Well there are many variables involved. Like would more DLC be actually be a bad thing? And does giving it to someone else mean it's automatically going to suck? It's schrodinger's cat, you don't know what you'll get until you open the box.
And in all fairness, no one here really knows Sakurai. All we know about him is from the press. Just because the press makes it out like Smash is Sakurai's baby, it shouldn't make it real. He may care a lot about the game, but when he signed on to work for Nintendo, he knew that it's not a personal project, it's Nintendo's personal project, they just got Sakurai to be the boss of the business. And just like any business, as long as you have the right person, the business will continue. Case in point: Iwata wasn't always the president of Nintendo, same with Reggie.
