She says she'll go back to the capital somehow, he's blunt saying she'll get killed, so he should stay with them if she wants to remain safe. They have to move before dawn as well, and doing so they leave their carriage. Filo protests, but Naofumi is clear that given their road will involve climbing rocky mountains, they can't go through now-

Raphtalia asks their current destination, Naofumi replies it's Siltvelt, the demi-human country they were going to before anyway. He figures that it appears the knights is doing anything they can to not allow him to cross that specific country, so he hopes they can be safe there-

A spy of the Church spotted them and informed the knights, so they had to walk under a cliff to not be seen-

Until they meet a dead end at reaching a peak, and they're surrounded by knights, what's more, the three other heroes are with them. Itsuki tells him to give himself in for kidnapping Melty, Naofumi points at how if she was kidnapped, she'd be tied or something, Motoyasu of course doesn't buys it, but Melty tries to give her testimony-

While at this, Malty onjured a large ball of light to call reinforcements-

-Then she casted fire right at Naofumi while Melty is behind her, Ren and Itsuki call her out and that she could end killing her, but Melty says that the only way to save her from his brainwashing is to kill her. Naofumi activates the Shield of Wrath, ad the reinforcements arrived and began aiming and shooting arrows at him-

-After the OP, they see some demi-humans farming, which surprises Naofumi given demi-humans tend to be treated horribly. Melty says that while most demi-humans are treated as slaves, there used to be activists for the rights of demi-humans, even amongst th nobility. One of them was Lord Seatto, a noble of great power who gave demi-humans in his territory independent villages for them to live in, but unfortunately he was killed in the first wave, and his supporters were driven off to the furthest parts of the country. Raphtalia knows that well, his village under his domain...-

-But says that, after the first wave, knights of the Royal Guard arrived and raided it, killing many men and enslaving most women and children-

-Melty is horrified and asks Raphtalia to tell her the appearance of those knights, as she'll make sure to bring them to justice, to which she thanks her. Regardless, Melty says the owner of this territory is named Lord Von Reichnott, he's a close ally of her mother who was one of those activists, so they can count on his help. Naofumi though, wonders if he can trust any nobleman... And speaking of noblemen, that Reichnott person snuck up on them and revealed his presence-

-Reichnott invited them to his manor, where the situation is explained. He says he's been informed by knights that Naofumi started the fire in the forest, at which he scoffs at, still he offers them hospitality for the night at least. He also had maids deliver them dinner, Filo is very happy to see the food, but Naofumi says they don't know if it's safe... So Reichnott took a small thing from Naofumi's plate to prove it isn't poisoned and tease a little. Melty says it's rude to not accept the hospitality, Naofumi says "whatever, we'll be off at dawn"-

-Reichnott says he's glad to see Melty seems to behave more like a child compared to when they last met, which embarrassed her. At dusk, they are allowed a bedroom, Melty says he should rest, but Naofumi insists he'll stay up at night in case of attack, then Raphtalia also tried to convince him to rest, to which he accepted. Melty is annoyed he doesn't takes her seriously, as she and Filo decide to go explore a bit-
