The Boxing Ring had changes after Little Mac was revealed. Sakurai made it look like a generic stage until lil' Mac was confirmed. Point still stands.
Still hate the idea of Mii as a newcomer

In both Brawl and Sm4sh, a fire emblem stage was revealed before a fire emblem character.
There have also been assist trophies revealed before characters in their respective series' as well.

Mii and Pac Man even SEEM likely at this point, leak or no leak:

sakurai said there would be some form of

pilot wings/wii resort and find mii being shown to be part of the game already (similar to the boxing ring being shown before mac and mario galaxy before rosalina)

and of course we also have:

a leak that has guessed 4 out of 6 newcomers, one of them being the literally UNGUESSABLE Wii Fit Trainer.

look maybe he just assumed the characters he saw would be revealed at E3 but make no mistake someone saw official smash footage and made that leak of the characters that they saw.

maybe palutenas the next reveal or something but seriously brace for Mii and Pac-Man, you can say it isn't 100% cause it isn't but at this point their likelihood of appearing in this game is around 90% or so whether you like it or not.

That is the thing. A customizable moveset would kill it. I will accept Mii, but giving him a custom moveset will make online play way to unfair.

Geez, a whole year. That's a lot worse than the whole punch out ring now that you think about it. I could just imagine all the arguments for and against it being a Fire emblem stage and whether that entailed a newcomer or not.

That is the thing. A customizable moveset would kill it. I will accept Mii, but giving him a custom moveset will make online play way to unfair.

sakurai has said there will be some kind of customization. not me. sakurai. and customization without RUINING smash might mean picking FACES for Mii's. literally it is the best we can hope for if customization is in the game and we dont want moves of characters and stuff messed with.

so since sakurai has said yes this game will have customization then Mii's are actually a GOOD thing like them or not, if you dont want characters moves customizable that is.

the fact we know customization is in the game only makes Mii's more likely because they could have an unchangable move set, yet still be highly customizable (their faces).

If the leak turns out to be true, I'll just do what I always do: admit that I was wrong and call it a day.

Until then, I'm remaining skeptical, because it's more fun to present arguments against something than to just blindly follow it without 100% proof.

I hear what you are (and have been) trying to say... but at the end of the day, I am looking at what we have. In the most basic terms.

Back when this all started up, before we had any Smash news... a guy predicted 6 characters to be announced. As of this date, four of them have been confirmed true and none of them have been excluded. So that is a simple 4 out of a possible 6.

Now while those aren't the best odds of any situation... those are the best odds of any "information" we've gotten so far. It only takes one to be totally wrong to kill it. But we're sitting pretty at 4, that 66%. So if I had to guess (and that's all we can really do), I'd place my bet on that guy. But I wouldn't blame anyone for not doing so. I do feel confident in my choice. Here's to finding out who placed the best bet by the end of this year... if the game doesn't get delayed.

Oh and for the record, I hate the idea of Pac-Man or Mii. I would not put them in the game if I had a say. But here's hoping we get more then just those 6 and some more "traditional" or "regular" or "comfortable" newcomers.

watch dogs has a target preorder card for about 7 months now... I wouldn't count on these cards revealing a release season... Also too whoever said they were usually $5, I've only seen them for $1.

watch dogs was delayed though so that may be why they are out longer

Actually, I can see myself go-karting. Maybe not with Bowser, but thats not the point. What I don't see myself doing is running around with a blade, shooting out fire and nonsense. The only benefit of having a Mii, is so I could do things like playing as Reggie/Miyamoto/PaperMario/Batman/Penguin/Garfield. That would be fun.

I'm really hyped for Little Mac, but at the same time, I am dreading that the E3 leak is proving more and more accurate XD We've now gotten all of the characters I wanted out of that leak, Pac-Man and Mii can bugger off.

Actually, I don't really think Little Mac makes that leak any more or less likely, since he was one of the easier guesses, and I'd expected him to be in anyways. Now, if he had predicted Rosalina & Luma, I would probably have to concede that it's the real deal, but for now, I hold out hope that it was some combination of lucky guesses and only partially accurate information. Still, as much as I don't want the rest of this leak to be true, it's very hard to discount it.

Nah, we can toss him. If you look a few pages back he tries to deny the leaky E3 pack and says that Pac-Man was scrapped (after they went through the legal negotiations of adding him and building a moveset?). He slipped up and his leak can be executed, I guess his hate for Mii and Pac-Man consumed him and he couldn't maintain his "leak" any longer.

People keep saying this. How is it that his saying no one asked for her is the reason he added her? He never implies a causal relationship.

Sakurai (in developer direct) (translated/dubbed): "I get a lot of new character requests from all over the world and they're quite an array of Nintendo characters, but I can say pretty much no one imagined this character would join the battle."

It drives me crazy that people actually think Sakurai sat around and decided to add a character for the specific reason that no one thought of her. There's nothing in his statement that implies that. I know people like the Sakurai = troll meme, but it's one thing to joke, and actually claim something as fact.

Pac-Man is more relevant than the character in your avatar, if you ask me. He would be an interesting character to have in the series, even though I am not really a supporter of third party characters in Super Smash Bros. (but if we must have them, lets have some characters that make sense, at least... unlike Bayonetta or a Tales of character).

Okay okay okay okay no. Namco won't get special treatment, and we don't need more than 2 3rd Party characters. Pac Man is just there because he's iconic, but he's just not with a capable moveset.

I'm not that much against Pac Man in SSB4, but a 3/3 vet is MUCH more relevant.

How many of the leaks Little Mac 'killed' referred to a DK related reveal? because as the promo art on the smash site highlights, Mac's big link to Smash was his connection with fighting DK before, so it makes perfect sense in that regard to consider him revealed to tie in with a new Donkey Kong if you take that perspective... theoretically most possible leaks could have been jumping the gun on DK-related character to assume Diddy just

What's the problem with Miis? What if the Mii moveset was actually enjoyable? They've been part of Nintendo for 8 years now (2 when Brawl came out, holy ****). Olimar had existed for 7 when he debuted in Brawl. What if they included a means of further customizing your Mii beyond what was capable in Mii Maker? Think about streetpass items: Captain Falcon's helmet, Mario Bros. hats, Metroid hat, Link's hat, etc.? What if you could really dress your Mii up into a customish character? It'd be like a simpler Soul Calibur character creator, but with a selected Mii base instead of "naked generic human" that you could then dress up with various gear.

Anyways, getting off subject. To Mii or not to Mii?

I understand how they have the potential to be cool from what you've stated, and I agree with it, but the reality is, if you can customise them to look like that, it means people will also be able to customise Adolf Hitler, Osama bin Laden, Reggie, Barack Obama and all kinds of annoying **** to spam needless taunts online with. It got tiring enough seeing these people in Mario Kart Wii in my opinion.

I find it so hard to believe we would have this many characters without another Metroid, Donkey Kong, or Fire Emblem rep. I also think, Mii, Villager, and Monster Hunter are too many avatar type characters.... and Capcom getting two reps also seems weird.

I don't see why this leak would be disconfirmed because it was wrong, when the leaky 3 stays around despite it being wrong. I say this for practically every leak that's been disconfirmed. Y'all have a double standard for confirming and disconfirming leaks. The leaky 3 was wrong, yet it stays because it guessed Wii fit Trainer, and plans must have just changed, yet a leak that said Dedede would be revealed on the 10th and Diddy yesterday is disconfirmed because Little Mac was confirmed.

Either be consistent, and admit the leaky 3 was wrong, or stop disconfirming leaks because of one error. According to everyone who keeps talking about the leaky 3, plans can change at a moment's notice since that's what Nintendo would have to do to NOT reveal all six when they planned to. Some guy at Nintendo would have had to be browsing Neogaf and be like WAAAIT. They're on to us. And Nintendo would have had to be like "Oh. Well despite our sales being absolutely dismal, let's not get everyone hyped up by showing off cool characters." And I mean, there's precedent for that. Remember when Amazon leaked Cranky Kong, and Nintendo just cancelled their big reveal of him at the VGX?

Ugh, sorry to rant at y'all but it's just getting a bit annoying seeing the absolute disregard for consistency in this thread. It devalues it, which admittedly isn't saying all that much since most of these "leaks" are just some idiot troll, but still.

Oh and before someone pulls the usual "But 4 out of 6 characters have been right!!!" Big deal. His character choices were safe bets and obvious speculation, other than Wii Fit Trainer, and even that isn't all that far fetched. Who would have thought that a massively popular Wii game might get a rep in Smash?

About the neogaf e3 leak, I do not see where he said those would be revealed at e3. I believe he was stating his overall predictions for the game. "My unlikely predictions: Little Mac, Pac-Man, Animal Crossing Guy, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, Mii." Unless I am missing something.

Little Mac does not affect the leak.
He was likely before the leak, and he was likely after the leak.
He was a plausible character who deserved his spot. An obvious choice to most, even before the leak.
