We just ran through the numbers 3 different ways, and agreed on one thing: If it comes out in the year of '07, there WILL NOT be 50 characters. 40 by christmas is even pushing it.

And I didn't check the day, but the Lezpig Game Convention is sometime next week. That might be where the "Wednesday" comes from.

I believe it's the 24th, and, although there will be Wii stuff there, I doubt we'll get a new trailer. Maybe gameplay footage, but that's IT.

I suppose we have to wait..until Nintendo releases one of those press conferences at..some gaming expo. Since E3 is no longer here..booo. I think we have to expect Nintendo to release a new trailer before the Wii comes out, meaning new characters will be added at some point. Also means characters might be axed in the coming months.

Once Nintendo announced that they will not have a major presence at TGS, I knew any info about the Wii that is really, really important(say...release date, price, etc.) probably will be announced at GCDC(that's the Games Convention Developer Conference, in Leipzig, Germany). Nintendo has announced that their conference, entitled 'Wii Keep Our Promise', will be happening on August 23rd. They are expected to show off a few new titles, too. I don't expect to get a new Brawl trailer or anything, but seeing as though it's one the Wii's heaviest hitters, I wouldn't be surprised if we got some sort of info bite from Reggie & The Gang, if not a release date estimate.

I like the idea for Dedede! How come you kinda dis him in the begining then added him to your forty. I kinda think jus one link is fine, maybe fierce diety hes coo. I dont much care for diddy kong(just a stinky monkey like Ol donkey). Plus correct me if im wrong i thought they said 40-50 charecters(im not being cocky im seriously not sure). Others wise i think your list is pretty good.
I dont care for King Kool and whos captian syrup?

MachRider looks cool. Dont give me the old "what would his moves be response" look at Fox+CpFalcon

(am i the only one who will say they didnt know who all the charecters of melee were at first?) theirs still less popular people that can be used. Id never heard of pit b4 Brawl.

See now, I thought Nintendo said they usually don't make a big show at TGS, but they will this time. I'm probably mistaken since I don't keep up with TGS.

Anyway, that Conference next week.....probably being covered on IGN I suppose? Well, showing Brawl is either here, E3 07, or somewhere not as big. Apparently, the people who "run" E3, think it's getting too big, [reporters and journalists not having enough time to cover stories, because there are too many to cover], so they're shrinking it down. Nintendo will probably have to replace something for Brawl there, so there's a decent chance something will show up at this conference.

Nintendo does like keeping secrets, but they love torturing us more, kind of like the chinese water torture...a little at a time....enough to satisfy us for about....2 1/2 hours and then we're hungry again. Oh well, that's Nintendo.

BTW FOR THE LAST TIME: THIRTY-FIVE FOR A 2007 RELEASE DATE. DONE.

i think the reason why all of us are saying these early dates is because we want it to be that way. Cause when you think about it, this game is arguably the most anticipated game for the Wii.

And you know how quickly a drought can come in the Generation wars. In Australia our droughts come through once a year, and some go on for like 4 to 5 months. Ninty has fallen behind on GCN and GBA, but they've caught up with the DS, and if they want to keep us interested in the Wii, then they have got to keep us on our tippy toes, or else we could see a Dreamcast. Though looking at what i've heard they're making for Wii, and all the third party support, Ninty will be getting lots of help this time. They just got to keep them coming, don't let a down moment happen. And the moment we see Smash Bros. coming we could settle down a bit, I'm hoping it doesn't come too early, I still want a chance to play Red Steel, Sonic Wildfire, Zelda: TP, Metroid 3, Project Hammer, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Super Mario Glaxy and so forth, not to mention catch up on all those FE games if they let us. But they just got to keep it coming. And for a game like Smash Bros. and the hype around it, and when was the last Smash Bros. again?(I've lost so much track cause it's been so long.) they can't keep it too long.

It is one of the few new(well not new anymore) franchises, that has gone well on Ninty's behalf. It is one of the best mulitplayers since Goldeneye(in my view.) It's coming as early as they can get it.

My best bet, is June 07. Anything later and you're really pushing the popularity and hype. I guess you could say Mario Kart and F-zero GX had late entries, and we didn't lose the hype there, but I guess that because wek now they're always gonna make racinggames, and most time they don't need hype, and they have a reasonable audience. whereas Smash Bros. Brawl, you announced it two years ago, and it says on the box
"Nintendo's best Multiplayer", I'm also seeing Player's Choice at EB, and I heard it was the first GCN title to go platinum.

It's just everytime I see the trailer or read a few threads and what most people think, I get so excited I just want it to be released tomorrow, so I could play the **** game. But then I would need a Wii wouldn't I?

Ewww, Hero of the Winds? Nahh. I mean, yes, I could see him as a trophy, and I understand that he could be different, but I don't see Nintendo making him playable. They're going to be pushing the TP look as much as possible (with or without Phantom Hourglass approaching). And the fact that it's still basically YL with a different look and a few different moves doesn't really qualify him in my book.

where did you hear they were pushing the TP look as much as possible? I don't really care about hero of winds or Celda, its still Y link imo. But just because link is using his TP model doesn't mean their pushing it to the extreme.

How do you know they are pushing the TP Link? He will be featured yes, but as for them forsaking the rest of the series, that I seriously doubt.

Perhaps I should have spoken more clearly. ^_^;

I personally (so don't take my word as Reggie's, haha) don't see why Nintendo would include Link (and presumably Zelda and Ganondorf) in TP style, and then be like "hey Celda!" Judging by the astounding reaction that TP has garnered, it would behoove the big N for them to continue Zelda in that graphic vein. I'm not saying EFF WW, but at the same time, was YL really that necessary, cel-shaded or otherwise? I think not. (And it's not a big deal anyhow - no one said Celda's in yet).

I agree with Aeris, I don't think Celda is coming. I really think that Wolf Link (With Midna) would be a better Y Link replacement (It's a all around unique character and theres no one like him just to say a few things).

Cellda is more likely than Wolf Link, Cellda has been in a lot of games and is one of the two directions the zelda franchise is heading in, Cellda has a lot of clear moves as well. I'm not saying Midna w/ wolf link would be bad just unlikely.

Well I think that Wolf Link (With Midna) is more likely. And completely unique team-up character that doesn't work like IC and a completely unique Link character version as well. And you also have to look at Midna, she plays a great role in TP somehow and they have said that TP is the last Zedla game of it's kind so I think that at least one new TP character will get in so that points to her (With Wolf Link).

But hey, thats just what I think.

I think one TP character will get in as well but I think it will be the new main villain instead or another helper I don't think Midna is too likely I don't know why but I just don't think she'll be in because she's like the Navi of TP.

I do think that Cellda series will get a character too and what better way then the main character Young Link (cellda style)

Well we know Midna is evil AND a Link helper/ friend. There is also a chance that she could be the main villian of the game too (We don't know yet (~_~) ).

And if you think that Cellda series should get rep than Veeta (w/e his/ her name is) could be Cellda styled AND a villian.

veeta? Do you main Vaati because he would be OK but Y. Link would rep it better, Y. Link is the true link he was Young in the first LoZ.
I guess I meant Vaati (I don't even know anything about the Cellda games). And they want to make Link more mature/ older in the newer games (May be one way TP is the last of it's kind, teen Link maturing over time into a man) so the NEW true Link is the one their trying to focus on with Tp Link.

You don;t think what? You don't think that those very likely characters will make it, you don't think they would be good, You don't think they should wear pink what don't you think.

But that's not the true link it's new link, and Link would suck as a full adult he is either a child or a late teenager that's who he is.

TP link isnt even a "hero." Not a Hero of Time, not a Hero of Winds... By the time of Wind Waker everyone had forgotten the young, green-clad pesant boy who happend to be named for the Legend of the Hero of Time.

Celda is NOT the same as Young Link. YL would have moves based after OoT and MM, whereas Celda can get moveset from a multitude of games such as WW, 4 Swords, Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass (All having unique weapons and abilities). Now I'm not saying he would be COMPLETELY unique, but Lugified to a SERIOUS degree in the least.

Again, until we see the Gale Boomerang, "TP" is just a model update, nothing more.

Zelda and Ganondorf will be difficult. Even though Link has a specific game skin, he will probably still have the same moves because they are 'generally' universal to most games. But the new Zelda model is with a sword, and that's not even counting the fact that if she gets the update, she would need new B moves as well, since her moves are not universal to most Zelda games like Link's. Same for Ganondorf. If he's even IN TP.

There is a slimmer chance of there being a YL of any kind in Brawl because Zelda franchise will have 3 character representatives as is, while others only have 1 [DK, Yoshi, Falcon, Ness] and 2 [FE for now, Metroid, StarFox, Kirby].

Ganandorf IS IN FACT IN TP, it's in Nintendo Power vol 193. I have to find the quote, but it was something to the effect of (in relation to Ganon) that "we are preparing you for more than you could ever expect"

"No discussion of Twilight Princess' enemies can end without mentioning Ganon,..." "I know that everyone's wondering what's going on with Link's old nemesis. All I can say now is, we're preparing more than you could possibly ever, ever, expect."

I said it's the NEW true Link because they are trying to make him more mature in TP and he could very well keep coming back as a late teen/ young Adult and not as Young Link (child) in newer Wii games like TP.

And Kab, If they are remaking characters from the ground up (which they said they are doing) than theres most likely going to be TP connections to the Zelda characters attacks (Meaning that TP Link isn't just a skin).

And Ganondorf IS in TP, they said so.

can you be very careful on what you reaveal about TP, in future. I really don't want any spoilers.
I should probably avoid this thread at all costs, if it turns into a TP thread.
I wont say what i just read a few minutes ago, for the sake of spoiling it to others, but I hope there is more of a twist, and I can still enjoy it.

For TP, I don't want to see one picture of Gannondorf either until i get up to that spot. So try and keep your spoilers off, I know as a Zelda fan I should be reading up on it, and what progresses, but i've seen enough, and I just want to get playing and find the story out myself.

How can something new of something old be the true version of it and Nintendo will make Zelda games where link is a kid (Phantom Hourglass for one) and where he is a Late Teen and there will be at least one cellda game on the wii and many more on the DS it's the new handheld style so there is classic true link with a twist (cellda) and new kick arse link (TP) a bit of both is what I want to see they would both be so different all they would share is the name Link.

Black/Light, show me the Gale Boomerang.....that's all.......then you've got my vote.....but until that day, I shall oppose.

It's not that this thread is becoming a Link thread, just discussing the probability of a certain character based on the amount of character slots and time restraints placed upon the roster. The same will happen when we get to the furries....is there room for Wolf AND Krystal or just one? That is for another time, but on this same thread.

(The Krystal Stands Alone)

Wolf is still a terrible idea. He could work, sure, but we have Falco as a clone already (and a good, popular one at that), and Krystal is waaaay up there on Sakurai's list for the next Star Fox fighter. She's original, popular, and wouldn't wear down on the freshness of the game.

Wolf is just... a gray fox. I know, I know. He's not a fox, and he has an eye patch, and all your furry Star Fox fans are gonna come at my throat for talking down on him, but listen: he is pretty much not gonna be in Brawl. If they are limiting themselves somewhere between 35 and 40 characters, why would Star Fox get four of those slots? And if they go with less than four, why A.) ditch Falco, who is far more popular and already IN the series; and B.) overlook Krystal, who is tied for second most requested character on the polls AND likely the third or fourth in the world?

Wolf and Star Wolf and all the other characters in Star Fox are dandy, sure. But Wolf is just an evil Fox. That's boring. We need better ideas than THAT.

I think that Cellda will stay on the hand helds and TP style will be what we see on the new Wii Zelda games.

I said NEW true Link because he is going to be the first Link in the new direction they are trying to go with The LoZ series on home systems/ non-handhelds.

And Kabyk-Greenmyst, How can I show you a pic when the game isn't even done (SSBB)? In fact, I want you to show me something saying that vid=finnished game because from what we know Link could very well have a more TP style a fighting when their done.

If you need any Gale boomerang footage, this is pretty good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JQ6NEX9Apo

It basically seems like a tornado, so it could work like Samus' missiles, where you smash forward on the B button.

As for Wolf, they could add him and not make him a clone, but Krystal has a better chance at that. Chances are they will only add one more Starfox character (while making Falco more unique), so Krystal seems a better choice.

Finally someone agrees with my that Wolf should not be in Brawl. Krystal definately should be in with her staff, but if the team wants to add a real cool villain, Andross is patiently waiting.
