You can be unhappy with SwSh; never said you couldn't. You can refuse to acknowledge any of the good, and only focus on the bad. I'd prefer you'd not, but that's something should be able to do.

But randomly reminding two people who are having an honest discussion about what they're looking forward to most in SwSh that the graphics suck? Harassing people to not buy SwSh because they're supposedly ruining the next Gen by giving Game Freak money? Actively hoping to find more flaws in these games just so you can advance your narrative? No, that's really petty, and there's plenty of that online. There's no justifiable reason for any of these things.
By constantly going "It's so unfair of you to give any criticisms" you are indeed saying we can't be unhappy. You can't even have us be happy with the game without getting all smarmy yourself about how stupid people are for doubting they'd fix criticisms the annual franchise had for literally SIX years either. You made up excuses like "Oh review copies can't be sent out because they'd be low and that's not faaaaaaiiiiiir" and what do you know! Reviews are out and are mostly positive, with only Eurogamer being negative as far as I can tell. You act like this one game is what makes or breaks the franchise, as if should this game underperform, no more Pokemon ever again. Are there people being irrational about this? Yes. Absolutely. Death threats, false **** allegations, harassment, etc. It's horrid that this is a common thing and it isn't even directed at the people responsible for the issues they have, even if it doesn't justify them. Almost EVERYONE here who has problems loves Pokemon. We have over a decade of experience with the franchise and have so many fond memories of it, so many friends we got because of it, so much joy gotten out of it. Yet any criticism from those people, big or small, are suddenly just as bad as the people sending death threats apparantly. Having an issue with how genuinely awful the PR has been with literal lies and another case of "**** you casuals don't mind it why do you?", the fact that Japanese fans never would have found out about the dex cut until this week had it not been for the internet, the fact that a 24 hour stream was hyped up and only showed off a single snippet of info, all that and more, is deemed petty because you yourself don't care. If you don't care about any potential issues, why try to start **** with people who do all the goddamn time, this franchise has 8 million sales be deemed as low, there are and will be plenty of people who will gush about the game with you. Take it from me, the Toku fan, you can completely ignore the negativity inside and outside your fanbase, and Pokemon has the biggest fanbase of all so you'll have plenty of people who have the same thoughts as you do. We see this all the time, people have issues with a game, they make it loud and clear because we want them to get rid of the issues. I can't and wouldn't dare take away your excitement for the game, but you must learn that outside the vile ****, most of these criticisms are from people who want Pokemon to be the very best like no one ever was.

Even then the people blindly defending the game are also getting vile and spreading lies and conspiracy theories

I'm gonna ask something completely off topic:
Fellow Americans, what are you guys gonna do for the big eat day in two weeks?

NOTHING!
because literally none of my family live close enough to make it worth it, it's up to my parents, honestly.

Since we are talking about Animal Crossing, I may as well pull a JaidenAnimations and tell the story of that time Animal Crossing helped me IRL:

It was a regular day of summer and I just woke up with a friend who stayed home that day. My mother was watching the news at that moment and she got obsessed about some news regarding videogame addiction and social skills (something that would fall flat on her face the next day).

I went to my friend’s house to stay the day with him, and he had a small swimming pool over there. I was with him having fun on the pool... when suddenly my face (mostly around the mouth part) got smashed to the metal stairs by accident.
My mouth was bleeding and hurting so much that I could not literally talk without doing damage to myself. I tried to find any way to communicate but without success (my phone for example didn’t have battery)... but then I remembered something.

My friend happened to be a huge Animal Crossing fan: he got the NDS and Wii game and gifted me New Leaf back when I first got a New Nintendo 3DS. Trying to point my friend towards the Wii room, I tried to look for Let’s Go To The City (City Folk for the people at the USA)... and I found it.

Animal Crossing fans will likely know about the messages gimmick of the Animal Crossing games: you can write small messages and they will appear in-game for other villagers to see. Well, I basically used that mechanic to communicate with my friend for the rest of the day until my mouth stopped hurting.

When the day ended, we remembered my mother and how she got so obsessed about the news of videogame hurting people’s social skills... and he laughed of course after the Animal Crossing experience.

Eat turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, and dumplings before my grandparents ask me to be their chauffeur for Black Friday.

So I'll be sleepy from turkey and badly bruised from elbows in the face.

This took 25 minutes of writing and checked to be as respectful as possible yet firm so I'd not be seen as the raving lunatic for once, so don't act like I'm bringing up something from a year ago to continue the argument
honestly, read like a rant to me, IMO.

25 minutes of writing and you couldn’t figure out how separating lines work?

I'll admit, it is kinda funny how we almost went from SwSh talk to American politics.

As if that would be an improvement from the previous conversation.
Aren’t they (politics in general compared to dramatic videogame taking-sides) kind of the same thing, in a way? One purchase or non purchase of the game theoretically equals one vote regarding how TPC and Game Freak could handle games in the future (maybe it doesn’t, but yeah.) Hence, some people aggressively trying to convert others to their side.

I can back every pick on that list except Sakura. We already have 3 SEGA franchises and by your list, we also already have 3 Capcom, Square, and Konami Characters. Someone else needs time to shine.
I never got the whole "company slots" thing

characters should be considered for what they bring to the table, not for how many reps a company has

For example, I can still think of a dozen potential candidates when it comes to Capcom (Dante, Phoenix Wright, Monster hunter, Amaterasu, RE rep, etc). Refraining any of them from joining soley because "Capcom already has 3 reps and all the other companies should have equal representation", just feels silly in my book.

Well if all reps need to be equal we need at least 2 more SNK chara- *incoherent screeching from first party Nintendo only gamers*

Maybe, but I really don't want to make that comparison.

The stakes are much higher in a presidential election than a Pokemon game.

Besides the traditional dinner and ****, come on this thread and tell y'all what I am thankful for. I am preparing that list now. This brings me to the following:

Tira Fact #55 - Whenever I feel like posting something on here, I open Notepad, type what I want to say, and copy/paste.

When I look at Sword and Shield, I think about how lucky we are that 3D Mario games have never gone that same route.

A bad Mario game will still sell, just because of the branding alone. However, the devs have consistently made sure that series can be the best it could be.

The only one that could be considered underwhelming imo is 3D world, and even that has way more polish and love put into it than Sword & Shield.

The rest of them? Consistent classics, for more than two decades. They don’t have to put that love and care into it, but they do it anyway.

Politics exists at all levels and at varying levels of importance, though, given there’s also state, county, city, ect. officials that also need to be elected, plus even lesser positions like someone getting voted as school president or something. So, if this comparison is accurate, this would be *really* low-level (despite being publicized far, far more than most low-level elections.)

In positive SwoShi news, turns out that the one streamer who kept getting ****ed with performance issues and bugs seemed to have messed with the game's code to make it look bad, meaning while the games still are rather unpolished, it's not nearly as bad as it looked

Thank goodness.

Does that include the overworld's NPCs, 'mons and whatnot freezing while you're climbing a ladder?

Not that it's a big issue, but it looked very odd.

Also, while we're on the topic, kinda surprised to see frogger gain some traction as of late

it's likely due to that one bogus text leak that also conveniently involved doom guy and geno, but as somebody who was campaigning for the frog back in the smash 4 days before pretty much giving up on him, it's nice to see some appreciation for him.

Heck, It's even resurged my interest a bit.
