It’s been five years since I joined Smashboards. Tempus Fugit and all that.

I joined the day Robin and Lucina were revealed, as I was a lurker before lurking the 4 Shulk thread and thought Shulk was next. I decided to join to support Shulk, and do some other fun things here. I made some friends, but...

Some of them aren’t my friend anymore. Namely the group I met in the Shulk thread. Only half of them are still my friend now... and there were ups and downs. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss them, though.

But I nevertheless met other awesome peeps here, so thank you guys for making my time here awesome

I remember reading their various comics. He's not only a user here, but a pretty neat guy. He did some nice and simple animations among the comics.

It's also one of the few comics to have a Quest 64-related "episode".(Panel isn't the right word, so I'm not sure what the best way to say it is. I haven't read any Webcomics in ages, though I'd like to make one, but it's too adult for here even if I did get somewhere on it).

Not a Metroid expert, but I thing Samus wears her armor for her job. She looks comfortable and relaxed in her 'orange and blue shorts' outfits. I don't think a person with body image issues would be like that.

Also, Bayo probably doesn't need an armor, given how freakishly strong she is.

Hm, I mean, for me, since I would be using Rids the most if that was a thing...I would LOVE that a track based around Prime 3's Pirate Homeworld. And it would be so ridiculous with a lot of hazard thingies like the acid rain or the train thing kind of like the one in Kalimari Desert but way faster.

For what it's worth, I do apologize for being a bit snappy last night. I'm someone who vacillates a lot between excited and disappointed with the games depending on different elements of the game I see (the Wild Area concept looks great and the areas look so much more detailed... but Dynamax just seems boring and Dexit makes me pay extra attention to the rest of the game with a more critical eye than usual). But every time Masuda makes some sort of statement or comment on the situation, I find it very difficult to keep up the excitement for the game because what he says just seems like painfully bad PR and makes me reexamine the parts of the game he himself highlights as the reasons for Dexit, which tend to be the most lacking in my eyes. I'm willing to be critical of what the game is as opposed to what it isn't as I've stated before, but the whole situation surrounding the games do make me raise my eyebrows as to why things are the way they are and I am interested in discussing that to an extent.

What I am really afraid of is the fact that this whole situation seems like it could very well be leading to crunch or over-reliance on free lance work, practices that absolutely do warrant harsh criticism and condemnation. Limited resources on multiple HD projects that are objectively pretty content heavy games with strict deadlines for two of those given the Pokemon IP? Sounds like a place where employees could very easily be exploited. And while Nintendo did recently comment on New Horizons with regard to crunch, it's worth noting that Nintendo doesn't have the same control over The Pokemon Company and Game Freak that they do over AC and their internal studios. Not to mention, I'm always a bit skeptical of big companies making PR statements about their "healthy practices" in comparison to others without more direct input from the employees themselves. I certainly hope Nintendo is being that responsible in how they treat employees, but they're also a massive corporation in games development and really, none of those have good track records. We don't know if anything like that is happening, but it seems like a scarily real possibility given the circumstances.

As for fandom and your interactions with it, the best advice I can give is just take a break and re-evaluate how you approach your interactions with fans. I may seem like I get emotional about a lot of things Smash/Pokemon/Nintendo related, but it doesn't really stay with me once I leave SmashBoards and I mostly enjoy concentrating my bursts of gaming passion to these message boards since it's a place I can express an opinion and discuss with people. You can be emotionally invested in the entertainment in question without having to be as emotionally invested in the fan base and what everyone says. Breaks from places like this one, Reddit, and especially Twitter (God, I don't know why anyone puts up with how blatantly awful the platform has become, but to each their own) does a lot of good honestly. I'm not telling you to leave or anything of the sort, but just from personal experience, if you feel yourself becoming too emotionally invested in all of it and you dislike that, a break really will do wonders.

No, I'm pretty sure it was just the bird DNA they injected in her. Besides, she needs to be physically fit for being both a soldier then and a hunter now. It's got some lore in there.
