There are some days where I reminisce about my childhood and how I got into gaming. Today has been one of those days. I just remembered how much Half-Life affected my life and how it got me into PC gaming. If not for that game I probably wouldn't have met the people I met and my life experiences might have not been the same because of it. It saddens me to see that the Half-Life franchise is ignored by Valve and it's unlikely to ever return, but it's something that I have come to terms with. Half-Life is a series that I will treasure in my heart until the day I croak.

In a way, I feel like the series received the perfect closure. We’ll likely never get a new game, which makes the games we do have all the more special. There truly probably won’t ever be anything like the series for a long time.

So, if the screenshots are so easy to fake that they’re nothing more than circumstantial, and people have already decided this months ago because of the trailers, then why is this stuff trending NOW? Why hasn’t #GameFreakLied been trending for the last few months? And why are we piling on an innocent dev team doing the best they can in very unfortunate circumstances under orders from a very greedy company on the words of one cynical idiot?

I respect Game Freak, although they or the higher ups do seem to lack technical know-how. I also think TPC is largely whom people should blame for this, but idk; some of the stuff in the game seems like it could be Game Freak as it seems like some stuff that shouldn't be there even with the deadline, but again, idk.

I'm guessing it's only trending just now because, while peope analyzed the models beforehand and found most of them to be no different than the previous games' models (some only being a little bit different in the amount of polygons/the shape of some limb or foot or something), they now seem to have proof.

No, and it'd be fine if that's what most people were doing, but the hashtag is being used to point out multiple unrelated flaws with SwSh, not just models. And then we have self-righteous people who feel justified in saying that anyone who is okay with most of the flaws in SwSh and will still pick them up in two days is a hopeless apologist who likes less content and will defend Game Freak regardless of what decisions they make.

So yeah, people are not being very kind to people who are genuinely looking forward to SwSh.

You aren't being kind to people who were looking forward to the game despite the Dex cut yet still feel disappointed for various other reasons. When we learned that Game Freak finally listened to one of, if not THE biggest criticisms people had for half a decade, we had like 2 pages of "Wow that's actually great" even from people who refuse to buy SwoShi yet you felt the need to say this as if nobody was talking about it

If Game Freak does something right, it's worth acknowledging.

So maybe shut up about how unfair it is that people aren't happy with a beloved franchise having a subpar installment

You can be unhappy with SwSh; never said you couldn't. You can refuse to acknowledge any of the good and only focus on the bad. I'd prefer you'd not, but that's something should be able to do freely.

Half-Life is a series whose magic I doubt will be replicated for a very long time. I'm kind of glad Marc leaked the script of the third game, it gives closure to those who wanted to see how the story ends and it leaves Half-Life 3 as this gaming mythical legend that will be spoken of for ages.

I mean, Vaanrose gets paid to know stuff like art and animation, it's his job and the whiskers moving the exact same way is something that cannot be done with ease. Even then, you're assuming the datamines are fake when we know for a fact that the game broke streetdate, it's like assuming the Smash Ultimate songs that leaked prerelease due to the ROM must be faked

I kind of miss gaming before the internet. You heard word of mouth from a friend, or, you looked at the back of the box in the store, thought something looked cool, took it home and played it. There are lots of games I have fond memories of that, now, when I looked them up were considered terrible games. I had no idea as a child, and just had fun.

The availability of information on games is great in some aspects, and maturing tastes and limited time/money mean that buying a game blind is rarely a good call anymore. But the hardcore analysis of things always seems to be a double-edged sword.
