Working on getting the SM64 proto rom working. Nintendo seems to have gone to some special effort with protective measures. I have figured out how they work, but need to either write a program that auto-removes them from the rom, or make a custom build of PJ64.

But the internet being the internet decided to hyper-focus on the most unbelievable part of it, the Wario apparition, which knocked the wind out of its sails for me.



The idea of a game that slightly modifies itself to better suit the person playing it? That's ****ing radical.

Oh yeah I can agree with that.

Apparently the dude who made the original conspiracy added in the Wario thing, though I guess it was still on the “believable” side since it was caused by the personalization AI. Now it’s a funny meme instead of anything creepy, although I guess what Greenio did with it in his videos kinda made it feel creepy.

edit: although I guess Greenio’s SM64 Beta videos are basically ghost things, so eh, idk.

Small open areas are at least tolerable. They’re not so big that you easily get lost or sidetracks and the fact that there award still multiple distinct and separate areas allows for... better storytelling. Just in general.

The Rake has a level of fame in-between creepypasta monsters that were all but unheard of and ones that were straight up famous like Slenderman.

Hasn't gotten overexposed in media and fiction unlike him. Siren Head's probably gonna meet the same fate as Slenderman at this rate, and Cartoon Cat might follow depending on how much exposure he gets.

On the other hand, Rampardos was better in the beta, so you can't win them all.

The whole parallel to Arceus and the Distprtion World iirc. Also, i think Giratina is the grand destroyer

We already know there's a number of beta designs for Pokemon like Escavalier, Throh, Thunderus, and the Lord Hydreigon line based on developer interviews, so I'm wondering if they made it far enough to have beta sprites floating around somewhere as well.

I do that to try to change things.
