If it was truly a complete rush for money, wild areas wouldn’t exist. Neither would all the genuinely interesting Pokémon design and small details of the region we’ve seen so far.
Yes, it’s not living up to expectations, but that doesn’t just fall on Game Freak.
Game Freak HAS has to get the game out by a certain time, because the dozens of other companies involved in the merch, anime, spin-offs, etc, are not going to delay their products because the video games don’t look revolutionary. Pokémon Company has to manage all of this and make sure it comes out at the same time.
You can fault Game Freak for not hiring more people, splitting their already relatively small staff between their new IP and this objectively more important game, and not providing an adequate reason for cutting the Pokédex in half, but you can’t fault them making sure this game gets out by Christmas.
If SwSh is truly a “rush job,” it’s not a rushed job by GameFreak. It might be an understaffed or under-prioritized job by GameFreak, but they’re not the one’s rushing it.
