In positive SwoShi news, turns out that the one streamer who kept getting ****ed with performance issues and bugs seemed to have messed with the game's code to make it look bad, meaning while the games still are rather unpolished, it's not nearly as bad as it looked
I'll keep it short because I don't want to start the conversation again, but this is what I was talking about earlier.

Please don't purposely try to make the game look bad to others just to push your agenda. Let people decide for themselves based off of honest gameplay and footage.

Nobody here is purposely trying to make the game look bad though. This is what I mean, you lump anyone who's been even remotely negative with every pissbaby

I'm gonna ask something completely off topic:
Fellow Americans, what are you guys gonna do for the big eat day in two weeks?
Well I'm gonna have a huge ass dinner with my family and friends but besides that not much.

Thanksgiving is pretty much Christmas/Hanukkah/etc lite anyways.

Never said anyone here was, nor am I lumping people together. This entire time I've been talking about people I've actually seen on Twitter.

Warning to anyone planning on getting SWSH: The 3rd legendary fight has leaked. I would stay off of Youtube for the time being.

I never got the whole "company slots" thing

characters should be considered for what they bring to the table, not for how many reps a company has

For example, I can still think of a dozen potential candidates when it comes to Capcom (Dante, Phoenix Wright, Monster hunter, Amaterasu, RE rep, etc). Refraining any of them from joining soley because "Capcom already has 3 reps and all the other companies should have equal representation", just feels silly in my book.
It doesn’t feel silly to me. If any one group of characters gets disproportionately/comparatively large then it kind of breaks the whole “crossover angle”. I have the same problem with Injustice and it’s heavy reliance on Batman characters or Classic Marvel vs Capcom where freakin Marrow got in before Thor and we still don’t have any spider-man villains besides venom. It’s all about balance. To me anyway.

I don't see how that's an issue when it comes to third parties,

how is adding another rep form a company like Sega, Konami, or Capcom, with 3 each, gonna break the illusion when we already have 60+ Nintendo characters on the roster?

Because they need to stay balanced among each other. No one third party company is more important than another. If they’ve been involved with Smash as long as everyone else has, they get the same amount of characters as everyone else.

Fellas I think Snake has been replaced by a body snatcher considering how much she kept going on about adoring guest characters

This isn’t new. I’ve said this before. I love guest characters yes. But smash isn’t really the same. In other Fighters, a guest character is a special addition from outside the games main world. In Smash, that’s true for the main roster characters too. They don’t feel like guests because everyone feels like guests. There no real host universe, if that makes sense.

Besides, if at any point in my life I had been replaced by a body snatcher it would have been a month ago when I finally admitted nintendo wasn’t evil.

I’ve said too much......

The crossover angle is with the characters and series themselves, not the companies.

And no company seems to mind another getting more. It's entirely Nintendo's game. They can do what they want.

To be fair, it kinda makes sense SEGA and Capcom getting more characters than, say, Microsoft. Not every company has equal amounts of beloved or influential characters and acting like they do for the sake of keeping numbers in check doesn't have much benefit to anyone.

Equity over equality, as I sometimes say.

Namco is the biggest offender of this. Their catalogue mostly contains anime adaptations and the few original properties they have; Tekken, Dark Souls, Soul Calibur, and Tales of, all haveultiple characters of varying popularity and it's hard to just pick one for the sake of it because they work on Smash. At least that's how I feel about it.

I mean it makes sense given Nintendo has the best relationships with Capcom, Sega and now Microsoft.

Then again we've yet to get an Ubisoft rep...

actually, when it comes to Sega, Sonic's the only one of the three that was actually created in house by them.

I can barely even classify Bayo and Joker as full on "sega reps"

Bayonetta was developed by Platinum Games, and the more recent games were almost exclusively published by Nintendo. Sega just happens to own the IP

As for Joker, He's moreso an Atlus rep, and Persona 5 was in development before Sega's acquisition of the company in 2013. Heck, the fact that Atlus is in the character copyright means they had to go through them, and not Sega themselves to actually use Joker.

When you’re creating a character, how do you decide on a name for them? I always struggle with it and end up just using a random name generator.
Depends on what you want to do with the name, names often have meanings, both irl and fictional, so I try to find a name that fits my characters in any way, like, idk, a girl with magnetic powers having Puh Laar as her name. It's fun as you can play with other cultures like this too which helps your worldbuilding

Depends on the setting.

Fictional setting? Easy, just create a name that I can imagine people calling them.

Real-world? Spend a week looking at name dictionaries before settling for a super basic name.

Since the ones I'm working on is for my Pokemon hack(based upon Quest 64), I'm looking more for puns/wordplay, or name corruptions. Like I just came up with Orejinn, being the evolution of the Rock type named Impakt(who is obviously an Imp). At the moment, I can't figure out how to redesign its tail like the other 3 related monsters. Who are all Fire, Water, and Wind respectively(with a Hammer referencing a forge, a hook referencing pirates, and a katana for the ninja aspect for the tails in general).

I've been trying to figure out tons of names lately as is. Though my Dungeon Crawler is almost entirely puns/corruptions. The hack still has tons of reused names from Quest 64 itself, which makes sense, since I'm still reusing many monsters. Just some with necessary renames either because it's a boring name(Ghost becomes Spiritua) or a 10-letter limit(Catastrophe is named Katastrofi, and Filydophia is Filydolfia for the same reason).

Is there like, some sort of reverse name dictionary where you enter meanings and get names back instead of the other way round?

What about a superhero setting that’s kind of both?

I've used a thesaurus to figure out some names myself. Via dictionary.com's alternate site. It's not perfect, though. You still need to come up with names on your own to some degree. If only just to take a current word an change it up a bit. If you need help with that, I might be able to help with ideas. :) It's how I came up with Neuroraven, the pre-evolution of Vulterror and Scarecrow, after all.

So what your saying is that we need tons more Sega content in smash.

I'm good with that, give me Kiryu and Sakura

My ideal “SEGA proper” pick would be NiGHTS. And if we end up having Tekken and/or Mortal Kombat on top of Street Fighter and KoF, then why not throw in Virtua Fighter as well.
Snake, why are you putting Barry Allen in a cake
GOD DAMN OT AUTOCORRECT!!! How do you turn “one” into “cake”!?!
