I have had a couple of interesting and crazy days. Rewind back to Tuesday. My wife went to the hospital for a scheduled surgery on Wednesday. I drove her to the Shinkansen station and then drove our two year old to the day care. I then went to work.

I found out that we forgot to include some important paperwork that meant not having to pay $10,000 up front for the surgery. They informed us that we couldn’t mail or fax it. The hospital is about an hour and half away by Shinkansen and about $100 round trip per ticket. I decided that I would go with my daughter on a Wednesday night as we were already planning on going Thursday morning to meet with her up after being discharged.

But they informed us late at 9:00 pm on Tuesday that they needed the paperwork by 11 the next morning. So I had to make a few late emergency calls and cancel all of my morning classes to deliver these documents. So Wednesday morning, I dropped my daughter at daycare and then took the Shinkansen to the hospital. I managed to get there at 10. So I decided to stay seeing how the surgery was at 11:15. However, due to complications from an earlier surgery, they had to reschedule it for 5 pm which is when I had to pick up my daughter. So i decided to leave and head back home. I got back and went back to work to finish up some prep for Friday seeing as how I would t be able to on Thursday. I arrived to my school to find tons of police in the area and the doors all shut. I thought perhaps someone stabbed someone which is usually the protocol.

Nope. A black bear had chased a first grader and sixth graders managed to chase away the bear (probably around 1 and half years old) with baseball bats and tennis rackets. We have had several bear sightings in our area. So when I arrived, the police were driving the students to their homes in the police cars and teachers were poking the perimeters of the school with metal sticks. I was wondering what would happen if they poked the bear.

So I was called by the daycare to come pick up our daughter early as, funny enough, the daycare is fairly close to my school. She was apparently outside with the other daycare kids during this incident. I’m glad nothing happened with her:

So thankfully, nothing bad happened and I got a call from the hospital the surgery was a success. So I prepared to make the trip back out the next morning to got meet her at the hospital. It’s important to note that my daughter prefers my wife compared to me so doing anything I as like pulling teeth. Giving a bath, dinner time, brushing teeth felt like I was torturing her lol.

So the next morning, we got on the train and had not such a bad train ride up. She doesn’t like trains but she enjoyed watching out the window. Altogether it took about an hour and a half to get to the hospital ... even with breaks to change diapers and grab some juice,

So after meeting up with my wife, we decided to take it easy and do some low-key shopping. My wife couldn’t eat but we still enjoyed some Krispy Kreme (it’s been over 12 years since I last had one) and some Cinnabons (last time I ate a cinnamon roll was probably 8 years ago lol). So all in all it wasn’t too bad. Our daughter slept very little and was a bit cranky on the Shinkansen ride back at around 4 pm. We got some angry looks by people around us but oh well.

So our daughter went to bed at 7:30 pm and we went to bed at 9, completely exhausted. I woke up this morning at 5 which is my usual wake up time and my wife and daughter woke up at 7 am. And it feels like it’s Monday and not Friday.

Needless to say, the river has about 100 new rocks to add to its collection lol.

Well, I unloaded my entire week. Thankfully, we have a three day weekend coming up.

I wish I lived near a river. In a house. Not this Virtual prison cell they expect me to call a dorm room.

Don’t get me wrong. I love cities. But none of the places i’ve lived on campus have felt like a home.

I never lived in a dorm. I was adamant about not living in one and managed to get my university to agree to allow me to live on off-campus apartments for my first year. It was required that all non-commuting freshmen university students to live in dorms but I argued that living in one would negatively impact my studies and health. Which it would as I wanted to focus on studying as opposed to social/partying life.

I lived in four different apartment complexes, first two years on my own and the last two with a Japanese friend of mine who was a student. I felt living in the same apartment would be dull.

I mean, some of the enemies you'll encounter in EarthBound alone include:

Gas pumps
Abstract art
Cups of coffee
Puppets
Middle-aged women with shopping bags
Molecules
Demonic petunias
Zombies
Cultists obsessed with the color blue
Walking nooses
Floating lips
Dice
Piles of puke

I can’t even.... I don’t even know where to begin with this. Like, your making fun of people for just.... having opinions.

And no. To clear up and potential ambiguity, I am NOT playing along with this ******* “Mario will never be in Smash” meme. It’s lazy. It’s not funny. And it trivializes people’s actual emotions.

I’m so sick of everyone. Nobody cares about how other people feel. And because of that we probably have the worst societal mental health in history and it’s probably gonna end very badly for everyone if the people up top never start feeling bad for hurting people.

That’s how I’d fix the planet if I could do literally anything. I’d make it so everyone could feel everyone else’s emotions. Like Deanna Troi on Star Trek.

I knew a guy who stayed at a dorm and was adamant about studying and getting good grades. He was a good student in high school and did very well for himself. Same here. There's a farm next door outside my window right now. Ended up staying in dorms my entire time at college. I even opted to stay in the exact same room for 3 years. Apartments were Junior year and above only so they were always full of alcohol. Plus they were basically an extra half-mile walk plus no cafeteria benefits.

Freshman year was stressful to the extent I was feeling physical illnesses. Campus police was on our floor once a week. Next door neighbors didn't care about the volume level when they played guitar (neither did the RA). My roommate always had their significant other or twin sibling over, while my condo-mate was renting out their room for $$$ to random strangers. Only good part was that during the 2nd semester, due to idiots being idiots, when my roommates tried to kick me out I stood my ground and they themselves moved out and left me the entire room to myself.

Aside from suffering from depression, especially on the weekends when everyone in the dorm goes home/commuter campus, Sophomore year and above got significantly better.

Do you guys think Banjo's playstyle is faithful to his source material/games?

Personally. I think Banjo having a Zoning/Setup Hybrid playstyle with some All Around sprinkled in, is more based on Banjo Tooie. Since from what I've heard, you focus a lot more on your eggs.

The fact that Banjo's neutral is reliant on grenade eggs is what makes him more close to Banjo Tooie than Kazooie. Grenade eggs were your best offensive tool. It one-shotted enemies, was the solution to a lot of puzzles and blockades, and did good damage against bosses.

His forward smash and up smash are also from Tooie.

Really, Banjo's speed feels like I activated the double speed cheat code in Banjo Tooie. It's Banjo Tooie.

Except golden wings and jump pad. Those are from the first game.

The condo-mate who was renting their room transferred, so without talking with each other, my roommate and the other condo-mate tried to fill the spot with their sibling/best friend. The 4 of them ended up trying to gang up on me and pressure me to move rooms (one where it was objectively worse). They even tried bribing me with $ and their significant other. Eventually they gave up and worked on a different solution to their problem.

Now if only my Bachelor of Arts was worth a damn. 4 years out and I still can't find a job that makes at least $30k a year.
