk. His speed and attack increase, naturally, spelling bad things for the fighter who broke its shell (in the rare case that it spawns shell-less, it targets anyone other than the summoner at random). X-Scissor now does about 30% per hit while Dwebble scuttles after foes at about Fox's dash speed.

In other words, don't make Dwebble sad. It will only end badly. Very badly.

Lol, thanks for the forewarning. Gotta make sure I don't attack dem Dwebblez!

Cataquack (first appeared in Super Mario Sunshine)

When a Cataquack is released from an AT, it will simply walk around. If anyone goes near the Cataquack (including the summoner), it will run after the player, and fling them very high up (just enough so that the player is in the magnifying glass, but not enough to equal death). It will also fling the player if they touch/jump on it. During the straight up flight, the player cannot move or attack. Falling down, however, is just normal, so the player can move freely and attack. No damage is taken though.

Regarding the Cataquack, what if there were two color variations. The blue one would not deal any damage, but the red one will damage anyone that it flings.

Yeah, having the red one come out and deal damage would be cool. Maybe there could be a 50/50 chance of the red one, since they become more common than the blue ones in the higher episodes of Gelato Beach iirc. I always thought it was funny to see green and purple ones in Mario Kart Double Dash. New variations have arrived to the beach!

My idea for pokeball pokemon is
Keldeo which will use secret sword and knock opponents away in 1 hit
Virzion will use magical leaf which would chase your opponets until hit or time runs out
Kyreum will ise glacite which will freeze everyone near by kinda like articuno's move except they will stay on the ground
Munna will use hypnosis and put everyone to sleep
Hitmochan which will use either Ice Punch, Fire Punch, Thunder Punch, or Mega Punch and it'll have a very rare chance using focus punch which is a 1 hit KO
Emboar will use Bulldoze which will bury you in the ground like Donkey Kong's head smash and then use Heat crash to do massive damgae depending on weight of character (for example it'll do a lot of damage on Olimar while it'll do less on Bowser)
and many more

How about Shedninja? loool once released out the ball he hovers around your character. For 30 Seconds in that time Everyone else can only hit you with one move chosen at random out of there wholllee moveset because of Shedninja's ''Wonder Guard'' Ability. Once they find the move and hit you Shedninja dies 1HP lol.

After 30 Seconds he disseapears. lool talk about super uber troll.

Whittle

Because why not.

Anyway, Whittle appears from the Assist Trophy and calls for more of his friends, each varying in shape (like in Galaxy 2). A little speech bubble appears above them, and they yell, "Big Tree! Fall!" After this, a large tree trunk appears in the background and falls toward the stage. If the combatants don't get out of the way in time, the large tree will crush them for an instant crush K.O.

The catch, however, is that the summoner is not immune from the crushing, so it can work against them and not be too overpowered.

I know this is unlikely, but I'd prefer Diddy Kong to cut to be make room for Bowser Jr. and / or King K. Rool.
How....how DARE you! Why would you EVER cut original characters? And Diddy of all of them. Sigh.

Anyway! I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but I think E. Gadd would be a boss AT. He could move around pulling players toward him with the Poltergust.

If they really WANT to get specific with it, they could occasionally have him add fire or ice or water to the blasts, doing damage in addition to the pull.

Frey (Zangeki no Reginleiv)

When summoned from the assist trophy, he swings his sword while slash marks appear in different locations to cut the opponents.
I like that, would be cool

Edit: The game may not get a character but it important enough to at least earn an AT.

There are quite a lot of good choices in this thread, such as Glass Joe.

Assist Trophy: Captain Linebeck
Game: Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass

When the AT pops open and releases Linebeck, he sails around the stage on his boat and helps pick up items. Could be normal items like the hammer or shell or possibly a sticker, trophy, or CD that might pop up as well. Once he does, he brings them to you for you to use them. Occasionally he might betray you and give it to one of the other player/s. If there are no items on the stages at the time he is released, Linebeck just does nothing (so he would kind of be a new Magikarp in this regard).

Assist Trophy: The Elite Beat Agents
Game: Elite Beat Agents

When the Elite Beat Agents pop up on the screen, they will start dancing wherever the trophy is opened up at. Whenever a player walks near them, they lose control of their character as they start dancing with the Agents. It works kind of like Jigglypuff's sleep attack.

If a player has a low percentage of damage, they have the ability to fight out of it. The higher the percentage, the harder it is to get out, sometimes even impossible. This gives you the ability to run up to them and beat them up. Possibly even knock them off the stage.

To add some variety to it, and not make it easy for players to just stay away (which would make them useless), the Elite Beat Agents teleport around the stage after being in that position for a few seconds.

Whenever they pop up, a random song plays on the level (from a selection of EBA type songs included in the game).

Assist Trophy: Toon Zelda (Spirit)
Game: Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks

When Toon Zelda (Spirit) is released from the trophy, she floats around the stage for a while. She then goes for whoever the closest opposing player is and “takes them over”. When the player is under her control, they won’t be able to control themselves, but they would be able to “mash buttons” to try and fight out. Just like the Elite Beat Agents, the higher hit percentage you have, the harder it is.

While under Zelda’s control, she could do numerous things. Attack other players, use items on “herself” {the character} such as picking up a bomb and it letting it blow up on the person she is controlling or diving off the stage and killing the character.

Toon Zelda will be on the stage for a while when she is released, if a player is defeated quick enough, she will move onto someone else. If a player can fight out of her control, she goes for another player. And even sometimes, she might just drop out of a player and decide to go for someone else.

Eggplant Wizard and Centurion from Kid Icarus series should be Assist Trophies. Eggplant Wizard would throw eggplants that turn characters into eggplants with legs. Centurion would fly behind your character and shoot arrows like in Uprising.

Pawniard

When released from a Poke Ball, Pawniard will start to chase down a random opponent, and then deliver a series of Fury Cutter attacks. The attack will gradually increase in power, which could potentially result in KOing whoever Pawniard is attacking.

Bisharp

When released from a Poke Ball, Bisharp will call forth three Pawniard to chase after the opposing players. It'll then pursue the opponent who has the most damage and finish him/her off with Guillotine. Evading Bisharp and the Pawniard at the same time can be tricky, but it should be noted that Bisharp appears less frequently than Pawniard.

The ship of Galaga:

Once released it positiones itself on the bottom of the screen and scrolls left and right, shooting at opponents through the platforms.
Note: it appears only on stages with a space on the bottom.
While it can't be destroyed, if it's somehow hitten by an opponent, it changes color (from white to red and viceversa) and become his/her ally.

Regigigas

Regigigas is a very unique Poke Ball Pokemon. However, like all other legendaries, it's very rare to get from a Poke Ball, but it's more likely to be released from a Master Ball.

Upon being released, Regigigas's Slow Start ability will activate, making it very weak in power. However, its strength gradually grows with every 10 seconds that pass, and it reaches full power after a full minute has passed. When another 30 seconds pass, Regigigas will disappear.

Regigigas will move around at a sluggish pace, and it doesn't jump, so it's possible to completely avoid Regigigas while it's on the battlefield. However, if any players are too close to Regigigas, it'll use Crush Grip to damage them. The strength of Crush Grip is hindered by Slow Start, but when Regigigas is at full power, Crush Grip is very likely to score instant KOs.

Players are warned when Slow Start has expired, when Regigigas begins to emit an aura around its body.

First off, the memorable Skull Kid.

What does Skull Kid do? Easy.
Just like in Majora's Mask, Skull Kid will rattle his head, letting out a scream. Within seconds, the Moon begins to fall.

This moon is smaller, but still deadly. Anyone on stage takes massive damage (About 100% or more) with minimal knockback. On stages like Temple, the Moon's size is amplified, so that escaping is harder. And of course, the moon will hurt even the summoner.

Next, the majestic Crimson Loftwing

The Loftwing, unlike Skull Kid, is not out to kill you. In fact, the Loftwing will save you whenever you fall into a helpless state in midair. Once the Loftwing picks you up, it guides you back to the center of the stage and flies away. It lasts for twenty seconds, then leaves.

Back to villains, Zant, from Twilight Princess.

Similar to Little Mac and Saki from Brawl, Zant goes on his own to attack. After a short period of time, Zant will fire a homing energy ball to the player with the most health, not counting the summoner.

Finally, the lovable Goron.

The Goron will appear, loyal to his summoner. Goron will then begin to roll into a ball and roll forward, very similar to Yoshi's Egg Roll. Then, Goron will turn back to where it came, pop out of it's ball form, scratch it's head, and vanish. The roll hit does about 20% with good knock back.

I love the idea of replacing Goldeen with Magikarp. He is an iconic useless, floppy Pokemon so it makes sense.

I think Magikarp should be able to be knocked around but not turn into Gyarados unless he is knocked into water. Magikarp needs more of a chance to be useless than actually useful. But say on the Pirate Ship course you hit Magikarp off the ship into the water, it will either swim away or turn into a Gyarados and release a powerful hyper beam or dragon rage.

There should be some water based Pokemon/AT that can only be summoned on water courses. They would jump into the water and use surf or other water based attacks, or just swim around and drown any fighters that go into the water.

Poke-Ball Idea: Meloetta

Singing a brief Relic Song, Meloetta preforms an attack similar to Peach's F.S.. All enemies fall into a deep sleep, but take Lip's Stick damage. This lasts as long as Peach's F.S., in similarities. Though she changes form, she teleports away... Well, 75% of the time, anyway. She might, however, do something else.

It'd be rare, but Meloetta will then target a random sleeping opponent, and do a back-flip kick, instantly skyrocketing the opponent upwards. It will likely be a OHKO.

Ghirahim

[/collapse]

When summoned from an Assist Trophy, Ghirahim will take out his rapier-like sword, and start pursuing random opponents by teleporting himself. He can also summon red diamond-like blades to attack from a distance whenever his adversary is too far to attack directly.

The attacks that Ghirahim uses focus a lot more on damage racking than to quickly KO things, but the damage that he deals can potentially lead to KOs.

Boy has this thread seen better days...

Anyway...

Magikarp

Infamous for its dead weight, Magikarp is a fairly common Pokemon to release from a Poke Ball. Because of its habit of splashing around, Magikarp is completely harmless to all fighters. In fact, players can actually pummel Magikarp at any time, unlike with Goldeen. Of course, this only applies to the opposing players, as the player who released Magikarp can't damage it.

If Magikarp sustains too much damage, however, it'll evolve into Gyarados.

Gyarados

When Magikarp evolves into Gyarados, it'll attack all the opposing players with a powerful Twister, dealing multi-hit damage during the process. The final hit delivers the most knockback, often sending foes flying very far, if not a KO.

Tiki! She's definitely my choice for a FE Assist Trophy, that's for sure. Unique and recurring, and a bit of a badass, despite generally having a calm and collected demeanor. And the dragon form would work well in Smash, I feel.

Let's see...seeing as he's not exactly likely to be playable, Tempo from HarmoKnight could be a cool Assist Trophy.

When he appears, a small segment of this song starts to play, causing Tempo to run around and hit opponents with his Staff to the rhythm of the song. It lasts roughly ten seconds, with each hit getting stronger in succession. The initial hit does 5%, but when it grows with each hit, it caps at about 20% per hit.

Essentially, avoid Tempo, and you're in good shape.
