It just takes one down to see people around you trying to make you find the idea of supporting the franchises you like as something dumb.

Before entering this and the Erdrick threads, I just found it necessary to hide from others how much I wanted to see Dragon Quest content in Smash. I was worried about just getting either bashed for “supporting the composer” or reminded many times about how other Square franchises were “superior” and “more likely” than it.

Meeting people like Teeb147 , @liquidmetalslime , NomadLuminary or @Bolderousness literally changed the way I talked about Smash speculation in general and alongside the insiders supporting the idea of Erdrick getting in, I finally decided to open myself and show my love for the series at last.

Hopefully, Dragon Quest gets in Smash, and all these problems will finally be over for us.

It would be a very smart and pretty awesome idea if a character that represents Square and someone that represents Enix get in first. That way characters like Crono and Sora have more impact. After all, in Crono's case, Yuji Horii (DQ creator) and Hironobu Sakaguchi (FF creator) were the masterminds behind Chrono Trigger. Sora is just an example of the post-Square Enix merger. It's literally history in smash style if this theory actually becomes true.

I love how it's able to bring Erdrick's and DQ's supporters together. I also, however, hate the toxic environment wherein people like you are afraid to speak for what you support. Not saying that you are wrong for being afraid to speak up, just that it's sad that people have to fear showing their support to begin with. It's not right.

This post is what I love and hate about the Smash community all at once.

I love how it's able to bring Erdrick's and DQ's supporters together. I also, however, hate the toxic environment wherein people like you are afraid to speak for what you support. At least when we finally get Dragon Quest content in Smash, we will finally be able to enjoy it.
Hoping that Geno also gets a chance in any form doh.

I mostly feel like a second Fighter Pass is possible if the first one sells well enough.

If it happens, I am confident about characters like Banjo, Geno, Crash or Steve getting in being pretty likely.

There's some more DQ fans, just not as active lately. I didnt talk about DQ before this smash cycle because I thought it was a pipe dream and not a lot of people brought it up on smashboards. I'm glad Erdrick got 'leaked' because it brought more attention to the series, but it also triggered people who have a beef with seriess they're not familiar with. unfortunate, but at least it's not as bad as the hate around steve.

I dont like steve for a smash character but minecraft is big at this point. I still dont think he'll show up in smash, but it's cool for any one to support who they like really ;p

It's more that I didnt know how to deal with some of the frustrations around people thinking or talking in certain ways, but I could never debate much because of being sensitive to how people tend to get, in arguments.
After I got comfortable debating a bit more, I got my fill of it and realized I dont really like going at things like that, and the feelings have to do with insecurity and low self-worth, having trouble feeling good just because others can think differently or unreasonably. In the end it's better to be able to let things slide and just share stuff without needing others to think a certain way.

I dont mind debating, especially if it can help get some truth or sense out there, but how people feel matters to me too, so it's always a learning experience.

anyway I gotta go. And gonna see Shazam soon. So laterss, enjoy the rest of the day.

Thanks, I tried my best to have Erdrick not only represent Dragon Quest and it's classic style, but also what Dragon Quest and Enix meant to the industry. I just figured the Cloud respect was a good way of addressing all of Squares and Enix's history with one another. I had a fellow boarder here that mentioned using the menu as a way to control Erdricks specials and I loved it so much I wanted to put it into this moveset too.

One idea that I found from a moveset that I was initially gonna add to this as well was the use of party members. Whether it's his smash attacks or his specials. I decided not to do it since that would just complicate things.

Honestly I don't think it means much for Erdrick than it already did; it's no secret how Nintendo has had a close hand in the DQ series since the first game, even giving away free copies in Nintendo Power. They've published every game in the series released on their consoles in the West, but not always in Japan (the collectors edition of DQ11 included both the PS4 and 3DS versions).

If there is anything I could take that as meaning though, is the possibility of orchestral tracks instead of midi tracks. Not really likely but now it's not impossible either.
