This is going way too far, especially Professor Pro doesn't know when to stop. I'm glad someone reported this and I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

Silly making it just brawl imo. Can't be bothered to sift through reading charlies reasons and such so no flaming me please.

The way it is here in Canada is that brawl is destroying melee. It's like a disease that steals a few of the good melee players and forces them to lose their skill (edwin is a good example of this happening in the UK). It's slowly taking over, but really there is no point in playing brawl competitively right now, it's so so so freaking boring. Like Mr_P said, it's fun in the same way mario kart is. You may as well have a mario kart tournament, it's more interesting to watch.

It's up to those devoted melee smashers to keep the scene alive, but I don't think most of them have time to do so. I mean I will certainly be trying to arrange fests and tournaments once I get back but I doubt I'll be able to do much to keep the scene together. Just don't let it die, it's the only way. Keep playing melee and don't play Brawl. It's the least we can all do.

i could not have agreed more. brawl is so boring compared to melee. to play that game u must be in complete denial to think it is ever going to be as big as melee. melee is the only reason why the smash community got so big

If thats your opinion then fine but in my opinion brawl is just as good as melee and I would definately not call it a disease. The other really stupid thing is who says you can't play both?

because you can only get good at one Ben ,

to tell the truth because brawl has online play that makes me not want to tournies or smashfests i become a lazy gamer .
actually i was good at melee , a while ago i had a pretty mean technical i say it was more technical than eggz /silentwolf they couldnt do the **** i did with fox fox .(fuzzyness and frostbyte could tell you about that ;) then i started to get lazy and switched to marth because fox took much effort . so i just got OK with marth but IMO i was only good with marth ,

its not that i didnt like melee still , i just wanted to go to something new , actually to tell u guys the truth when i played melee again i got 4 stocked by fuzzyness 's sheik , brawl had completely crippled my melee skills , but i think 2 months of solid playing will get me up to point ,

i just like Brawl its easier to play for me at least . other brawl players like me feel this way we still love melee , but that game is too old and all the ATs are pretty much done ,(as in we preformed these tech as its just part of the game ) , in brawl its funlearning new tech also the new chars.

also playing the same games loses its fun and only becomes competitive , but they brawl has niether '' its not fun or competitive '' i give it a yr until brawl actually becomes a game worth playing IMO ,

anyway these are my thoughts , love to read anyones maybe fuzzy s or frostbyte /pdots/chris

loool I cant really see why brawl is just as good as melee and its obvious that why people dont play them both is because they are completely different games.

You cant only get good at one, people like Cort and Mew2king have won tourns and placed high in both games so your wrong there. lol Sorry I dont think you were more technical then SW when you played fox, I bet you dont even know any of the extreme technical techniques.
Exactly what kinda new techs are you learning since the game is so low depth im sure you can mention all of them in one small post.

Didnt say it was you lol it was prob someone sad guy like B.Bill but he just took away the fun imo. How can you say keep the melee scene alive and the run and brawl tournament, bit of a contradiction of your words isn't. It wont die of trashtalk, can you explain how trasktalk will actually kill it, and be specific and I will see if its true and if its true I will stop, cos I know trasktalk is not killing the melee scene. I think that its just you not liking the trasktalk going on and blaming it on affecting the melee scene.

i herd that chrisboy got shook of prof on msn. i herd he didnt want it

Ya I know what you mean about brawl but even though it's a very different game to melee it's still a lot better than any other fighting game I played. At final smash for instance, I played melee a lot more with people like skalor and tails chao and had just as much fun as melee.

Edwin- I disagree, I can play brawl for a while without melee but that doesn't make me really crap when I play melee again.

I say again that I'm more than happy to keep playing melee and brawl. If there's a melee tournament (with housing) I'll def come to it.

No, you'll stop trash talking because the way you're doing it is called flaming. I won't ban people for trash talking in good fun, but people are clearly getting offended here. You're not banned yet, but keep this up and you will be.

that almost made sense!

Bill. Your melee game involves little to no tech skill so the transition between melee and brawl is probably fairly easy. I've won MM's in canada against people that used to be amazing at melee who are much worse now because of brawl. There is no argument that it makes you worse at melee. You're saying after a day of switching between the two you were able to adjust. To compete at either game you must play it a lot and with some kind of conviction, not just casually muck about on both. I'll tell you now that if you commit to brawl and play it a fair bit, then you will suck at melee when you come back to it. No johns.

Brawl is very different to other fighting games because it has been made with the intent of being a casual game, they put in terrible mechanics like tripping because apparently it makes it more "fun". The games are very slow to watch and often feel like 10 minutes rather than 3. The Brawl tournament here was disgusting to watch. Melee is fast and interesting, it has these magical things called combos that make the game so fascinating to watch and play. These reward a player with gratification that you can't really find in brawl. You may sometimes be like "oh wow, I just hit 2 moves (the 2nd could have been avoided if my opponent DI'd correctly) in a row, that felt nearly good". It's just not the same.

Bill these opinions are not just my own, they are shared by a large portion of many of the communities, like Mr.P said probably 50/50.

Oh and Edwin, don't mention tech skill and SilentWolf, he can hear what you say you know...

Theres nothing wrong with my tech skill thanks. And in regards to you're 'brawl makes you crap at melee' arguement , my good friend Aiko is a very good melee player and probably the best brawl player in the UK. We've both had times where we'd play brawl for days or weeks on end and when it came to playing melee again we played it just as well as we usually do. Sure, it might take a game or so to get back into it but you don't forget the stuff you know in melee.

lol Do you know what my definition of trasktalking is to say the way im doing it is flaming, NO you dont. When I was flaming Charles before I was clearly insulting him, not trasktalking. But thats over now *With a giant smile on my face*. Nice try though, keep looking out for the flames in this thread please. x X x X x

No insult is intended here but you werent exactly the best melee player about and I really dont think your melee game was based alot on tech skill which is why you have such an easy time switching between both. You played more kinda like just punish the opponent with a smash, get a grab, a few pills, nothing which couldnt be done on brawl really etc (from what I saw anyway). Well I dont think you would be able to notice that much by you both playing brawl and both going back to melee at the same time, as you are both playing each other, maybe if you were playing someone who was just playing melee and then you went back to melee you would see the difference.
But anyway I think its when you play brawl for like a month or so, seriously you should see how pdot has gone at melee now it is terrible, I can just destroy him WAYYYY easier then before, even with his 'Time To Try' phrase :O.

Look you might not forget what to do in melee but I know that you do in fact get worse.
Yep it does.

Charles since you think brawl is SO boring why are you doing a brawl tourn when you can make it a brawl + melee tour, only a dumb brawler would not go to a tourn just because they are hosting melee there iswell. And you were talking about keeping melee alive and this tourn is obv a way to keep it alive, and brawlers get to watch melee and melee watch brawlers so everyone can participate with each other.

...except nobody cares about YOUR definition. Although your INTENTIONS might be to do something else, it's still the action that counts. There's a fairly thin line between trash talking and flaming and it's really up to the moderating staff to decide what's what. You're always taking a risk by doing either. I'm pretty reasonable and so are most of the other moderators, but don't push it. I don't enjoy threatening and punishing people for stuff like this, so I hope I won't have to do anything else in here.

Excuse me mod but I want to report this as it is totally unrelated.
How do you become a moderator.... I think I would be the ultimate moderator. Any chance of me being a moderator :D.
