Kamek has been in every Yoshi's Island, AND a similar magikoopa was recurring in Galaxy 2 in which Yoshi was introduced

Japan doesn't celebrate April Fools. People who do know about it are those who either study English or have been to America or abroad. However, it's more of an American custom. That's not to say that there won't be an April Fools related pic. It's just unlikely given that the humor of it would be lost on Japanese fans.

The internet seems to suggest otherwise - it seems to suggest April Fools Day has been growing in popularity in Japan over the past several years, especially in regards to jokes across digital media, contrary to the typically humourless depiction of the Japanese. Is this not a true reflection of what happens in Japan?

I'm pretty sure I read an interview with Sakurai (I've read many, please excuse me for often starting posts with this phrase) where he said that he himself is a prankster, and that this was part of the reason tripping was in Brawl.

Even if I'm imagining it, we all know he has the spirit of a prankster/troll. Dat Rosalina reveal.

So yeah, we COULD get something silly or some kind of prank tomorrow.

So I had a dream last night that Nintendo gave out Smash info to a select group of people, and I was one of them. They revealed four new characters: Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, Stanley the Bugman, and a Mage Mario (like Mario in Kamek's outfit). That counts as a legitimate leak, right?

I remember I was pretty ticked about the baby characters. Stanley was eh, and Mage Mario was wtf.

It is gaining popularity but, by large, it remains relatively unknown or "that American custom". Halloween, Christmas, and Valentines Day are the big three with Easter slowly catching up. According to my wife, it's more popular among the younger generation but still hasn't caught on. I say in the next few years, it'll become big here. Hell, when I first came here 4 years ago, Halloween had hardly any visual representation. Now there are decorations everywhere.

You can't blame him for not imagining that a game involving Mario beating up Pikachu would be taken super seriously by some.

I wouldn't rule out an April Fools related update. There's always the chance there could be. However, I would say its pretty low - considering he didn't even mention Halloween. He did mention Christmas and Valentines Day though. Those 3 are heavily commercialized here in Japan. Everyone knows or at least heard of them. April Fools is a lot smaller and more unknown - especially among the older demographic.

We will know for certain since today is the 1st. I have some pranks for my co-workers.

But yeah, I dunno. I feel like Sakurai might address not getting a character in March by giving us a character early in April. And there's likely a big Direct this month, so newcomer hopefully. Maybe we'll even get a better release date window this time? I feel like April is going to be a good month to junk a lot of leaks.

Going by how Sakurai has started doing more multi-part pics of the day I think it'd be great if say Ganondorf was revealed at the bottom of a series of pics showing other one-off Zelda characters (that turned out to be ATs or just plain old trophies) or something along similar lines for Falco, Lucas or Mewtwo
Mewtwo could make the most sense with a bunch of Pokeballs revealed as fighters like Marowak, Woboffet and Hawlucha before Mewtwo or Jiggs knocks them away in the final pic on the post

Hello. My dad works for Nintendo. Saying that has become so overdone that it's a cliche, and no one would use it in a fake. That's how you know this is real.

First, Palutena is in. Because she's leaked, duh.

Next, Pac Man and Mii are in, as seen in the other 100% legit leak

Next, Prince Sable is playable. You know this is true, because it's a weird choice and Sakurai likes weird choices.

Now, I've seen art of Rildey, and I don't know the context. Some may say this is me being deliberatly vague so 1/2 of the board won't call me a fake because he's "confirmed playable" or "confirmed stage hazard." But it's true.

I'm not even going to touch DK or Fire Emblem for the same reason. Because I don't know, I mean.

Oh, and Chibi Robo is an assist trophy. It's not a legit leak if you don't disappoint the fans of one character. And Chibi wasn't that likely to begin with anyway, which makes this all the more likely.

Oh, Snake is cut. I know, disappointing. But Kojima said he isn't in, which makes this all the more believable.
