really most of the show consists of characters talking about how they're about to beat each other into the ground... for 5 episodes... after which the next big power is invented and it's on to the next guy.

The original Dragonball might be worth watching though, because one of the bad guys gets the power pole shoved into his anus and prances around shouting oooh oooh aaaah aaaah for 45 seconds. Also you see a lot of goku's penis.

Just start at the beginning of the Sayain Saga. There's some past refferences to Dragon Ball, but nothing too important to the story

Oh, and as you start watching it, make sure you also check out Team Fourstar's DragonBall Z abridged.

GT could have been good...well, the 7 dragon thing saga could have been good but it was presented hellishly wrong, and they went oo far with ss4.

but i did enojoy dbz the best.
dragonball seems cool.. martial arts actually have a meaning in it.

I thought GT had more of a plot focus than DBZ. z was awesome but it was heavily focused on dragged out fights and always "reaching the next level".

I likes them equally for different reasons.

I think I deserve the same punishment, I haven't finished FF7.

Personally I didn't really like GT, but there is some cool stuff like SS4. Always wanted to watch Dragonball, but some of the stuff in it looks a bit lame.

Kai had the opportunity to be really good with all the filler cut out, cleaned animation and new scenes, but I personally don't like that there's only the japanese music. Some of it is okay but the Funimation Remastered Box Sets's music just owns. Hopefully after Kai is finished they'll release the english music, Bruce Faulconer ftw.

I also don't like some of the new lines and the way the voice actors sound this time around (Goku and Piccolo sound a bit different). I see it as more of a new take on DBZ. Note I haven't actually seen a whole lot of Kai, but from what I've seen this is what I think about it.

Btw are you watching it in english or japanese? I personally could never stand the japanese dub for DBZ, I felt the english one was really good, which is usually not the case for animes.

its just really what u are familar with in the case of dbz. other stuff can have terrible dubs... mainly because of the terrible translation they do to try to lipsync.. :X

kai doesnt have the japanese music, they remade all new music for kai using a full whatever piece orchestra and the effect of having that is so much better (although bruce faulconers music was ****ing sick)

just start from the beginning timic, its so good.

and while cell was clearly the coolest bad guy, it really should have ended where it was orginally intended to end, at the end of the frieza saga

Even in DBZ without the lipsync we never would of got "It's over 9000!!"

(Vegeta says Higher than 8000 in Japanese version and it's far less dramatic, even the funimation redub is weak too)

brotip: don't watch remastered edition, it adds lots of extra useless dialogue and only a very small amount of actual decent lines.


no need to start with dragonball, most ppl started on z

There's only a few parts where the fights drag on and get boring with constant talking and new powerlevels/stalling.

-Frieza v ssj goku (it must show lava rising 100x)

-ussj trunks v perfect cell. Most of that fight is just trunks powering up.
-majin vegeta and goku pre fight
-the 3 episodes before dabura fight

The rest is good.

I used to watch it when it was on cheese tv. IIRC it aired at 7:30am, which was good as i had to leave for school at 8:10-8:20. Then it got moved up to 8.00 and i only remember seeing the start of most of cell saga eps and some of buu saga.

It was the in thing at primary school, everyone had dbz disks. They took over pokemon cards at one point. Why oh why did i trade my semi scratched gold super saiyan goku(very rare) for a silver ssj gohan with a bit of paint on it!
Only a few years ago did i think 'wait a second i can watch all the eps on the internet' I then watched them all many times over.
