Sonic 06 is a marvel on the Sega Gamesphere, and is sure to lead the industry into greatness!

...Meanwhile Mario Galaxy is quite possibly the worst game ever made. Nintendo still hasn’t recovered from the N64’s devastating failure it seems.
This. Puts a smile on my face.

Edit: still smiling

Man, this joke just reminds me of how bad Sonic has it. I really wish that Sega would take their time, and rethink what a Sonic game is. Make the game a 3D platformer, with a focus on speed? If it works, just make sequels that expand upon and improve it.
I think you are spot on overall. The collecting isn't as diverse as I would have hoped, but it's a fun game to complete and I love the worlds. Copying abilities was neat, although not an idea that should be revisited. I don't think it can have as much as an impact a second time around.

The final boss/segment is definitely memorable though. It's unique for Mario, and I love the moon setting.

Galaxy remains the best 3D Mario experience in my book.
Yeah, I love Galaxy. I know this is another controversial opinion, but I actually like Galaxy 2 a little more.

Sure it's story isn't as interesting, and progression is more linear. But on repeat playthroughs, I have more fun with 2. The worlds were still fun and creative, the music still spot-on, and the physics are noticeably better.

I liked Galaxy's difficulty. Odyssey felt way too easy to me.

That being said, I never got bored playing Odyssey, even after the final boss. Galaxy was fun and more of a challenge, but the "Get from point A to point B" gameplay took away from the enjoyment. Despite having several expansive worlds to play in, there was barely any point in exploring. Most of the levels were mapped out so you had a straightforward path to the Super Star.

The only exceptions are the two Bee Galaxies, Beach Bowl Galaxy, and Deep Dark Galaxy. All of those worlds were designed to encourage players to explore, and I really wish Galaxy had more of that.

Feck you I’m deleting that post

Yain’t gonna hate on Nintendo on my dime.
Jokes on you. It’s quoted in my post and I ain’t editing it. It’s forever preserved.
Jeez, do you have some kind of personal vendetta against Nintendo? I'm not the biggest Sony/Playstation fan myself, but I wouldn't want to see them fail just 'cause I don't like them.
.......
A little bit. Yeah.

But that’s all I have to say about that.

I know everyone else has given up hope, but I’m still hoping for a Paper Mario return to form.
Paper Mario still has the ingredients to be good: solid writing, solid unique characters when they can be bothered to make those anymore, and interesting worlds.

Just need some unique takes on the species again and the old system.

Okay so I'm playing through the Blue Lions route as my first route through FE:TH and I just got to the first post-timeskip battle.

And all I have to say right now is a simple fact.. Ashe is hot as hell.

I have to admit out side of the paper mario game TYDD and the Mario and Luigi games Super Star Saga and Partner's in Time. I honestly hated Mario games. There was never really a story to them it was just Mario saving Peach. That kind of thing made me not care for the world or the characters in that world. I felt almost no connection with them on an empathetic level and could careless what happens to them. Mario's lack of a character and lack of world building has made me not like Mario games.

Sonic is the opposite I actually care what happens to the characters Eggman included.

Tennis being the one sport series that survives to this day is insulting when footy and golf are better.

Played Mario Golf 64 with my dad often. Treasured game.

As a reptile lover, I agree.

As a master of romance, the first game has Rosalina, while this one has freakin’ Lubba.

I am in confliction.
I love that Galaxy 1 has an actual story but I can never forgive this game for not making use of Flying Mario outside of the Comet Observatory.

It took me 90 minutes to sell enough Dog Residue for Tem pay 4 colleg and the Temmie Armor. When I originally played Undertale four years ago on PC, I just used Cheat Engine to save time and just give myself the money. Can't do that on Switch, though, I had to do it legit. No regrets.

Opinions:
Classic 2D Mario > DKC Trilogy
NSMB rehashes < Returns/Tropical Freeze

Not a fan of the open world 3D Mario games, but Odyssey kept my attention throughout. 3D World is probably my favorite. 64 has aged horribly.

As much as I hope Paper Mario returns to it's roots, personally speaking I love Super Paper Mario. It was my first game in the series, so there's a little bit of bias there. Playing through that game for the first time, when all I knew about Mario's world was from the main games and sports games, was really special. I had know idea Mario's world could have so many interesting places, emotions, and awesome storytelling. It was like combining a traditional Mario game with an RPG, and it was beautiful.

And yet here you are on a Nintendo message board. You are an enigma, that's for sure.

Hey. I like Smash. And Donkey Kong.
Wait. How am I responding to this? I’m asleep

Calling 2D Mario safe is a kinda true.

Calling 3D Mario safe is worth a spankin.
I can't think of many people who say that. If anything, I kind of dig the idea of them refining some of their crazier mechanics. Y'know outside of them all being follow ups to 64. Stuff like F.L.U.D.D got dropped after 1 game. We never saw full-on co-op in 3D after 3D World. Really, only Galaxy 2 did that, and to a lesser extent, Yoshi being back but he functions differently from Sunshine as it is.

For the most part I like the innovation, but I don't want cool mechanics to get dropped forever either. I'm hoping the Double Gear from MM11 is in MM12, or a lot of the Team mechanics in MMX8 carries over to MMX9 for example.

Personally I'd want to see a remake of Sunshine in the vein of 64's remake, a few extra levels, some new enemies and bosses, maybe new characters etc. It'll let the refine a couple of the goofy parts of Sunshine and maybe do more with some of FLUDD's modes.

Super Paper Mario has the best story of any Mario game, and given that there's over a hundred, that's saying something. It has the best characters and some of the best writing, even if the RPG elements aren't as strong. It's a shame that it gets overlooked and underrated so much simply because its gameplay is different, when its narrative is the strongest in the series.

Dimentio's my favorite character. I wish he'd make a return in another game sometime. I think if he showed up as a playable character in a spinoff game out of nowhere, I'd lose my mind. But Mario Kart, Mario Party, and the sports games generally prefer to go for generic characters and pretend that the RPG games don't exist, so that'll never happen.

TTYD is peak Paper Mario gameplay wise.
SPM is peak Paper Mario in terms of the narrative.

SPM is different, but it's a good kind of different unlike Star Fox Adventures or Nuts & Bolts. While I do wish the game had the RPG elements (if it did, it would be remembered so much more fondly. It had all the set-pieces to be great), the gameplay remains fun.

I'm still waiting for P5 characters to show up in a traditional fighting game... :/
I have no idea how they are going to tackle a potential Persona 5 Arena.

If they want to have a reasonable amount of playable characters, they'll need to resprite some P3/P4 characters.

Am I the only one who liked Lubba...?
Lubba just gets hate for not being Rosalina. He was a downgrade from her and Polari, but his character is actually pretty charming.

If any companion deserves hate, hate on FLUDD. It has no personality whatsoever because it's supposed to be a robotic servant. Yet for whatever reason you're expected to have some deep personal relationship with it when it bites the dust and temporarily "dies".

I don’t know why they wouldn’t. 4 Arena had characters from 3 in it.

Plus, Arc System Works does 3D modeling now. Every character is gonna have to be made from scratch.
