It's not like she doesn't know how bad it is, because she watched the original 7 times through (+the movie once before this), so if anything, idk why she wants to wach it.

It was funny for all the wrong reasons, but it made no sense. My biggest issue: who thought that bending was OK? Especially that one Earthbending scene. The Fire Nation was a joke too.

Also, my younger sister (the big OG TLA fan) is slightly pissed now, so there's that.

Idk if I'd say TLA movie is better than Dragon Ball Evolution. TLA at least tried to get the plot correct (at least until they just gave up), but it was also worse in other aspects than Evolution. Evolution's biggest issue is how, for an adaptation, it somehow didn't follow the plot of anything DB in the slightest, but I'd say at least the characters were written somewhat (and that's a bit of a hyperbole) like their original incarnations.

TLA is personally worse for me since ATLA had such a big influence on me. The best thing Evolvion did was give Ernie Hudson a paycheck.

I was having a great time in Ultimate online playing characters I don't usually play, with things like items and lag not phasing me, but all it took was losing to one t-bagging troll to completely ruin my mood.

I've ran into that player before, actually. They're an Ice Climbers main I've seen in just under Elite Smash GSP who has those desych combos down perfectly and t-bag constantly in neutral, so I'm 90% sure they're smurfing for the sake of trolling middling GSP players. Unfortunately I didn't remember how to report someone since I do it so rarely, but I did block them later.

Cause it’s a damn good show that was pretty much unlike anything else that was made by western animation at the time and is widely considered Nickelodeon’s magnum opus, it took influence from some of the most influential parts of Japanese animation like Ghibli, had dynamic and well rounded characters, solid worldbuilding, perfectly balanced it’s comedy, action and drama, tackled a lot of mature themes, rarely pulled any punches, potentially pioneered all this and more for future animated shows, etc.

TL:DR There’s a lot of reasons and I can go on like this all night.

I acknowledge that. I just don’t think it’s anything special (except that Iroh segment of that one episode). Magbe it’s just because it wasn’t my first action cartoon. Danny Phantom took up all of my mental space at that age. Or maybe it was my aversion to the anime aesthetic.

A serialized action-adventure with character progression and a definitive endgoal was EXTREMELY uncommon at the time. There was nothing like ATLA when it aired, especially on Nickelodeon

For many people, it was the definitive "American Anime", and those people who once watched the show are now teens and young adults, with the rise of social media and streaming sites, people revist it, and turns out, the show is still legit good, and worth discussing. If you don't get it, cool, but it does have roots in both nostalgia, and still being a great show without rose tinted glasses.

Bonus: it is one if the very few cartoons that have actually detroned Spongebob for favorite cartoon at the Kids Choice Awards.

That's understandable. I was all about wacky adventures in 11 minutes when I was younger, so long shows with overarching plots weren't really my thing until I got into the Pokemon anime. It's what turned me off of Adventure time, because the Flame Princess drama was just stupid and LONG.
