Sonic people! I'm attending a fairly large Smash event in a couple of weeks and for Doubles I'm teaming up with a Sonic player. I'm a Shulk player and I'm trying to think of ways we could actually work together instead of just doing what we normally do which is just running around and trying not to hit each other. I've been looking into things Sonic can do to help Shulk's game - Sonic can take on the quick characters Shulk struggles with, Sonic fthrow->Shulk uair throwing people into Back Slash, and so on. But you people will know Sonic's game better than me: is there anything that you think Shulk could do to help out Sonic?
My roommate mains Shulk but unfortunately I don't really lab doubles.

Backslash > Spring is kind of funny.
Can this legit be in Mario Maker? You can already use your Wii Fit, Link, etc. Amiibo for this so might as well take the golden opportunity to play as Sonic.

@ Camalange Camalange Pretty sure that Sonic in Super Mario Maker is legit; Nintendo confirmed that the line of Smash amiibo are compatible with SMM (I don't think they've confirmed if the DLC cast will be compatible when their amiibos come out), even then, you can unlock the skins in the event you don't own that character's amiibo.

I personally didn't see any official confirmation of Sonic in Mario Maker, so if there is, I'd love to be linked to it.

I saw the Direct that showed off Amiibo costume support, but I want to see a Sonic confirm more than anything else. I don't remember for certain if they said every single one in the Smash line is compatible or not.

Greninja's also usable, which is a really pleasant surprise given how the Pokemon Company has handled amiibo compatibility prior.

I know basically nothing about Dr. Who.

Dr. Who?

See.
If you manage to pull this off in a tournament........ Oh my Naga......

Hey it's just the truth man :3. A lot prettier than my mug. Oh, what's your final form?
If anyone does, I'll pay good money.

I just meant moreso that I don't think that video was very flattering for me... Late, glasses on, dressed down... Not my peak aesthetic.

Eh, I still think you looked fine. And I don't really mind the glasses. They seem to suit you. Sort of lie Markiplier :3

Inb4 spring nerf, dair nerf, sc nerf and uair nerf

And if you play Sonic you will no longer be allowed to breathe.
Wait, what? What are you talking about?

I'm not asking for buffs so much at this point rather than just proper tweeks or no more nerfs in general. Or fixing BSBS.

Been meaning to ask you Cammy. Since you apparently have an obsession with Splatoon, what are your thoughts on the theme of the new Splatfest?

I cause that's true. Wait, what does that say about me?

Honestly I think Sonic only needs a slight buff to his front hit Dsmash and either increase power to Dair spike or better sweetspot. Regarding BSBS, I think it is then on purpose because if it wasn't, Sonic could get an extended recover, almost to the point of being ridiculous. Just before I continue with this, if Sonic has used his Double jump and Does with SD or SC and jumps, can he still perform and aerial?

I'm not obsessed with Splatoon as much as I am Squid Girl. I casually enjoy it, though. I formed a squad with Austy (the artist formerly known as Trent), Darkblues, and Numbers and we took to online ranked mode, lmao.

I think it's really cool that they're doing the Transformers thing. I'm not a huge fan myself, but it's an awesome inclusion. Hope to see more like that in the future.

Uh, not really. We didn't have this in Brawl.

It would just cause Sonic to not Spin Jump his way to death. His recovery itself would function exactly the same.
Just before I continue with this, if Sonic has used his Double jump and Does with SD or SC and jumps, can he still perform and aerial?
Can you rephrase this please?

Wait, I thought the glitch was that if double jump then either Side B or Down B, you couldn't jump out of it, even if you land on the stage?

Can you rephrase this please?

:093:
When you use your Side B or Down B and land on stage, can you jump then use an aerial or if you fall of the stage, can you still use an aerial?

No, because then you used your double jump, so that means the game did its job.

The glitch is when you single jump, SideB or DownB, land, Spin Jump, then try to jump... You can't. That's BSBS.

If you double jump, spin, roll off stage, you can't do anything. You're trapped.

If you single jump, spin, roll off stage, you can double jump, aerial or spring. This solves BSBS.

If you double jump, spin, land on stage, spin jump, you can still aerial or UpB out.

If you single jump, spin, land on stage, spin jump, you can still aerial or UpB out, but you can't double jump.

And of course, if you use your double jump offstage and spin, you have to touch the ground. You're completely trapped in spin.

If you save your double jump, you can spin and double jump, aerial, or spring out.

BSBS is fun.

Since my post was ignored in the Smash Academy forums, i'll just ask here since it's as good as any place, really:

I'm stuck in a little rut here in terms of improving myself. I'm strictly wi-fi unfortunately since every smash event in my state is too far(you would think the biggest city in NJ, Newark would be chock full of smash events, but there isn't any EVER) and I don't have people to play with, so I'm stuck with FG. Anther's ladder isn't too great either since players often reject lower ranked people, and it's only active at certain hours.

So as someone who has limited access to better people to play with, should I not even bother stressing trying to play this game competitively? I've taken an interest in competitive things since Melee, but now i'm just wondering if it's even worth the trouble if there's nowhere worthwhile. Starting up a scene is out of the question for me since that requires the time and money that I do not have as opposed to merely attending events.

Sonic's dair is way harder to hit with than about 99% of all meteor smashes that are stronger than it. If you ask me, it should be like :4link:'s pre 1.0.6 dtilt which true spiked, with no meteor cancelling,
:4luigi: dtaunt is also a true spike :p

Also, there's a new version of Pr- *Gets shot by @ Camalange Camalange *

That would be amazing. And you are definitely right. I mean seriously, Link has one of the most powerful Meteor Smashes in the Game and it is so freaking easy to hit, where Sonic's is not only hard to hit, the fact is that you could also die from it easier.

Wait, @ Camalange Camalange doesn't like Project M?

Man. How in the heck do you even deal with Zero Suit Samus? I feel like I've run into a wall fighting her and I get carried away by Up B combos every time.

Just use dash attacks and see of that works. She may be twice his size, but even Sonic can't be that hopeless against her.
