Personally, I think Sakurai should go for a more interesting Super Mario rep, such as Luigi. Luigi would be way more unique than Mario and yeah, the series is called "Super Mario" but Sakurai added Link before Zelda and the series is named after her so anything can happen.


I know how the numbering works, my point is that SoV wasn't a major release nor a fully new game so it couldn't be used as indicative of how they would handle their writing.

I can’t even.... I don’t even know where to begin with this. Like, your making fun of people for just.... having opinions.

And no. To clear up and potential ambiguity, I am NOT playing along with this dumbass “Mario will never be in Smash” meme. It’s lazy. It’s not funny. And it trivializes people’s actual emotions.

I’m so sick of everyone. Nobody cares about how other people feel. And because of that we probably have the worst societal mental health in history and it’s probably gonna end very badly for everyone if the people up top never start feeling bad for hurting people.

That’s how I’d fix the planet if I could do literally anything. I’d make it so everyone could feel everyone else’s emotions. Like Deanna Troi on Star Trek.

Yeah. She could be interesting. But she would be pretty underwhelming as dlc. Unless she was part of some sort of huge expansion pack with a bunch of other characters.

Saying a certain character is "underwhelming" is entirely subjective. I thought Terry was underwhelming, but clearly a few people here were extremely excited by him.

Anyway, while I don't know if Nintendo would choose him/her, Ring Fit Hero or whatever the official name ends up being would be a pretty cool addition if you ask me. Aside from WFT, there isn't a single character on the roster who'd have a similar fighting style, and that's ultimately what impresses me the most.

I'll be honest, not memeing, Mario's probably the most disappointing character in Smash to me--I really would love to play as him more, but, to me, he... is pretty boring, as is, and is not as flexible, easy-to-use, recover as a lot of the characters I enjoy. When a reboot does happen (and all my favs come back), my hope would be Mario would have a completely new moveset, along with a lot of the characters that come back. Actually take advantage of his power-ups in his moves. It's why I really love Banjo & Kazooie--they're a much more fun Mario. Out of all of the mascot characters, I love Sonic (despite some flaws), love Pac-Man, love Mega-Man... really wish I loved Mario more.

(and while it shouldn't have to be said, it's my personal opinion and thoughts when playing the character, and no factual statements asserted)

The idea of Ring Fit Trainer in Smash actually pisses me off now.

Not her being in itself, that’d be cool but the fact that she now makes :ultwiifittrainer: an even more pointless inclusion then she already was when they could’ve waited til then to add Ring Fit Trainer for the shock factor and an exercise based moveset.

"Link? Seriously? Nah fam, they would never add him to Smash. Sure, he has a pretty clear moveset just from his first two games alone, but it's so basic and it'd be so boring. Not only would he have generic sword swings; the bombs would probably be unbalanced, and just imagine some guy rapidly spamming arrows and the boomerang the whole time. What if he had fire, ice, and light arrows he could switch between, and what if he could block most attacks with his shield? It'd be even worse. Not to mention, in most of his games, he's literally just you and has little to nothing of his own personality; they even let you name him. I'm (not) sorry, but Link would suck, and he's never going to be in Smash because I said so; cry all you want, Linkposters."

How would they have waited for something that wasn't even planned? I highly doubt that Ring Fit Adventure was a planned thing during Smash 4's development cycle.

I don’t know if you’re being serious or not, but that leak that the direct would be on September 12, and also said the confusing female would be the next character, which is Terry.
