I don’t mean to start an unnecessary flame war, but are people actually still hyped for Sword and Shield? I thought it was obvious by now that its a clear rush job by Gamefreak
I don’t think it looks that bad, I like the new forms. Then again I’m not as much of a hardcore Pokémon fan as some of you in this thread.

I guess Galarian Weezing rules regular Weezing out, which is a bit of a bummer for me, old Weezing is one of my favorites while the new one... isn't, let's put it like that. Gene Simmons as a Pokémon is pretty funny though, would be nice with some more music references considering just how many amazing bands have come out of England, they don't even have to come in the form of Pokémon designs.

That's about all I got from that trailer though, I'm still searching for that something that really sparks my excitement for the games, the further we get the more I doubt it'll ever come.

I mean. Justice League and Lord of the Rings would work perfectly. But it really could be anything.

....

Watch it be ****ing Star Wars.
Star Warriors :troll:

...isn’t that kinda redundant tho? There’s a lot of SW games that play similarly to a Warriors game

It doesn't look like a rush job to me, some of the animations are weird but that's what happens when you don't give your company a big enough budget to higher a thousand dudes. It still looks like quality imo, and so far it seems even more interesting than the 3DS games.

No national dex still sucks for those whose favorites don't get in, though, but I personally don't really care much about that.

I'm still pretty excited.

The National Dex debacle hasn't crippled my anticipation too much, assuming pretty much all of my favs are confirmed to be in.

As for the criticisms of the graphics and animations and such, it's their first mainline foray onto a home console, so I'll give em a pass on that front.

Question is which big western IP could they possibly use for a Warriors game?
It could just be a massive crosseover of Eastern and Western All-Stars from across the sphere of gaming or just pop culture in general. The West could have things like Marvel, Transformers, and various Nick properties like Avatar, while the East could have classic IPs like Salior Moon, Dragon Quest, and Devilman, just to name a few.

Yeah, same here. So far it just feels like The Next Pokemon But $20 More. Nothing that makes me want to day 1 it. If it's another 25 hour game with little to no postgame content, I won't be too happy, to be frank.

So I just recruited Lysithea by accident.

To anyone who played Three Houses, what should I expect?

I understand what you and everyone else is getting at. If there weren’t so much competition near the end of the year, I might have still considered it.

However, when I think about what it’s stacked up against later this year.

* Astral Chain
* Borderlands 3
* The Outer Worlds
* Luigi’s Mansion 3
* Death Stranding
* Doom Eternal

IMO, compared to those games, it doesn’t look worthy of my $60 bucks

Magical nuke, she can 1RKO most enemies thanks to her high magic and speed growth and she learns effective damage on calvary and monsters making her a huge boon for getting past the tougher enemies. Slap any equipment that extends her range and watch her shred things without fear.

If it was truly a complete rush for money, wild areas wouldn’t exist. Neither would all the genuinely interesting Pokémon design and small details of the region we’ve seen so far.

Yes, it’s not living up to expectations, but that doesn’t just fall on Game Freak.
Game Freak HAS has to get the game out by a certain time, because the dozens of other companies involved in the merch, anime, spin-offs, etc, are not going to delay their products because the video games don’t look revolutionary. Pokémon Company has to manage all of this and make sure it comes out at the same time.

You can fault Game Freak for not hiring more people, splitting their already relatively small staff between their new IP and this objectively more important game, and not providing an adequate reason for cutting the Pokédex in half, but you can’t fault them making sure this game gets out by Christmas.

If SwSh is truly a “rush job,” it’s not a rushed job by GameFreak. It might be an understaffed or under-prioritized job by GameFreak, but they’re not the one’s rushing it.

Also, I think the no-national-dex thing will eventually be fixed. They’ll eventually bring every Pokémon back in HD at some point, and once they’re there they won’t have to be cut.

Also, if SwSh sells AMAZING, which it will simply because all of Nintendo’s series are doing better than ever on Switch, it will show Pokémon Co there’s still a huge market in big console games, meaning Game Freak might get a bigger budget for future games.

I think this is the first gen where I've really been on board with most of the pokemon designs. It must be the new-ish designer

Why the hell is he wearing crocs?
Why can't he wear crocs?

Why does he wear a helmet?

WHY HE IS RUNNING?!

So much questions, so little time....

One of the things I feel like they're really holding back on specifically is the edition of new evolutions. Yeah, they made a great step in the right direction with Obstagoon, and I'm sure they'll be a few more Galarian evos here and there, but I feel like we'll only get a sparse amount by the time Sword and Shield release. I seriously want Game Freak to go absolutely nuts with tons of new evolutions for pokemon that desperately needed them, like in Gen 4. Could you imagine pokemon like Farfetch'd and Luvdisc FINALLY getting some respect?

Isn’t that the same type of thing we give crap to companies like EA and Activision for?

You know, not caring about the quality of a product and only caring about meeting deadlines for investors?

Sword/Shield are the only game I'm looking forward to at the moment

So obviously I'm still hyped even though I probably won't be able to transfer my precious Emboar to HD

We've had a Luvdisc evolution since Gen 5,

Gamefreak just denies it, and claims that it's it own thing

Probably not.

Though they may pull a gen 7 and have starters available in the wild through special means...

My biggest thing with Bring Back National Dex isn’t that I don’t think all Pokémon should come back. They absolutely should. To an extent, I appreciate that people are showing support for it, because without that show of support, there’s no telling if the dev team would actually bring it back.

That said, the one thing that makes me still roll my eyes at times is the fact that some folks are complaining without proposing a solution. I would argue that besides adding post-game content, there isn’t a short term solution to getting it done. Not all of the social media stuff is cringe or anything. It’s kinda hard to explain, because seeing the phrase “Gotta Catch em All” not apply anymore stings.

Folks should seriously try to enjoy things, even if not everything is as perfect as possible. You’re a lot happier that way. I don’t get why people can’t be excited for the game while also saying, “You know what would make this better though? National Dex.”

It’s not just Game Freak, and as they do not have the capability to make it happen prior to launch (based on other parties involved that they do not control), blaming them frankly does nothing and makes those who do it look childish from my point of view. There are ways to make people see your side of the argument: complaining and not providing solutions doesn’t do that. Granted, I blame Social Media for creating a toxic culture like that anyway.

Also:
Soon, I’ll be fighting Dimitri. As I am aware of certain things to his character, and the fact that I already spared Claude, I have to know: Can I spare the spaghetti hair’d King? I imagine for story purposes I cannot, but I want to make sure that I prepare myself for the battle itself and emotionally. It’s a gaming character, but I very much empathize with stories such as his.

Also, right now I have the following units at level 40 or over, and they dominate:

Byleth
Edelgard
Leonie
Bernadetta
Felix
Dorothea
Hubert
Petra

Currently working on Ingrid, Lorenz, and a few others.

Obviously I imagine I’ll be fighting “those who slither in the dark”. I saw in this thread earlier that the Death Knight gets wrecked by Lysithea. Would it be worth leveling her up to have her wreck him, or would I be fine without her?

Or should I do it for the heck of it anyway?

I mean yeah, which is why you should probably be directing your anger/dissapointment at the Pokemon Company and not Gamefreak.

When Anthem ended up as a rush job did you blame Bioware or EA? Sure Bioware made a lot of questionable decisions in development but the ones pushing a deadline were EA, the publishers.

Pokemon Company has even more on their plate due to needing to organize the t.v shows, tcg, and everything else along with the game. You can criticize them for putting less attention/priority to the game side of things, and you can criticize Gamefreak for the issues Bidoof mentioned, but at the end of the day the shorter timeline is a Pokemon Company thing.

Oh man if they actually gave Reuniclus one I'd be so damn happy.

I like a lot of gen 5 pokemon but Reuniclus is a huge favorite that doesn't really get seen all that much.
