TTYD was kinda just ok in all honesty, the gameplay changes from 64 were minimal, backtracking was annoying and stuff like audience and stage rng was kinda crappy most of the time.

I don’t know why they wouldn’t. 4 Arena had characters from 3 in it.
Because P5 takes place a few years after P4. Investigation Team can't use their high school uniforms. That means they're going to draw some characters from scratch even though they have movesets for them. It might prevent them from bringing everyone back.

Plus, Arc System Works does 3D modeling now. Every character is gonna have to be made from scratch.
It's not like all of their games are suddenly be 3D. Cross Tag Battle still reuses sprites, for example. If they work, they don't need a ditch a lower-price development way suitable for a spin-off game.

New Super Mario is actually a sham. It's why I never bought any of em.

Besides, Donkey Kong is their best side scrolling platformer.
As a collective unit, yeah, the NSMB games are kinda rehashy.

...But I will absolutely defend New Super Mario Bros. Wii as one of the best 2D Mario games, to the point where I'd even put it above Super Mario World.

Mainly because it added so much coming from the original DS game. Four player co-op, Yoshi integration, the return of the Koopalings after almost two decades, the Penguin Suit which made water levels incredibly fun, the Propeller Mushroom which gave tons of movement options, a nice set of challenging secret worlds, and what is in my opinion the best 2D Bowser fight, complete with amazing boss music. And it came in a red case.

The problem is that the New subseries peaked with this game. U plateaued and 2 dropped the ball.

Thank goodness someone appreciates this game. It was a huge part of my childhood, and even today I still love it. People usually group it with the others and call it generic, uninspired, lazy, etc. But it was only the second game in the series, and like you said it added so much more from the original, as well as finally bringing back the Koopalings.

Lubba just gets hate for not being Rosalina. He was a downgrade from her and Polari, but his character is actually pretty charming.

If any companion deserves hate, hate on FLUDD. It has no personality whatsoever because it's supposed to be a robotic servant. Yet for whatever reason you're expected to have some deep personal relationship with it when it bites the dust and temporarily "dies".
That description of FLUDD pretty much exactly sounds like Fi lmao

I tried it once. Couldn’t get a hang of the controls.

There's actually a fanmade take on New Super Mario Bros. It's called Newer Super Mario Bros Wii.
...Yeah, that name's not very original, but that game is actually worth checking out. It's pretty good. Has a lot more to offer than the usual NSMB games.

I'm sure a lot of people didn't get a hang of the controls at first. But putting down a game just because you couldn't get the hang of it immediately will never allow you to improve.

I know I certainly wasn't good at smash the first time I played, in fact I was trash at it. But I kept playing, and eventually got the hang of it. Now I'm really good at smash.

Well. I was also trying it in my church’s rec room. And then I had to go home and I obviously didn’t take it with me. I don’t own a copy myself.

Huh, I also played the game for the first time in a church rec room. The only chances I had to improve my skill was when I rented the game from said library.

That game was so elusive for me back then, as I could only play it through rentals. But actually getting to play it felt so rewarding. Those were the days...

Oh yeah, I own the game now btw

I could probably snag it from there and nobody would notice or care tbh. Maybe next time I’m home.

Also Super Mario 64 is what defined 3d platformers to begin with in a time where 2d games were all the rage. Really, I'm not buying 3d Mario as safe as you'd expect.

Love it or hate it, FLUDD made Mario Sunshine more than Super Mario 64 2 and gave the player a lot of fun ways to travel the worlds.

Galaxy is basically Sunshine but refined and IN SPACE

3D World is what happens when you take the 2d formula and expand it into 3d with multiplayer, bright worlds, and a jazzin' soundtrack.

This is also ignoring spinoffs.

2D Mario needs a reboot of some kind, though. Not even the NES games were as formulaic and dry as the New Super Mario Bros series.
Time to bring in air-dashing into 2D Mario.

I'll give NSMB1 one thing, it DID add some mechanics and styling from the 3D games and translate them into 2D. Mario being able to Wall Jump/Wall Slide and Triple Jumping being the main ones. There's also a ground pound, but Yoshi AND Wario had that first, and I think so did Peach since her game came out before NSMB1.

Alright, subject change.

What is the most obscure cartoon you know of?
The WILD C.A.T.S cartoon, but I didn't watch while it was airing. Also, I don't consider Dave the Barbarian that because that show slapped.

F.L.U.D.D. is absolutely not like Fi.

F.L.U.D.D. actually asked you if you wanted to hear an explanation again and didn't impede progress and rather gave insightful information; Fi would do so without your consent and would half the time give you info you already knew while inhibiting gameplay to explain this to you.

Granted, personality-wise, they are a bit similar, but in terms of execution and how helpful they were? F.L.U.D.D. completely blows Fi out of the water.

Oh, and also, I'm happy SPM is a lot more recognized nowadays.

To see a game I adore finally gaining some fans and appraisal after so many years of people bashing it makes me feel vindicated.

On the whole re-hashing thing, I think only the NSMB series really suffered from it. U and 2 didn't really add much and most of their level aesthetics were pretty similar, barring the Starry Night inspired levels in NSMBU.

But considering I also like Mega Man and Kirby, it's clear I don't have that much of an issue with it as long as the core game is really fun or they add overall mechanics to make things more interesting. Like the Slide, then the Charge Shot, Then the Rush Armors, ect ect. But I guess in Mega Man's case, the normally drastic change in weaponry, finding a perfect Robot Master path and different enough level themes can help. And obviously this applies to the Mega Man X and Zero games as well.

And Kirby has some depth in it's movesets despite the easiness of most of the games, to the point where it's practically a Beat 'Em Up.

Metroid's only had a handful of titles and remakes so there's less to rehash, but I think most things are handled well. I think Prime 2's weaponry and settings are the most standout of the titles. Prime 1 gave us the first real snow area.

CV games give you quite a lot of tools, so they hardly get boring.

That description of FLUDD pretty much exactly sounds like Fi lmao
Don't diss FLUUD like that. That ***** had our backs. Literally.

I like it when installments have unique features to them to differentiate them from others in the franchise instead of building of one another.

One of the few exceptions to me is Super Smash Bros. because the premise of the franchise is this huge crossover with different IPs

Obviously the best Mario partner is Cappy, though.

Honestly? If they combined all of the partners in some conglomerate of Sunshine, Galaxy, and Odyssey? There would never be a game as versatile in terms of the sheer amount of movement options and I feel that looking back at what each partner can add to Mario's moveset, they'd all blend in pretty well with each other. Cappy takes the two buttons for input he already had, F.L.U.D.D. takes the rest, and Baby Luma obviously just needs a flick of the Joycon.

Just wanna say that Windows10 update 1903 is ****ing terrible.
Agreed.

It’s so terrible, my computer won’t frickin update to it no matter how much it tries. I finally just made it stop; manually installing didn’t work, nor any solutions on YouTube and whatnot.

Basically, Mario would almost never leave the ground.

Spin Jump into FLUDD, Cap toss, FLUDD cancel, Cap toss cancel, ect ect. And finish with a Luma Jump.

Hmmm....

NES and SNES online have custome controllers. The Switch already has GameCube adapter support.....

If they do N64 online are they gonna release an N64 controller for the Switch?
Nah we do not need THAT mistake to happen again.

Just dont play the original Mario Party though. I imagine some mini games would wreck your joycons and make it drift like mad. Not that it matters as 2 and 3 are far superior anyhow.

Nah, Super Paper Mario is still kinda sucky, you can't change my mind. Good story, stale as heck gameplay that really drags it down. A lot.

Like, I feel like they were going for a SoTN styled game, just more linear, but, it didn't really work.
