I’ve been obsessed with the idea of a 2nd “Pokémon Trainer” Character. But one that’s not from Pokémon. Would SMT be a good franchise to do that with?

Terry from Dragon Warrior Monsters could work. You fight with teams of three in that game, Terry doesn't fight directly, and there are plenty of Dragon Quest/Warrior monsters to work with. (another Dragon Quest Monsters protagonist might also work, but I haven't played the other games)

There's also Tony Jones from Magi-Nation, but nobody's ever heard of Magi-Nation.

Already said this before but Sm4sh looks like a beta version of Ultimate in comparison.

If it was exclusively 3DS as originally planned, I think the game would be better regarded today. For a handheld it has the ideal pacing.
However, I am not sure if we would have gotten tournaments with it, at least not in the long-term.

Oh yeah Pokemon's a thing. Uh kind of lost interest in it due to Luigi's Mansion 3 looking sharper and it releasing around the same time span.

It's not the National Dex the issue, but it's rather the lack of promise in general for me. I thought the first proper console experience would be grander. It still feels like a game held back from its handheld days but with a free camera. Maybe I got my expectations up too high?

Now Mansion 3 - that looks like a fine ass game if I say so myself. Whenever they add information about it only gets better. Think this could be a Switch highlight.

Hope there aren't any great Pokemon that are exclusive to Shield - you can always trade for them, but requests on the GTS are wack (guess you can go ask on somewhere like Reddit though)
