1. We already had a free DLC character
2. We already had a purchase bonus with the Rex costume.

If they DO make an extra character, it certainly won't come free. But I'll remain on the boat that it is either wave 2 or nothing beyond character 5.

I'm honestly shocked we still haven't had a least a Karate Joe assist or something when it comes to Rhythm Heaven

That way I'd feel a whole lot less bummed about the lack of a playable rep...

At least give us a consolation prize if you can't give us the real deal.

Are you kidding? Jimmy is PERFECT for smash. That slingshot has so much moveset potential. Plus, we don't have enough buzz cut hairstyles in smash.

It's weird for the Smash team to call Yoshi a separate series from Super Mario, but have very little from it despite being part of the original 8--one character, no assist trophies, no items, one mii costume. It's like they call it a separate series, but then treat it as if it's a part of the Super Mario series.

I really hope more people give Infinity Train a watch. This particular scene was tough on me.

Everyone points to the Smash 4 CSS to claim that Sakurai doesn't consider Yoshi separate (despite literally every other detail about the game saying otherwise), but if I'm honest, BRAWL'S CSS pisses me off more...

To me, I think it's because he lacks the extra oomph. Iconic, yes, but moveset-wise does not seem to pique Sakurai's curiosity. Captain Toad has tools, but I am not sure if they'd add the captain before the normal toad. If anything it would be a part of his moveset like Kaptain K. Rool and K. Roolenstein, imo.

Yeah, I think there's enough stuff that could be used for Toad's moveset; the tools, maybe some powerups like the propeller mushroom, spores since he has them when Peach uses him, maybe borrow Peach's down special but have it somewhat different, and maybe stuff from sports games (though I guess that gets into Waluigi territory), and of course he could use his head, punches and kicks for normals, but Sakurai doesn't seem to be interested unfortunately...

To be fair, Yoshi and Samus are the only ones with franchises that have a single character. If you moved Yoshi anywhere else, you'd have a non-Mario character occupy one of the eight spots in the first two rows. It'd look weird.

I don’t know. There have been other characters with region exclusive popularity in recent years. I’d say Ayumi, Mike, and Takamaru have a degree of possibility. Mike is a character I see get brought up all the damn time over here and Takamaru’s Assist Tropy status means people over here at least know him.

marth has always looked weird for me

If they do a next installment and dramatically change up the veteran characters as was mentioned as a thought prior to Ultimate, I would like Toad to be a character and separate from Peach's moveset. I'm generally not a fan of characters who use another character as a part of their moveset (I'll get the possible irony of being a fan of Banjo & Kazooie out of the way, as I consider duo characters an obvious exception), and is why I don't like playing as Peach or Zelda in Ultimate, and when I do, I rarely use those moves. And I'd much prefer Toad to Captain Toad, I feel like that fits more as an alt.

It's why I'm one of the few who actually prefer going by number, rather than series, in the CSS--it means there's little arbitrariness as to what character goes where, and it's much easier for me to find characters based on when I remember them appearing.

To be fair, Yoshi and Samus are the only ones with franchises that have a single character. If you moved Yoshi anywhere else, you'd have a non-Mario character occupy one of the eight spots in the first two rows. It'd look weird.

Actually I'd move Yoshi on either the second or third column (depending on if you consider iconic status or relation to the larger Mario franchise more important) and put Wario directly below him. That would leave two empty spots below Diddy Kong and Wario each and kick the Fire Emblem and Earthbound column out. I would put Ness and Lucas below Diddy Kong, put Ice Climbers and R.O.B. below Wario and then have Marth and Ike fill the spots below Pit. Therefore the Mario characters are still in the general facility

Banjo 1 came out one year before I was born. Honestly, my childhood system should have been the GameCube but my parents wouldn’t let me play games till they made you exercise. My first system was the Wii and my second one was a 360 with Kinect.
