What do you guys think about Toad in smash? It's kind of a shame he got being part of Peach's moveset imo since he's one of the most important Mario characters.

I'd love Toad in.

Captain doesn't interest me, though.

To be fair, Yoshi and Samus are the only ones with franchises that have a single character. If you moved Yoshi anywhere else, you'd have a non-Mario character occupy one of the eight spots in the first two rows. It'd look weird.

I’m legit surprised that Chorus Kids, Ayumi Tachibana, and Mach Rider aren’t in Ultimate. I guess because of limited space for new inclusions. But they are some of his personal favorites.

Technically NoA already messed up their culture.

Toad is Toad in the West, but Kinopio in Japan. Other Toads should be called Mushroom Boy since Japan calls them "Kinoko-zoku" or Mushroom People.

And now I learn Toad and Captain Toad aren't the same, and we're still getting only Blue Toad as playable in console releases. At least Toad is playable in Super Mario Run and that's considered a main game I guess...

Japan also recognizes there being a main Toad character like the West does, since that Green Toad called Kinopio-san in Nintendo's official LINE account (whatever that app was) mentioned him as his friend and the Super Mario-kun manga has the specific Toad as the captain of the Mushroom Kingdom's Toad guards (though I guess the name distinguishing already shows that anyway).

That's my point. Smash doesn't use actual logic from characters actual gaming franchises so if they can do that for Inkling they can make it work for Captain Toad jumping.

Inkling takes damage in water, though. It's still faithful, but not ridiculous. If they absolutely must make Captain Toad jump, it's going to be very miniscule.

I'd rather just pay $25 for the excellent third party Fighters Pass and call it a day.

Actually, characters who can't swim(or are Fire types in Pokemon's cases) have drowning animations instead for their swim ones and take gradual damage. Well, in Ultimate.

So it's still taken well into account.

Imagine my boi in Smash Flutter Jumping indefinitely, grabbing halfway across the stage in barely any frames of lag, him aiming eggs that kill at 20%, being able to cling to walls with his tongue, AND instant KO when he eats you.

Not saying he isn't popular, far from it. He's definitely up there in terms of popularity.

But I feel like Isaac and most certainly Waluigi are kinda in a league of their own when it comes to highly requested first party picks

I don't see why we couldn't. There wasn't much of a reason to add Banjo outside fan demand, so if Sakurai feels like BWD and/or Dixie are popular enough, he'd probably add them.

One's the protagonist of a relatively lowkey RPG that hasn't received a new game in years, the other is a main character of one of Nintendo's biggest IP's and is consistently used in Nintendo advertisements.

I get Isaac has a large following on the internet but there's no way he beats out Dee, especially when you consider just how popular he is in Japan.
