The Winner Is....
Echoes are coming out strong this bracket.
I mean, considering the series was brought to life BY X-Men vs Street Fighter, I don't see anything wrong with that tbh.
Yeah, the roster's bloated and you can cut a lot of the fat but

Because it doesn't feel like the game it's being advertised as. Later MvC titles and heck other vs. games like TvC do a great job of representing all of Capcom without falling so heavily on Street Fighter. And the fact that we had super obscure characters like Marrow and Spiral before friggin Thor, AND that we still haven't had anyone from Spider-Man's vast rogues gallery besides Venom (and Spider-Man is often cited as having one of the best rogues galleries in all of comics) is a true crime. Heck, other villains from non-X-Men series is always something the series struggled with even to it's most recent installment. As a casual semi-fan of both companies, who frankly can't give a flying fig newton about the series past, when I buy "Marvel vs. Capcom" I want to get "Marvel vs. Capcom" not "X-Men vs. Street Fighter with a handful of other guys".
But Amingo is cool. I concede to that.
Granted Rival schools and debatable Darkstalkers are in the same universe as Street fighter so it's still filling it up with SF.
Bull ****ing ****. That's not how it works. If they're primarily known for, or star in, another series, that's the series they rep. MvCI isn't full of "MCU characters", it's full of Iron Man characters, and Captain America characters, and Thor characters, and Hulk characters, and Guardians of the Galaxy characters etc. And just because they're set in the same universe doesn't mean Rival Schools and Darkstalkers characters are suddenly Street Fighter characters.
Heck, MvC treats all the Capcom characters as coming from the same universe anyway. And that doesn't make Mega Man or Dante or Jill Street Fighter characters and you would never try to argue that.
