I've had a copy of Persona 5 taking up space in my home for at least a year now but I've yet to play it since my backlog is 2 miles long and I'm and old man who don't have the time for 60+ hour games anymore, that said I do want to get around to it eventually.
Dragon Quest is also on my radar with XI coming to Switch soon.

I was in the same spot with Persona 5 (sat in my backlog for a year) but after the VGA announcement I took it out and blew through it in 4 weeks.

1000000000% worth it.

If those bore you, here’s what i’ll suggest:

1) Persona 5 is a commitment, so if it’s a JRPG thing, i’d absolutely recommend starting with Final Fantasy VII. Even with the upcoming remake (which looks amazing), it’s just so good. I’d argue that having the experience of the original would amplify the enjoyment of the remake, but what do I know?

Splatoon is also super fun, but i’m sure you’ve seen the gameplay and what not. I’d always recommend it, but again it may not be for everyone.

I think I said this before but Yokai Watch really isn’t as popular as it used to be. I used to see it all the time circa 2013-2015 but it’s not so popular nowadays. Games wise, Fortnite, PUBG, Splatoon, and Minecraft are the big games. Pokémon continues to reign supreme in both mediums. DB is still a media powerhouse as is My Hero Academia/Titan.

Yokai Watch peaked during Smash 4 and gradually lost strength.

I'll wait for a price drop/general impressions. I'm sure the QOL changes for Royal will be great but I'm not so sure the new story stuff will be too hot. 4G was a mixed bag.

Based on the currently known roster of Smash Ultimate, which series with a playable character have you not played, and which series of those would you play first if you had the choice?

As i’ve played most of the series, Dragon Quest is coming up on my “games to play” schedule. I got DQ8 used locally, and I want to get DQ4 at some point but it’s not available at any GameStop’s by me.

Thoughts?

I'd like to play:
Persona 5
Some Metal Gear Solid games
Finish playing Bayonetta 1 (I am partially through it atm but had to set it down)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Earthbound or Mother 3
Super Metroid
Wario Land games
There are a couple games in series I HAVE played already that I still want to, such as a couple Megaman X games.

And I've not much interest in playing any fire emblem game, dragon quest gamefinal fantasy game, duck hunt, wii fit, splatoon, punch-out.

Don't hit me, but I have Xenoblade 1 and Splatoon 1 sitting and collecting dust. I bought the first one when it was originally at GameStop because it was a limited release and I thought I'd play it someday, and I got Splatoon 1 on sale at Best Buy. I'd honestly probably be more likely to play Xenoblade if I got the 3DS version though, which I know is just wasting money, but I'm much more of a portable gamer these days.

As I said above, I might try Animal Crossing when it comes to Switch.

But anyway, don’t worry about that...I have so many games I still have to play in my backlog that I don’t even know what to do. Now that i’m off for summer i’m going to have to see what I can get through while working on the house.

What I would do, if possible, is see if a GameStop near you has the 3DS version, and trade in the Wii version for credit toward it. It’s a really great game...but it’s real long, took my file 100 hours-ish.

Tell me about it! I’ve had an intense backlog issue for the last two years, and it just got worse this week, and will only get even worse at the end of the Summer. I’m totally with you there.

Persona 5 would be perfected for me if it were on a mobile console. It’s such a long game (it’s one of my favorite tbh, it’s that good) but I played it during the winter...there’s no way i’d have the time to commit to it over a Summer.

I'm still interested in playing a SMT game proper. I played a bit of digital devil saga a few months after Joker was announced but I quickly realised it probably wasn't a good idea to start a full-length RPG while I was so busy. Do want to find the time for it though.

As i’ve told others, Persona 5 is great! If you have the time to play it, do it. But I totally get where you’re coming from in regards to the length of the game. It’s...intense, for sure.

At this point, I got the MGS collection but have never played it.

(Also, never touched neither Gyromite nor Stackup aka R.O.B. games)

Bruh, MGS is so freaking good. Easily one of my favorite series. If you haven’t had the chance to play The Twin Snakes, play MGS3 first. It’s not that MGS2 is bad necessarily, but it’s not the best.

Such a good series.

I feel like the only person who thought the Villager looked like Alex from Minecraft while she was wearing the green shirt.

And they added more tools and crafting with what is basically a survival island. Sign me up.

There are very few games represented in Smash I haven’t touched at one point. I’ve tried my best to play (even if just a little bit) every game that these characters come from.

I’ve never technically played Fire Emblem The Blazing Blade (if I’m remembering that correctly) or FE Fates, so I guess Roy and Corrin are the main two. I’ve never played Gyromite or Stack-Up with R.O.B. so he’s also on the short list since that would be the only way to play with him originally (But I did Main him in Mario Kart DS lol). I’ve only touched the opening of Mother 3, so sort of Lucas. I’ve yet to play Gen VI and VII of Pokemon, so also Greninja and Incineroar technically count.

Yeah, so maybe 6 that I haven’t properly played in some capacity. Though if it’s characters in terms of if I’ve beat their home games? That number increases quite a bit haha...

Only because they wouldn't let them translate the manga. Probably because it was so violent, not on people, but on other things like animals. Even when Viz got in the early 2000s they had to change the dogs that got massacred into rats.

Thank God for JoJonium though, those are some slick books.

Earthbound is a doozy. It’s a good game, but it’s definitely out there. I haven’t played Mother 3, but I imagine it’s similar.

Persona 5, the Metal Gear series, and Symphony of the Night are some of the best games i’ve ever played, so if you have the opportunity i’d definitely play them.

It's thanks to Smash I played MGS1 and Persona 5 which are basically my #1 and #2.

It still hasn't done much to get me to play new Nintendo series ironically.

Oooo, you’ve got some good games you could play too!

Star Fox 64 is basically the game to play from that series.

Mega Man 2 was the game I started with. I got to Wily’s Castle and couldn’t beat it, but I went with Mega Man 11 and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Street Fighter V is what I played (it’s cheap now!) but Street Fighter II might be the most available? I don’t know, but it’s a great series.

Persona 5 is great, but only available on one console.

Final Fantasy VII and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night are among my favorite games, so I would absolutely, 100% recommend them.

I’m also planning on playing DQXI when it comes to Switch, but I also just got DQVIII, which i’ve heard is quite good as well.

Regardless, you’ve got some amazing series to potentially get exposed to!

Don't do it! You'll regret it once you've played it. XBC is my favourite game on Wii, it really is a fantastic game. No reason not to get the 3DS version if you'd prefer playing it that way, but it's definitely worth keeping the Wii copy in case.

Also doesn't the NTSC Wii version of XBC sell for a lot in the US?

lives the longest out of any dog in the series though. what a true trooper, only died when the ability was unnecessarily overpowered.
