Looks like I didn't miss much judging by the social thread's reaction. The only thing that might make me curious is FNaF, because I unironically like keeping up with Game Theory lore videos.

That being said, nothing there to make me repurchase a PS4.

Although, the direct reminded me that I really should get into the Mortal Kombat series. Always looked like stupid dumb fun, especially with Mortal Kombat 10's horror movie icons making it in.

They really copied the nintendo direct style. Shows nintendo's influence.

I dont like mortal kombat that much, but MK11 looks different and i defniitely want to try it and see how it'll be.

It's funny how it's a Nintendo direct, but it also makes it easy for me to watch... well less hard to watch because I ain't watching through all of that.

MK11 looks cool, but I'm really hoping they return to the massive cast of characters MK9 had. More bang for the buck while MK10 had cool new characters but not a lot of familiar iconic faces returning.

Wasn't much. One dungeon crawler with a multiplayer twist, another was a game that reminds me a bit of epic mickey kinda (can paint things in lots of places). Other than and MK it was VR. Might've missed one or two.

holy hell that was disappointing beyond belief, even the nindies direc was more fun and pleasing to watch… All of those trailers could've been just tweeted or something. Way to fail to please fans expectations after skipping both PSX last year and E3 this year, ugh. They better have something great for future state of plays. For now this is how i see it, lmao. Like the kid from Malcom in the Middle said: "I expected nothing and I was still disappointed."

For me either the leak is fake or it is real. There is no "Square-Enix was using Erdrick as Leak Bait" because, beyond Japan's DQ love, with Roto/Luminary now being constantly in the mouth of Japanese fans, there is also corporate politics, leak baiting DQ is slapping the Enix fans in the face in particular. I could see it maybe happening with Chrono, who I find an unlikely pick, Geno, who has his chances, but Sora would be risky and Sephirot (Or any FF character being hidden by a DQ bait) would be a massive faux pas to the point it wouldn't be possible for anyone to greenlit such actions.

That said, what do you people think about the 4chan post that got the release date of Super Mario Maker 2 right? The leak basically saying Direct at day 11 with no new character until E3, where we get two. Personally, I think it was just a coincidence, but I fear I am biased since it hits Erdrick's chances as I don't think they would reveal him is something as western focused as E3.

I’m going to convice my parents to pick both the PS4 and Switch ports od CTRNF now that I know PS4 gets exclusive stuff.

I don't think Erdrick would be leak-bait either, and if he somehow was, he'd be such a tasteless choice for it, considering Japan's love of DQ. I think that, if it's somehow wrong, the leak might be for a Mii costume for Erdrick as opposed to a playable character. (It would, too, explain the 'female and male alts' thing.) That's the only possible way I can see this being fake apart from misguided rumors that were never intended to be leak-baiting.

As for that SMM2 thing, it's probably just a coincidence. I wouldn't pay it much thought.

I personally don't think Nintendo is using leak-bait at all. I heavily doubt they would stoop to a point where they would actively feed false info to insiders. It would be an absolute waste of time for them and could cause all kinds of problems in the process. If the insiders get info wrong, it is more likely that they got bad info or got stuff mixed up. Again, Jason's post regarding Nintendo rumors and insider information applies to Smash speculation as well, regardless of whether the hit rate for Smash Bros. is higher than general Nintendo information or not.

Again, if an insider gets stuff wrong, it is most definitely not because Nintendo actively fed his/her sources false info.

Status update: State of Play was hella boring. Though Observation looks like a game I'd like, and I was honestly impressed with Blood & Truth - at least it looks like an attempt at a killer app for VR.

At this point I'm half convinced they silently canned the MediEvil remake. Either that or Sony just can't market an old-school, cartoony type game (can't blame them in the current market). Though they do seem to like shoving Concrete Genie in my face despite my lack of caring.

The leakbait was from Square-Enix themselves, if I remember right.

Nintendo from what I understand is willing to do leakbait too. Same with Namco-Bandai. I wouldn't put anything past 'em to catch leakers. The fact of the matter is, leaking is a pretty huge deal. It can potentially affect sales as is. Thus, they want to get people excited themselves or let the games sell with some information only findable in that game itself.

Sure, Metroid was probably intended to be shown at TGA, but it is not like Nintendo wanted to intentionally leakbait. They probably needed another option after MP4 wasn’t ready to show (they probably hadn’t deemed its development a total dumpster fire just yet).

It’s frankly ridiculous to call MP4 leakbait, IMO.
