I mean... I hate to be that girl but... kind of, yeah
I'd say Splatoon has earned its spot as a top Nintendo franchise, and Undertale has been around for almost as long, so I would also consider Undertale a top Indie franchise.

I mean, I haven't actually played Undertale, but I have watched a play through. It definitely seems to have staying power, we're still talking about it 4 years later. It has a pseudo-sequel coming out, Megalovania is a crazy popular meme, merch for the game is everywhere.
It's definitely popular enough for Smash.

Guess who drove two hours to an interview only for the person who was supposed to interview me couldn’t make it into work and didn’t notify me.
Damn, that sucks to hear.

You'd think a simple courtesy call would be done... -_-

I don’t think thats fair, I really don’t.

If something is truly great I don’t think we should wait a decade before declaring it great. Just because.
Missed a word there Noi.

It’s just my thought process. To me, Undertale hasn’t had the time to prove itself a staple. Something that loads of people will remember Generations from now.
This would mean Shantae would be the assist trophy and not Shovel Knight.

I don't think they'll see it as just representing an indie, though, just treat 'em like the usual videogames. So what if it's a small dev team? They can advertise them to help those devs out, but it's not like "indie" is some special genre.

Honestly, this is how it should have been done imo.

People like me. People who make fan rosters. One of the rules we set for ourselves is that we treat all of indie gaming like it’s one company as far as selection reps goes. You get two SEGA characters, you get two Capcom characters, you get two indie characters. It’s all about creating a balanced product that appeals to as many people as possible instead of just loading it up with our favorites. I know you guys think Sakurai just does whatever he wants, but that just can’t be true. Because if it was, I guarantee you this roster would be very different. Because it appeals to so many people instead of just one type of person.

And yet.... it still feels like the one you go to second or third. Not first.

What would the stage be?

The ruins? The judgement hall?

Maybe a travel stage of the whole underground.
A traveling stage would be the best, in my opinion, as part of Undertale’s appeal is the vastly different locations, but I do think that the Ruins will do.

the undertale stage is papyrus's tile puzzle but the tiles actually do what he says they do

In the first few days of the new school year, I've been experiencing it quite well. My school has established a brand new science class where lab experiments & activities can be held, before it was the old break room from previous years. Instead of using our laptops, we're more working with worksheets and writing down notes from the lessons we do.

I guess I missed another Fire Emblem argument. Maybe its because I'm not a fan of the series(Outside of Ike and his cast), so I can't say I'm too invested or anything.

What're the chances ****** just learn to live and let live? I've seen both Dmitri and Eldelgard peeps getting defensive about their choices.

Cause I don't see Claude fans getting uppity. They must be the most chill.

That said, if anyone wants to talk Mega Man or Tekken BS, I'm down for that.

You know what I want the most? For the next Smash direct for the last two characters to be definitely labeled as final or not final. From the announcement itself. If we really aren’t getting any more, I want them to say so clearly and definitively.

I still wish there was some way to do the three protagonists together Pokémon Trainer style. I think that would be super interesting. But apparently it’s “impossible”
Yes, because of a little thing I like to call "time" and "money."

I don't blame them. Travelling stages take time, and it would be difficult to account for all of Banjo-Kazooie's location.
You don’t need to do all of them. Just hit Mumbo’s Mountain, Treasure Trove Cove, Freezeezy Peak, Mad Monster Mansion, Click Clock Wood, and Grunty’s Furnace Fun before ascending to the roof and then falling back down to Spiral Mountain.

That’s still probably too much.

I’m not even talking about that. I was being told it would be “completely out of character” and something that would “never happen in the game”. Let alone time and money.

While Spiral Mountiain was the obvious inclusion (and they did it way better than I had imagined, so far), I did like the idea of Gruntilda's Lair. Going through the Lair to various levels, and if if you have Gruntilda's Lair music playing it would automatically transition into that level's version of the music. But as much as I'd love that, it is insanely over complicated to do. A next best thing would be reimagining Spiral Mountain to have seasons. When Freezeezy Peak is playing it's the Winter version of Spiral Mountain. When Click Clock Wood is playing, it can transition in between the seasons. While not directly from the game, in a way, it represents it well. Still, a bit overly complicated.

Truly, we just need to fusion Dimitri & Edel so that both fanbase can be united.

Or just be more like Claude and just chill like ya said.

Also, MMZero is my dream pick when it come to new MM characters in Smash.

Even if it amounts to nothing (which it almost certainly will) I’m just glad an Undertale character is being taken kinda seriously.

I'm probably gonna say something about my age here a bit, but before coming to Smashboards I'd never even heard of Cave Story. Meanwhile Undertale is everywhere. I think some people overstate Cave Story's prominence in the modern day.
